Morning everyone!
Shelly, you are up late, hope it is not too early of a call for you today!! Babysitting little ones, how fun!
The temps will be in the 90's today! YUCK! I missed Spring entirely! The yard is full of weeds and it is way to hot to be outside for me!
My arm is still hurting from the second booster. Not as bad but it is reminding me that it is there!
Foot still gives me grief, I am sure it will be that way for some time. I wear my high tops to help with support.
Kandie is getting her keys for the new apartment today and will begin to move fragile things over.
She said she is so very tired and not sleeping well. Also the a/c went out at the house! Movers come on Monday to take her things over to the apartment and then that is the last time she will be at the house where her and Ed lived. Estate takes over from there.
Have a good day everyone!

Catherine will be happy to know that Sammy is a girl! Vet confirmed today. Her eye is yucky so I got her July 13 appt moved to today. They gave her some immunizations and an antibiotic ointment for the eye. She goes back in four weeks for rabies shot and boosters.

Hi everyone, last day of VBS! Yay! I worked it out so that DD2 could sleep in this morning instead of going down the hill early with her dad. It means that I'm going down early this afternoon to help her get things done for tonight's program - admin. type things, moving crews seating around, restocking the crew leader bags with the night's schedule, name tags, etc. I'm so glad she was willing to do that because she really needed to sleep in. It means I have about an hour left before I need to head down.
I was so tired last night, I did do a little commenting on cards when I got home but that was about all.
Melody, thanks for the tip. I'll check it out...post VBS.
Ann and Jan, yes, both of your boys live in an area where few homes have AC. Shelly, like you, I couldn't survive this heat without AC. We've been triple digits down the hill this week and it hasn't been cooling off nicely at night here at our house so AC nights it has been.
There is a kitten that somehow decided to hide in the trash enclosure at the church. We've been trying to catch it, very concerned about the heat and its survival but it won't let us near - we can't even find it when we go to try. Someone called the church this morning (I get an email when they leave a voicemail) and she wants to trap it. I forwarded the message to the church secretary who is a cat lover and am hoping between the caller and her, they can catch this poor kitty.
Sorry your foot is still giving you trouble, Ann.
Praying and thinking of Kandie...
Yay, it's a girl, Kathy! Congratulations, girl kitties are fabulous! I hope her eye infection clears up quickly.
I'm enjoying a glass of sweet tea, I haven't had a chance to do that all week long!

This 2.8 lb. kitten thinks she's a tiger! She has been sneaking up on our old boy and batting him. So far he hasn't retaliated, but I think he hurts in his old age and he's going to bat her back one of these times.

Hi
Hi Ladies!
Kathy- so fun to discover Sammie is a 'she'! Love seeing the pictures! y DIL rescued a feral cat and her litter of kitties, and will rehome many of them when it is appropriate. She wants to keep a couple of the kitties : ) They are really cute!
Catherine- awesome for your DD to sleep in and get some energy for her last VBS night!
Thinking of your Kandie!
Today, had to take SIl to doctors office- her J tube slipped out yesterday (her feeding tube) . I drove an hour to pick her up, and hour to the hospital, then she wanted me to take her to Whole Foods, then to her home and she was ready to crash so said see ya. when we got there. She is #92 pounds with her tennis shoes and clothes on.....Traffic was pretty bad. Her home is close to a cemetery where there were 4 letterboxes....aka less than 1/2 mile..... so I had to stop. At the 3rd one, I tripped on a branch and fell down.... I cannot wait to see how I look tomorrow! Anyway, traffic home was not terrible, and hubby had the grill going and cooled Chickem, I made a couple of quick sides and was done for the night!
We are going into the city (Chicago) tomorrow, Ray will take out Katies pup and I will babysit my Grandniece Fiona : ) She is 1 1/2 and I have not seen her for a few months- other than online... Katie will come and take over and we will head home by 8 ish.....We may head in earlier and meet the group- not sure yet! LOL There is a wedding on Sis's hubbies side of the family.......
Sunday, we head out to Dekalb, where Northern Illinois Univ. is located, and will meet college friends here from Seattle area.... we all met at NIU many years ago : ) It is a touch over an hour, and I do not have to clean the house, so am fine with it : )
Waving hello to all and hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
Shelly

Ann I meant to ask yesterday if Kandie had moved yet, we were later back so I forgot.
we had a shock from the accountant, we don’t normally pay tax in Spain as Steve has a government pension but Spain has changed its tax laws so they have their sticky fingers in our pockets now , so now he will be paying tax twice on his state pension. We spent an hour while he explained, pretty boring stuff looking at figures, I felt like saying just cut to the chase and tell us what the the damage is! Haha, he’s a lovely bloke actually and he’s probably getting a lot of stick as we’re not the only ones.

