Good morning! Droopy eyelids here, I was up too late doing taxes. Yes, waited until the last minute because I knew we were going to be paying.

Gracie, your new flooring sounds fabulous. In Home Depot, a flooring that caught my eye is called Harrington Acacia. I liked that it had light and dark tones and browns and grays all in it and it is vinyl plank flooring.

Jan, so sorry you and Steve are both not feeling 100% - and to have to resume cooking while not feeling well is the pits! Praying you are both better very soon.

Yay for getting your furniture sold, Shelly. I have a couple of pieces that I need to list somewhere to see if we can sell them.

I'm glad to hear they have gotten Larry up and moving. Still praying!

Anne, hosta sounds like what we need in front of our house. Except it probably wouldn't thrive here. We need some sort of ground cover to minimize weeds but it also has to not be something the deer would eat to nothing.

I'm glad your migraine is finally gone - 3 days?! My mom used to get migraines. When she retired (she was a credit union manager), her migraines went away.

Have fun at your craft group, Gracie!

I accidentally gave DH a glue stick instead of chapstick and he's still not talking to me! 🤣

No, Ann. I read that joke on another website and giggled so hard I thought I'd pass it on! LOL
Kind of like the one Melody posted about giving up crafting.

Ha Kathy, that was a joke, right? But a good one!

Speaking of chapstick, a demo said it worked wonderfully to adhere stamps to a clear block! Would also probably work for the Misti lid, I am thinking.

We had vinyl planking installed, which is just a light oak color.

Anne, glad your migraines are over.

Yes, Gracie you were missed. Welcome back! You probably had major fun at your craft group today.

I am getting a really good book out of our library. I had taken it out before but had to return it as there was a waiting list for it. And so, I did not try the IP that time. It is called The Step-by-Step Instant Pot Cookbook by Jeffry Eisner.

Jan, that would be a major shock to do cooking. Your meals sure sound good though! What happened to Steve. I must have missed that post. Anyways, it is no fun to be cooking when you are still feeling weak.

Shelly congrats on selling your bedroom suite. Got to love that!

Ann, this is a major re do for you!

Melody have you recovered from your birthday celebrations?

Hi Victoria and all!

Got to go grocery shopping now!

Well that wasn't a very productive day at work...I definitely need more sleep. Speaking of sleep, poor DH is already trying to sleep because he has to be up and working at 1:00 am because they are doing an install. I guess today was kind of crazy too.

Kathy, you had me giggling!

So thankful that Larry is home, thanks for the update, Ann.

Probably, Ann, though I'll try to get to bed a little earlier since I was up so late last night.

I'm hoping to get some sleep tonight. My niece and her husband are spending the night with my mom and dad so DH and I won't have to get up in the morning to get him out of bed. And they helped put him to bed tonight.

Thanks for the update on Larry, I know they send people home quite quickly, hope Sharon is feeling Ok, she must be very stressed with worry, nice to hear the family are on their way.

shirl, steve hurt his foot standing in line for his second vaccine for four hours! I had a phone call inviting me for my first vaccine, I told them I had it last week, apparently they are checking 60-69 year olds to get them done before moving on to younger people.

our 12 year old GS had his vaccine last Friday and was fine!

Default Hello

Waving hello!

Gracie- we sold low just to get it picked up and Wow- the room looks so big without it!

Jan- hope Steve's foot improves quickly! Yeah for DGS getting vaccine!

Shirl- I have that book! I took the Instant Pot back, but have the book...LOL SInce I cannot return it, it will probably be a Christmas gift or donated..... LOL

Ann H- that is a LONG time to have a bad headache!

Catherine- that is a late night for your hubby! Ray has had to do that on occasions. So stressful too! Yeah for taxes done! We have to pay in as well, so hubby paid $$$ into my IRA which decreased the amount owed.

Ann- thanks for the update- prayers for Sharons family to have safe travels, and for Larry to have speedy healing!

Cathy- please be careful with your back! Glad there is help and you get relief. And, yes, the card just arrived when I sent you a PM!

Katie was going to come out for sinner Sat night, but she has strep throat! LOL And, I was fighting off something- I was freezing- had the chills and had 2 sweaters on...turned the heat up! Hubby talked me into doing nasal swab Zinc- and it worked! Felt OK on Sunday and perfectly fine today- yeah!

My hubby is starting his transition to his new job- so working long long hours! 16 hours today! He has meetings with a young engineer in China in the evening and has to have a power point presentation ready for him..... I make good nourishing (and tonight spicy) dinners for him and nag him about his posture while sitting! He took a break mid-day and went for a bike ride today.
(His new job is in a new dept but the same company).

