Musical Card Challenge #31 - Hint: Over the river and thru the woods
Ladies, I would like to thank all of you that participated in last week's Musical Challenge - Summertime. I know it's getting to be nicer outside and people aren't wanting to stay inside. However, I appreciate you staying inside to play this challenge with me. Remember, if you have any ideas on making these challenges better, please pm me. I want to hear your ideas. Or if you would like to request a song to use as our inspiration, you should also pm me.
For this week's challenge; you can win prizes. For every person you bring to the challenge, that posts a card, you and your friend will get a prize. Or if you are a new player, post your card and pm with your address and you too will get a prize. Remember the more the merrier.
Okay, I am guessing you want to know who won last week's cards. The winner of the "Summertime" cards is: Drumroll please: Cricket3571
Way to go Cricket3571 Congrats!! Cricket, please pm me with the address to where you would like the cards sent. To those of you that plan on sending Cricket3571 your card please pm me for her address.
For the next couple of week's we are going to hold a contest within our Musical Card Challenge. The contest is to come up with a name for our weekly card winner. I don't like using the word recipient all the time. I would like something unique and fun to call our weekly winner. So, pm me with your suggestions. The winner will get a prize.
Ladies, let's keep in mind that we all love it when we see comments under our cards. So please let's all try to leave love under everyone's creations.
Woo Hoo It's time to announce this week's song. Is everybody ready?? Here we go. This week's song is:
Take A Back RoadBy: Rodney Atkins Here are a few of the lyricsYou can listen to the song by clicking on the title. And it makes me wanna take a back road
Makes me wanna take the long way home
Put a little gravel in my travel
Unwind, unravel all night long
Makes me wanna grab my honey
Tear down some two-lane country, who knows
Get lost and get right with my soul
Makes wanna take, makes me wanna
Take a back road
If you are new to the challenge this is how it works. Each Saturday I choose a song. I then ask you to make a card that is inspired by the chosen song. Then post your card here in the forum and we can leave our comments and chat about it. Then next Saturday I will put everyone's name that made a card for this challenge into a drawing. The winner will be the recipient of the cards made for this challenge. Therefore I will ask you to consider sending your card to whomever is the lucky recipient. However, it is NOT mandatory that you send your card out. You may use it for whatever you wish.
Also, please remember in order to have your name put in the drawing you MUST post your card here in the forum before next Saturday.

Good morning ladies, FM I sure hope they go off strike very soon. I have happy mail to send to you. I guess we can't say anything about "going postal" can we? lol....Well once the strike is over my happy mail will go postal.
Good morning ladies. Today is going to be a day of cleaning. For me and for FM and Suzy. Only I get to stamp when I am done. Those two have to sit in corners when they are done. That's right....they have to go back to their own corners...hehe..I hope everyone has a great day!!!
I hope to work on this card a little later today. Time is going so fast already.
That's ok. Dummy me went back to lay down after the grandchildren went to school. I didn't wake up til noon. I NEVER sleep til noon. I feel like I wasted the whole day. And now I looked at the clock and it's almost 2:00. Wow, I better get my rear in gear before this day is gone.
Ladies, it was brought to my attention that we may get more players if I use other genre's of music. Only I have one small problem. I am a country girl. I do not know many songs outside of the country genre. So, if anyone can help by giving me names of songs with the artist name as well please pm me. Thank you. I appreciate any and all suggestions.
I'll do some looking an't sleep tonight and give you some easy listening saong...I don't think rock songs would work too well. Like how would you do a card for "dark side of the moon" ???

ooh actually, that would be a good one. I would make a dark sky with a moon in it. Then....wait..I better rethink this. lol....I know I kept thinking of that song Back in Black. I know it's a rock song...but I think it could be done. I do know songs of other genres, my family is very different when it comes to taste in music. My sister is a big band listener, my brother is a heavy metal person, another sister is rap. I also like Christian music. However, I think every card would be something to do with a sympathy card if I did that genre. Maybe not, other people may have more ideas than I do. In fact, I am sure they do. lol However, I am true to country so finding songs from other genres is a challenge in itself for me.
Oooh pre-teen years. How fun. My oldest granddaughter will be 11 in November. She is ten going on twenty. So we are trying real hard to keep her a child as long as we can. Are you having a birthday party?

No, after Malcolm's big shin dig last weekend, I am partied out! We are going to dinner and then to my Mom's for cake. Yes, she made ANOTHER cake. The kids would die if they had to have a cake that was from the store. I think there has only been 1 time she didn't make one of the kids' cakes and that was because she had just had a hip replacement.

It's hard to keep them young with all the craziness in the world today! Jose is about the same. He know's so much more than an 11 year old should know.

You have a beautiful family. And you are so right, with today's world it is hard to keep them young. I'm going to keep little Dani young as long as I can. Her mom thinks they need to grow up fast otherwise she is afraid they will be taken advantage of. I'm trying to get her to realize they are only this age once.
I had a terrible day at work and just read this! It made me laugh so hard! Too funny!
I am sorry to hear you had a terrible day at work. Do I need to go to your work and straighten someone out??? Cuz, I will, well I will send FM cuz she's mad anyways so she can take her anger out on them. I do think she is on to something with that song tho. I just need to know who sings it. Sounds like something the Beatles would have done. lol
Good morning ladies. Today marks the first day of our second round with the Alphabet Challenge. I will be posting it later today. I still need to make my card. However, I am just waking up so....Then the rest of my day will be spent cleaning. Yay!!! My two favorite things...card making and cleaning. I hope y'all have a great day!!!! Here are ((((huggs)))) for those of you that want them and here are some ((((((HUGE HUGGS)))))) for those of you that need them.

I just think they should act their age, you know? I mean it's a bit overwhelming when you have a child who's 10 but acts 20. Jose knows alot of stuff that other kids his age don't but at the same time, he has a bucket and I mean a bucket full of matchbox cars that he will play with for HOURS if left alone. Plus he's still affectionate and wants to snuggle, so he's not all that grown up yet.. thank goodness.
My daughter was 17 before I ever let her wear a bikini. My mom thought I was being mean. Jasmine herself didn't really care, but when she mentioned it the summer she was gonna be 17 I figured I had held out long enough. She still likes to wear short shorts and spaghetti strap tops, but she doesn't dress inappropriately. She wears those things tastefully. Plus she is teeny tiny so all of things look good on her.
Anyways!... I hope you ladies have a wonderful day.

Oh Dani since I have done the Alphabet Challenge quicker than I have ever made a card, I am going to have a shot at this one.
I am trying to stop paper shuffling and dithering over my choices of layout/colours, embellies etc and just get on with making cards, so I think that challenges are the way to go....
Hello ladies. Well time with DH is super nice. However, he is working on some paperwork so I thought this was a perfect time to stop in.
Cricket, you are not the only one when it comes to the bikini. My dd will not allow her girls to wear one until they are 17 as well. She doesn't allow them to wear speggheti straps (which I don't understand why) but Dani trys lol...
Lauren, omg I am so glad to see you play the musical challenge with us!!!!! Welcome!!!! And wow what a card!!! Fits perfect for the song, "Take A Back Road". I am so happy to hear you are going to do more stamping and that the challenges are helping you do so. Yay!!!!
YaY cricket!!! both cards are coming your way soon didn't get a chance to send your last winning out yet ( very busy with my god son''s first baby luau) so i will send both out on monday!!
Good morning ladies. I am going to get started on my card for this week's challenge. I will post the new challenge as soon as I am done. Then I will post a link in here so y'all can find it easy. I hope y'all have a great day!!