Good Morning,
thank you for your hugs. I just managed to cook my currants to jelly and jam. I got 20 glasses .
Catherine- awesome for your DD to sleep in and get some energy for her last VBS night!
Shelly, I hope you aren`t hurt to badly. Take care.
Kathy, Sammie is just so cute. Thanks for the photos.
I'm thinking a lot of Kandie. I hope everything goes well with her moving.
Ann, it takes a week after the booster, for the muscles to process it. That's what the doctors tell us. I hope your foot will get better.
Jan, we have to pay taxes even if we are retired, we also have to pay for health care and other social Contributions.
I wish you all a good weekend, sending hugs your way.

I’ve just made strawberry jam with the strawberries from our garden, only had a few white currants as the blacks bird ate them!
Dagmar you obviously get plenty of currants, I think it’s too hot here from them so if they don’t produce many next year we will dig them up as it’s a waste of water

Dagmar, glad to see you posting again. I've missed you.
I got my walk in early because it's too hot to walk later. The road I took this morning was all in shade from the trees the whole walk. I don't go far, but I walk the road a couple of times. I even jog a bit to get my heart pumping. I'm hoping the back and leg pains ease up after I've been doing this a while. I started sometime around the time my dad passed. So at least two weeks. I started walking around the garden. We have a big garden. I went around four times the first two days then I upped it to 10 times. Then I upped it to 10 times walking and two times jogging and then two more for a cool down. The ground is uneven so I try to be careful. Wouldn't want to sprain and muscle or twist an ankle.

Glad you are getting in some walking, Kathy. But jogging??? Wow! I guess you are a lot younger than me. LOL Do be careful
Jan, paying taxes twice on that money stinks! So sorry they changed their laws. So neat that you and Dagmar are putting up jellies and such. Yum!
Catherine, thinking of you as you get a little rest now that VBS is over. Do you go today, to tear down everything or did you do that last night?
Shelly, I am sorry about your fall. Hope you have fun babysitting today and with your friends tomorrow.
Ann, have fun this weekend!
We had great food, games and fellowship at our Joy Fellowship at church last night. That is what they call our old peoples get togethers once a. Month. LOL
i am scrapping today. I took time out for lunch now back to it!
waving to Jayne, Gracie, Teri, & Melody, and anyone else I might have missed.

Hi everyone! We are done with this year's VBS - all but the tear down. We leave that so the church can see the set up and get an idea of what the kids experienced. I'm so proud of my DD2! She asked for thank you cards for her key volunteer people so that is what I have been working on today. I just uploaded a photo of the group of them. They are on theme.
I have great news to report about the kitty too. It was caught! I was concerned last night that it wasn't still alive as it has been so hot here and we didn't hear it last night at all. But, there were two traps out for it and one of our families caught it and are adopting it - yay! It is so tiny and adorable, DD2 wanted to bring it home but the mean mom said no!
Oh my goodness, Kathy, Sammy is so tiny and cute! Is the tuxedo cat that you called big brother the cat she is batting at? Wesley is so big compared to when we first got her. But she really isn't a big kitty.
Shelly, how are you doing today? Sorry you fell, ouch!
Jan, that stinks having to pay taxes twice!
Dagmar, yum to jelly and jam.
Kathy, great job on your walking - and jogging. That is wonderful.
Sharon, please tell me about pickleball. I don't know anything about it except it seems to be popular right now.
Have fun at your reunion, Ann.

Hi
I fell asleep on the couch, just woke up...eeks! I am listening to an audiobook, and I have to back it up alot....... It is the book for book club this month- we meet on Thursday. It is called, It Ends With Us...... it is 11 hours of reading!
My sis cancelled babysitting today- and will just have Katie come tomorrow. The traffic into Chicago is terrible and the baby is off schedule and ready to crash! So, we stayed home, went to mass tonight and then ran to Target and had dinner at Chipolte. I worked on some stamp carving. Ray finished Lincoln Lawyer ...... I had gone ahead and watched the ending..... another season to follow and I loved it again! ; )
Off to bed!

Shelly I used to choose audio books for Steve's Mum as she was blind and could order them for free, mind you it was a massive box to play them on all those years ago !
We’ve just started watching Inventing Anna, I thought it was a true story but at the beginning it says it is true apart from the bits that aren’t, confusing haha
we finished watching Outlanders, it’s brilliant but finished strangely although they are filming the next part.
we had breakfast on the seafront, went to Lidl as that’s the only food shop that’s open on a Sunday , good shop but awful check outs ,long queues but I love their potato salad made with crème fraise as I hate Mayo! Bought some bratwurst, love them too.

Catherine, yes the tuxedo cat is the one she was batting at. He is 14 years old and I'm pretty sure he has arthritis and other ailments. She will run up to him and stand up on her hind legs and wrap her front paws around his neck and chew on him. He lets her get away with more than he ever did Dean. But eventually he gets her down and chews on her. He doesn't hurt her but he does get mad if she doesn't settle down.

