Thank you ladies. They are so patient and were measuring and cutting…with Nannie’s help as the blade is very sharp..eek. They did about 95% of it. I sewed in their pages..not very well. It was such fun and DGD kept saying Nannie can it dry quicker as I want to take it home and show mummy and daddy. Their covers took a lot of drying and DGD’s creased but she liked it. We will do an easier one next time.

Jayney, your poppets did an amazing job. I call my girls my 'twirly girls' and when Clare was born, she was my Hobbit, because she was so tiny. And there just so happened to be a travel agency in LaCrosse called Hobbit Travel, so I took a pic of their sign on the day she was born. I think I need to try junk journals with my twirlies.....besides cereal boxes, what did else did you use?
Everyone's work is looking so good....love it all! Long live mixed media! I feel like I'm just dipping my toe in.

Jean, for kids (and the rest of us, too), an easy way to put the pages together is just punch a couple holes in the spine and run yarn or ribbon through and tie it. If you tie it on the outside, you can leave the ends dangling and add beads and charms on them.
Jean just saw your post. Thank you for your kind comment. Here’s the first video on making the journal. I purchased the template for a couple of $$s. There’s 4 videos. The sewing part was the trickiest but I think because of the thickness of the cover. I put fabric on mine last year but the poppets used paper to cover inside theirs. Inside we just used scrap papers, book pages, magazine pages, etc. It’s fun.

Anyone like to do the challenge for August 15th? Also do we all want this thread to continue and in what format? I’d like to suggest that we go back to monthly challenges.

Jan I also made some when we did the playing card challenge. They are very similar but I think the cards are bigger..not sure. They remind me of mini canvases. I love the MM ones.
Nancy, I loved watching the videos and especially Marta and Darkroom Door. I had seen Marta’s video before as you know I follow her lol. I nearly bought that stamp set with my voucher. Now guess who will get into ATCs lol. I have been pondering on making some for a while but too many other things to do. I’ve still got 3 packs of playing cards to use up. I thought I’d use them in my journals and ATCs too. Great embellishments. I will make some once I’ve caught up on my other challenges. Added this to my long list lol.
happy day everyone

Hello all, I've been a bit MIA, too much going on (all fun, nothing terrible), DTGD is an added big challenge, I'm slow on making samples, haven't uploaded any yet, trying to stay current is getting away from me. I love doing all the challenges. So now I'm behind in ABC and MMJ. But I will catch up. Hope all are well, happy, healthy or working toward getting happier and healthier. I want you to know that I have joined Noom, a psychology based weight loss program online. It's going very well, I'm very pleased. The sad part is that I'm very good at losing weight, not good at keeping it off. Part of it is genetic I know, I'm tired of losing the same 50 lbs over and over. Portion control is probably my biggest issue. I don't snack, thank goodness. Anyway, I'm accountable to you now, you can ask anytime about it. I want to fit in my clothes, I want to see my grands grow up, I want to be comfortable going to the doctor. have a good weekend.

Hi there everyone, thanks so much for your lovely comments Jayney and to Shelley for directing me here to the challenges. Jayney I live in Tassie, where about are you?
Please let me know if I am doing this wrong!! Totally different looking forum to the ones I am used to.
I love mixed media and while my main area has been creating digital art for the past 13 years, lately I have felt the urge in getting my hands dirty once again so all the paints, glues etc have all come out of their dusty boxes! lol!
Here are some digital layouts I recently posted using the collage style:
Hi Wombat146. Welcome and so glad that you’ve joined us. Yep this thread is different from all of the others but I say we MM gals are different lol. I’m in Perth, WA. We toured Tassie for 3 weeks many years ago. Love the State.
Thanks for sharing your work. Will check them out later. Hubby is trying to get me off this site lol.
Have a great day. Keep safe and well…and warm…..brrr it’s cold here.
ps..what’s your name lol

