So it looks like the Canada wide Rogers outage affected me. I am not with Rogers.. I am with Zoomers which is owned by City phone which is owned by Rogers. Uughh. But since I live alone I thought it was me. My internet is provided by a different company so I could post here. Was finally was able to call grumpy so they are still bringing the system back up.
Lynn my daughter and her husband are both with Rogers. They were in a real panic this morning, as they were waiting for a call from McMaster Childrens' Hospital giving them an appointment time. So I called the hospital neurology unit and got the appointment time and gave them my number, just in case they needed to contact us. My youngest grandson, who will be 5 on May 6th, has lost his abi.ity to speak, hence the urgent referral to a neurologist and testing in Hamilton. It is a real concern and our whole church is praying for him. I would appreciate prayers for Neil and his appointment tomorrow at 1 p.m.

Ina, I am praying for Neil. That must be so scary. Trusting God will help the doctor's as they find the issue and he will be speaking soon. Did he talk before? Is this something that just suddenly happened?
Oh Ina I’m so sorry to hear this and hope that all goes well for your little poppet and the Drs can help. Sending lots of love and hugs

Thank you for your prayers. "The prayer of a righteous (wo)man availeth much".
To answer your question Kathy, this happened gradually, but fairly quickly. They were at my place last Wednesday and my daughter was concerned about Neil repeating everything we said. I was not concerned, as kids sometimes do that. He had no trouble keeping up on our 90 minute hike through the woods. The next couple of days he was not initisting any conversation, and gradually stopped answering to my daughter, although he was still singing with her. On Saturday, he stopped using words and only made sounds. They took him to the walk in clinic, and the doctor there sent him to our local hospital, where they examined him and did blood work. The doctor there scheduled an urgent consultation with the pediatric neurology clinic in Hamilton, which is a large teaching hospital. On Sunday, he was still singing with Leanne, as usual, and the whole family went for a bike ride. Then yesterday, the words he was singing were less distinct, and he was more tired than usual, and when we did face time, he did not smile at me. And he always smiled at me before. If you knew how difficult it is to get an appointment with a specialist, you would realize how serious the doctor was taking this, and as a nurse I certainly do. I am trying to trust andcwait, and not let my mind go to possible outcomes. His appoinment is today at 1.

Oh Ina I’m so sorry to hear this, Neil is a week younger than Jack, I hope you find some answers quickly, I will be thinking of you and sending love and hugs for you and your family.
In Canada, before covid, it could be 8 months to a year or more wait for a specialist. It depends on which type of specialist you need. People also go to other cities for tests because it can be a long wait.
I am very glad they got things rolling for Neil so quickly. Rogers is back up so the parents can make calls and the snow isn't until tomorrow.
Lyrid meteor shower peak: Sky-watchers are gearing up. Thursday night to Friday morning is the apex of the annual Lyrid meteor shower. From a dark location, preferably away from light pollution from cities, expect to see 15 to 20 shooting stars zip across the sky. There is a chance of extra bursts of activity; twice in the past century rates rose to as high as 100 an hour, and ancient Chinese astronomers once noted the Lyrids sent meteors “falling like rain.” One tip: Because of this year’s bright waxing gibbous moon, the better shot at shooting stars may come in the predawn hours of Friday. — Andrew Fazekas
Here's an update on Neil. His MRI is booked for noon tomorrow. This mornimg they woke him early to give him some melatonin, so he could go to sleep for his EEG. Can you gurss what he did? Yes, he spit it right back at them. They tried the test for about 4 hours, and my daughter has no idea if they got enough information from his brain or not.
I'm spending time with the 8 year old. He's teachimg me all about Minecraft.
Lyn, we only had a skiff of snow, not nearly as much as they had in Hamilton.

Thanks for the update! Do you need me to send you anything to help with the 8 year old? Like noise canceling head phones so you can save your ears? Lol
Thanks for the update Ina. Hope they can find some answers to help him.
minecraft..seems to be a young boy thing. I have no idea about it either. I do try and play Mario cart with the poppets and I give them a good laugh trying to steer my car to the finish line lol.
wishing you all a great day and weekend if I don’t get chance to pop back on.

I just spoke to grumpy. A flowering cherry type tree with snow on the flowers. I can't send the full picture.
Another covid case in the building, that makes 4.
I spoke to the old couple in the building. I think they are in their 80s. They both have their first jab and are happy. I get mine on the 27th. Sorry I am weird today.
Hope your shots go well ladies. Ina, any update on your DGS?
Sorry if some see this post twice..copying to save time....
Well we are back in lockdown for 3 days from midnight tonight and have to wear masks when exercising again. Gosh. When will it ever end. It seems a family who came in from India were in hotel quarantine and a woman and her daughter and a man in separate rooms have contracted the virus. They still don’t know how it’s gone from room to room in the hotel. The man tested negative just before he finished his quarantine and has been a tourist here and returned to Melbourne only to be tested positive so now we have to go into lockdown as he’s been visiting lots of sites in our city.
We heard whilst we were at a golf lesson and I was supposed to be having the poppets tomorrow and we were out for dinner two nights so I’d planned to do my food shopping on Monday. We had to stop at the supermarket to get food and basic provisions..it was manic. We managed to get what we need and have enough food for 5 days now lol. Everyone was very civilised but long queues.
It’s a long weekend here too for Anzac Day so a lot of events cancelled and the football tomorrow. It could be worse. I just think they need to tighten up hotel quarantine as something has gone wrong. People seem to be going to and from India and not sure why when we can’t go to the uk or anywhere. I’m grateful for my little home bubble and will just chill as always. It doesn’t seem to affect us much except we can’t see anyone or go to golf but can exercise for an hour.
Just FaceTimed my sister in the UK and she tells me that the vaccine centres there are so organised and you go at your allotted time and are out within 10 mins. She’s just had her hair cut after months. Her neighbour who had Covid now has her hair falling out..they say it can happen 3-6 months after having had the virus..eek.
Sending hugs