Morning!
Taking note Kathy, that you are at number 5 already! LOL! None for me yet! I don't get out into the next town to get any. Not many fast food places out where we live, you have to drive a distance to find any, or pay for delivery which is just as much as the food. But it is an option that we never used to have before.
Kandie says the movers come tomorrow! She is excited to start the journey of a new life. She said things are going wrong in the house, garage door not wanting to close, a/c still out, thinks the house knows it is being sold.
Man alive how did my classmates get to looking so old!! LOL! It was a night of looking at our 8th grade photos on the chest of everyone and saying oh that's who you are! There were a couple that went to the same high school as I did so those people I recognized more then others. One man came up to me and said I remember you, you were always so nice! Good to hear! There were lots of stories of the nuns being mean to students and of course what the student did to deserve it!
Shelly, oh my just going to bed at 5:30 A.M.???? You are a night owl!
Hugs to all, have a good rest of your Sunday!

Not feeling too good today. Just got back from urgent Care. Kept putting it off but finally decided I should not wait. Running to the bathroom all day long and not even going sometimes. When I got down there found that I had blood in my urine so they put me on an antibiotic. They gave me one for tonight and one for tomorrow morning because I think CVS is closed. Now sitting with my feet propped up. I was going to wait until my GYN appointment on the 5th but the doctor said it was good I did not wait..

Kathy I hope you are feeling better, did they say what was wrong?
Ann we used To go to the army reunions once a year and many of them were from our years inGermany, everyone recognised me but not Steve as he was a skinny young man back then with hair haha, it was fun to meet up with people that we spent the first ten years of our married life with. We haven’t been for twenty years so I can’t imagine if we would still recognise each other!!
Steves eldest brother went to a catholic school and was taught by Nuns, he used to say they were cruel, he told how he was hung out of a window by his ankles for some misdemeanour, our two sons loved to hear his tales of school days!

Good morning! Yesterday afternoon we did VBS tear down which involved removing a LOT of staples from the walls. We left the stage set up because 1. there is no place to put the trash and 2. our senior pastor has been away and, since there is no place to put the trash (trash collection is tomorrow morning), we thought we'd leave it up so he could see it. As it turned out, it was a good thing we left it up as DD2 has been contacted by a VBS leader at another church and they might be interested in taking our decorations! Yay!
We finally went out to dinner to celebrate Father's day for DH since his Father's day was occupied with VBS set up. We went out for a delicious Chinese dinner, so tasty.
Kathy, DD2 really wanted to bring the kitten home that was hiding in the church trash enclosure. Thankfully, one of the families that helped with VBS has property and two young daughters one of which had her heart set on adopting the kitten. I told DD2 that Wesley wouldn't like another kitten!
One of the attendees at VBS, whose mom helped, brought their adorable little dog to VBS several nights. Her name is Love and she is so cute. She is a shih-tzu something else mix and reminded me of our sweet Honey - only even smaller!
Thinking of Kandie today as it is moving day if I understood that correctly.
Ann, that is too funny about your reunion. I hope you had a good time. My high school graduating class is putting together a reunion for next month but I don't think I'll make it.
Kathy, I hope you are feeling better today.
Jan, I've had several friends who went to Catholic schools and they all say the nuns were mean. I can't imagine hanging a student out the window by their ankles!
Ann, windows open? That is fabulous. We are still dealing with heat but it is supposed to break later this week, may it be so!

Our old tuxedo cat, Jet, has taken to Sammy much better than he did Dean. Maybe it's because she's female but he lets her hop on top of him and wrap her paws around him and then he gets her down and chews on her but doesn't hurt her. It's fun to watch.
They didn't give me a diagnosis other than to say it was an infection. Now my BFF is having same symptoms! She has dropping bladder too, but her appt isn't until the end of July and when she called, they didn't have any openings before that! My appt is in 8 days.

Hi
My sisters kids cancelled the need for babysitting Saturday after all, so hubby and I went to mass and Chipotle for dinner, then hit Target for a few needed items.... and went home and watched the end of Lincoln Lawyer. I had already watched ahead, but fun to watch again! I know there will be a 2nd season now..... I love this show! Ray enjoyed it as well.
I spent many hours listening to the audiobook for the next book club meeting- which is Thursday- the book talks about sex too much for my liking.... It is called It Ends With Us. It is a sad book. I do not know anyone who has experienced Domestic abuse- although, have a couple of hunches... Youngest daughter had one same hunch as I did (today), pretty wild! The Book Club is meeting at a bar this Thursday...... One of my friends from church has a daughter that works there!
Heading to bed soon! I am quite the night owl! The other night when I posted quite late, I fell asleep on the couch listening to the audio book..... I like Audio books alot- more than reading.
Saw the dentist this AM, then had watercolor class.... then ran errands and did some grocery shopping and home in time to make hubby a quick dinner before he was off to his baseball game.
In watercolor class, we mixed primary colors and made darks, and painted a dark vase- what a cool study. I am learning yellow is a bully and wants to take over everything, so use it in smaller proportions. When one is use to coloring with small strokes, it is hard to transition to watercolor....LOL
I love you all regardless of your feelings about the Supreme Court Decision. We all have our reasons for agreeing or disagreeing with the decision. I hope we can all respect that and each others right to their opinion, and meet in the middle and enjoy that we have a mutual love for color(ing) and paper crafting!!!
Hugs
Shelly