Hi Ona!
I am a night owl! I did get carried away from your earlier posts and followed the links and bought a few things.... I am working on a travel folio for a Teapot Tuesday challenge and will use them for that! I can combine digital images, but do not know how to make an entire piece that way, still using cut and paste! and ink too!
I am in the US, in the Western suburbs of Chicago. We have 4 seasons and are in summer now- and have lots of humidity!
So happy you have joined us!
Catherine I’m so glad that you had a go at the collage challenge as I know it would have been out of your comfort zone. You did a great job.
Ona, beautiful and amazing collages. You can go back and do any of the challenges. We don’t do them in order and just when we feel like it. No challenge police on here.
I’m like Catherine and Shelly….still learning collage. I’ve followed Dyan Reaveley and like weird but I would like to try something different. I shall have to watch the videos again lol.
Hope you all get messy and inky.

Ona I’ve been looking at your pages. Wow you do beautiful and amazing work. I’ve been a scrapbooker for 20+ years but have always wanted to try digital. The only thing stopping me is the stash I have for scrapbooking lol. About 5 years ago I got into cards and found this site and now love MM, particularly weird stuff lol. Are your pages all digital or hybrid? I don’t really understand it all but would love to learn. Something else to add to my long list lol. Can’t wait to see your MM once you break open your paints.
What’s everyone else creating? I was going to do more samples for DTGD but became distracted..oops. Tomorrow is a new day. Have fun everyone

Hi Ona, your artwork is amazing. Lovely to meet you
.I’ve found a college/mixed media piece I did a while ago when I was just messing around, I will upload later in the week, we had an airport run to collect our neighbours this morning and hairdressers tomorrow early, it’s all go being retired.
Thank you Jayney and Jan for your lovely words! I love creating digital art, learning new techniques etc. keeps the brain cells alive I think! lol! With going back to 'hands-on' real art journaling it's a totally different ball game, I certainly am not as confident or as exploratory as I am with digi stuff so I have been watching a LOT of youtube videos and learning about different painting techniques, when to apply gesso to prime, how to do napkin transfers and how to use a gel press and heaps more ......... trying to find the area that I will feel more comfortable in but having LOTS of fun as well. I used to paper scrap many many years ago as well, and like you Jayney I am much more into the mixed media area side of things.

I watch all the videos of the techniques but things never seem to turn out as well when I try to do them.
i was teaching myself digital scrapbooking but now I can hardly remember the basics.
Welcome Ona! I love your digital creations!
I'm just trying to do more MM but even though I'm retired, it seems like I still never have enough time! As our friend Ann says, "People before paper." This summer has certainly been full of family and friends, which is good after the Covid lockdown.
Jan, I'm with you...I watch all these wonderful videos on techniques, but I never seem to get them quite right. Oh well, we each do our own thing and we are unique!
Jayne, I'm trying to get caught up on all the birthdays that I've missed. Your card went out in the mail Monday. I'm using old stamps sets and experimenting with stamping backgrounds. I really must find time to do some more MM. My DGDs are coming today for 4 days and we are going to my sister's cabin which has a really nice beach, so I'm not going to get much done for awhile! It will be fun, I'm sure.

Here’s some quirky goodness in collage form. I watched the videos and that led to a few others and now I want to try an altered book. Where does it stop??? Eek! I do not know what I am doing, so I blame Jayney for this intro to this new fun style. Ha!
Amy I am so glad that you joined us and glad you had fun doing the collage as you are a natural. Love love love your page. Keep going.
Have a great week and weekend everyone. Hugs

Loved the first video and that is where I got my inspiration for my Postcard Art.
Thanks Jayne! I got stuff out that I haven't used in years. Now what to o with it. Put it in a Junk journal? Put it in a scrapbook? Cut it down and make a card? Oh, well. I had fun and I like the result.
Sharon, your postcard art is awesome. You could do any of the things you suggested with it. So happy you played in the challenge.
happy weekend everyone.