Good morning. Just gearing up for another day at my daughter's house. I think I have time for a walk this morning. An update: The primary findings of the MRI were good. No tumour, no bleed, no stroke, no inflamation. Then they injected the dye, and my daughter did not get the results of that yet. They will try again to do an EEG today.
Jayne, I am sorry that due to the selfishness of some people, you are again in lockdown. Right now is not a time to travel and be a tourist. India is running rampant with a double variant, and I can't understand why we are allowing travel internationally. We are closing our air to and from India and Pakistan, but not until midnight, so we still have more flights coming in today. Quaranteen hotels have been a mode of spread in many places. Ugh! Just stzy at home people! And make cards, phone call, face time, etc. I know I am preaching to the choir. It is finally going to warm up here and maybe get up to 15° (close to 60 F.) Have a great day everyone.

Steve has just seen photos of one street in the Puerto, like a river, I think some houses must have been flooded, there’s no drainage here in Spain, apparently a tornado went over , we had rain just as we had left home So my washing probably had another rinse. Luckily our road has the slightest slope so all our water runs out of the gate and down the road!
our sons jab has been cancelled again, second time, they said he could drive 70 miles each way if he wanted to, our DIL doesn’t drive so he didn’t want to take a chance in case he felt ill afterwards, he’s trying again online. Poor lad, he has to travel on the train to London for work so he really could do with being vaccinated.
Ina good news so far for your DGS. Hope the EEG tests also come back ok.
Yes the quarantine hotels are always where it spreads here. Our Government is also looking at stopping citizens going to India and returning. If they don’t stop flights and returning travellers from the areas where cases are increasing rapidly we will never get on top of it. Every case we’ve had has been because someone in quarantine didn’t do the right thing.
Jan so sorry your DS didn’t get his jab. Hope he gets it soon.

Ina, at least some good news, let’s hope they find what’s wrong, is Neil in the hospital?
it’s the same in England still letting flights from India in u til 4pm today, so stupid, we will all be in lockdown again.
Yes Jan, he is in the neurology center of a large teaching hospital in Hamilton, which is a city about a 75 minute drive south of here, that is if it's not rush hour (which lasts from 3- 6 p.m.)

Ina...so very sorry about your little grandson, Neil. I've not been online checking on this for about 5 days, I think! So sorry about this, belated prayers coming your way and his. It must be so difficult for you to sit by patiently and wait for news. My thoughts are with you!
My oldest son got his #2 Moderna shot this past Monday, and was fairly sick for about a day and half. Chills, nausea, headache, and dizziness. My husband had finger surgery on his left ring finger...tendon tore at the first knuckle form end and it did not repair itself by splinting since December. He now has a pin threaded through tendon and a metal brace over the finger. My son was to take him to surgery, but I ended up having to do so because he was too dizzy to drive!
I babysit my little 17-mos. old granddaughter every Monday and every other Tuesday, so had to shuttle back and forth to take him and pick him up and babysit before, after, and in between. My daughter is about 12 min. from our house and then another 40 minutes to the hospital surgery. Fortunately, my daughter works from home, but not sure how much work she actually got done on Tuesday with my being gone an 1-1/2 hours each trip to take and bring him home. Needless to say, it was a long day for me, and I was ready for an early bedtime!
Ina, hope to hear good news soon on your little guy...will keep checking and praying!

I am playing my Challenge Catch-up cardmaking for the February 2021...Sending Sunshine. This card is for a good friend and cardmaking buddy that I haven't been able to see for over a year! It is a bouquet full of sunshine yellow blooms to celebrate her birthday.
I think I have figured out how to deal with my vaccine appointment. I should say that I tend to have strange side effects from things, like in the rare category. I know there are doctors, nurses and paramedics on site so that is good. I spoke to two people who have already gone to the mass vaccine site. Don't show up early or you will just wait outside. Wear a sleeveless top. Have your health card out and ready. I will also have a copy of my medical summary sheet in a zip lock bag along with my epipen. Now I am not as anxious.
We are now up to 5 cases of covid where I live. Just found out one of them died
Ina, Neil's in the right place, being looked after, thinking of you all.
Lynn, steve had all his documents ready, even ones he didn’t need but didn’t want them to ask for something we had left at home, they did ask if he had allergies and took pills, he said no, honestly he takes seven per day, he said I wasn’t taking the chance of being sent home, thankfully they tell you if you can’t have the vaccine enforce they make your appointment, our neighbour has been told she can’t have it, she’s quite depressed as she says she’ll be tied to the house, she’s 85! I really feel for her.