Morning everyone!
Heat is returning today!! AC is on already due to humidity too!
Shelly, you are a night owl!! Wow, you were up late!
Although I should have gotten up and we could have crafted together. I was up at 2 A.M. and could not get back to sleep, 4 A.M. still looking at the clock! I hate nights like that!
Off to eat breakfast and get some things done!
Have a good day all!

Good morning! It is still warm here but it looks like, if the weather guessers are correct, today is the last of triple digits down the hill. Whatever, the AC in the new office space doesn't work very well so I may just wear shorts to work until that is fixed! (Or go back and work in my previous space, the joy of having a portable computer, I can do that.) The AC was one of my concerns about moving to this space but it is definitely the side of the building where it should have been the entire time!
Kathy, that would be fun to watch. I hope the antibiotics are helping.
Shelly, you are so busy! Your watercolor class sounds lovely. As for your statement about the supreme court decision, I must have missed something or you are being preemptive. I have been thankful that, for the most part, this thread has stayed away from such subjects and just let this be our happy place. That said, if more people could hold your position of loving everyone regardless of their views on whatever topic of the day, the world would be so much better in my opinion. Somehow we (the collective we not the specific Alphabet ladies) have forgotten how to agree to disagree and still get along.
Ann, I'm sorry you had a night like that and hope you can sleep better tonight. I'm hoping you mean a loose interpretation of foil as I do not have a foiling machine and, at this point in time, I'm not intending to change that even though it does such beautiful things.

Oh, Catherine, I'm sure you know you can use aluminum foil or foil tape (plumbers? or some such). Or are there such things as foiling pens? I'm with you on not having a foiling machine and no plans to purchase. I'm not big on glitz, so not gonna happen.
I'm working on a bit of reorganizing. I picked up a cabinet on the side of the road (actually, made DH turn around and get it), did a minor repair and need to change a couple things around to use it. This requires going through a bunch of papers, rather than just moving them from one spot to another... doing a bit of purging.

Like a bad penny, I have turned up again!
Just got home about 2 hours ago. Unpacked some, I'm very tired as I usually am when driving by myself. I spent a fair amount of time in a car as my sister and I did quite a bit of sight seeing. She's lived up there for a while but since she still works, she doesn't always have time to see interesting things. And it takes a long time to get anywhere up there. Just so you know, Wisconsin has more lakes than Minnesota does, even though Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes. We have about 16,000, some so small they aren't even named. I saw a lot of does and fawns, so adorable. We even saw what looked like a doe giving birth. She was running around but there was definitely something coming out of her back end. I guess if they get frightened, they'll do that. Didn't see any bears, fortunately, but have heard that we have a fair amount in SE WI. Not sure why they come around here, except maybe looking for new territory. A bear got hit by a car not too far from me.
One thing you might be interested in looking up is info about a Dr. who was the only doctor in northern WI in the 1930's, 1940's. Her name was Dr Kate Newcombe. There is a museum in Woodruff about her, such an interesting story. She was instrumental in getting the first hospital built up there. She used to go on snowshoes to visit patients. She was a woman ahead of her time. She probably delivered three to four thousand babies in her lifetime.
Shelly, hope you feel better from your fall. Ann, I'm sorry the foot is still a pain in the you know what. I walked around a flea market yesterday, I was hobbling last night. Kathy, hope you feel better soon, glad you went to the doctor when you did. Catherine, hope you feel rested now. Ann, can't tell if we got any rain in MF but the grass is looking pretty dry. Jan, sucks about paying those taxes. Jan and Dagmar, nothing better than homemade jam. It's strawberry season here too. I don't make it anymore, I just wait for someone to share. Good on ice cream. Melody, I spent a chunk of money at your family's store. Had peach and coconut cream pie....so delicious. Their pies were always so reasonable, but of course the prices have gone up. Sorry about the heat everyone is experiencing. Isn't too bad here. I think it will warm up a bit this week, then cool back down. I have no plans for the 4th and I'm very happy about that.
I will say one thing about Roe V. Wade....it is about more than abortion, but everyone focuses so much on that, understandably, I guess. I'm very disappointed. I'm concerned for my granddaughters. I'm done, thanks for listening.