So weird to not have Kandie on here telling us what day it is and all!

Waving hello to all!

Have a wonderful week!
Shelly

Morning!

Shelly the Ann's are easily distinguished! My name has NO E at the end!! LOL! Yes as you can tell it makes me angry when I am called Annie. One teacher in high school used to do it! My art teacher, and since it did not stop I dropped the course at semester! How rude he was!

Sharon, hope you are doing well and getting some rest! So glad Larry is home with you and you do not have to run to the hospital.

Jan, sorry to hear about your DH foot. Hope it heals fast. I think you need to get him one of those folding chairs so he could always have it with him. We were waiting in line to go through an attraction on vacation and a women had one with her. I was wishing I did too at the time!!

Have a good day everyone!

Good morning! Yay, I got more sleep last night. That's an excellent thing. I managed to fall asleep before DH got up and, of course, didn't hear him when he did since I sleep like the dead.

Kathy, I'm glad your niece and her husband were there to give you some relief. I hope you got a good night's rest.

Jan, standing in line for four hours?! Poor Steve, praying for a quick and complete recovery. I might have been tempted to just sit on the ground waiting that long.

Shelly, our federal taxes were almost perfect, just had to pay a small amount. The state taxes, on the other hand, we need to get that one dialed in better. I prefer to have to pay rather than the government have my money - interest free - all year long.

16 hour days? I hope he doesn't have to do that too long!

And I don't think I've heard of nasal swab Zinc. It sounds like I should look into it though. Glad it worked so well for you!

Hi Jayne! I'm glad you've heard from Kandie, thanks for the update.

Ann, that teacher was definitely rude! You should call people by their name the way they want to be addressed. I am named after my maternal grandma but she actually went by Katie. I would have been happy to go by Cate except I knew I would be battling two things - people wanting to call me Catie and people wanting to change my first initial to a K. It was just easier to be Catherine! Look at Duchess Kate, her name is Catherine but, when they write Kate, they change the first initial!

I've seen canes with a folding seat attached to it so you could unfold it and sit if needed. Seemed like a clever idea.

Hmm, just looked at the time. I will chat with you later!

My name is actually Kathryn. I've gone by Kathy mostly but my brother sometimes calls me Kate. It's funny but my sister Sue's real name is Evelyn. My baby sister we call Ellie is actually Dawn. Both Sue and Ellie's spouses call them by their real name. My grandpa used to call me Kate-ate-potate. LOL.

Quite a few people had folding chairs but one lady waited for her husband to move her chair every time the line moved, I thought maybe she had problems, he then spotted a friend in line going to opposite way and stood chatting, the line moved but he carried on chatting, they were fed up of waiting so the people behind her overtook her and she was left sitting there, next thing she jumped up and grabbed her chair and marched up to where she should have been, her husband still oblivious to the fact that she had gone, it’s quite amusing people watching!

I had to take our paperwork to the accountant yesterday, they have very steep stairs to go to the office so I went, we both usually have to go, the young man was so helpful, spoke English too, copied all my stuff and said he’d ring, then long lines at the bank I had to pay the car tax, steve sat in the car just drove me around, the hairdresser said she could fit me in for a trim on the way home so that jobs done, poor steve was hot sitting in the car for so long but at least some jobs ticked off the list.

HEadache back. Calling two doctors today.......PCP and neursurgeon. Had three cervical discs removed years ago when I couldn't turn my head, and that's where I am now. Hope it's not that in another set of discs. Will keep you posted.

Ann, I understand about the "E" or lack thereof. The only people who ever called me Annie were Mom and Dad, and it was an endearment. Middle name elizabeth....., so I always xhave to say there's an "E" on the end of Anne. A chore.

So glad to hear good news from everyone else......except for your DH working all kinds of hours. Ick.

Have a good day. Wish me luck in getting somewhere on a Wednesday!!!

Morning!

Anne, so sorry to hear that your headache is back. That's no fun!

It's getting humid here so everything is sticky as I am still cleaning and moving things back into place or at least on the same level!

Sad day today, son and DIL have to put their cat down. He is 17 years old and has kidney failure. Vet did not keep him after yesterday's appointment so they had to take him home last night only to take him in today for the procedure. They are all just in tears trying to come to terms with losing him. His name is Scoopy. And yes there was a Shaggy too. He passed over a year ago.

Good morning! It has cooled off here, probably a last little break before the heat of summer sets in for real.

DD2 just realized this week that she is only a couple of weeks away from being done with high school. DD1 had a 4 am shift start today, hopefully the birthday party across the street didn't interfere with her getting to sleep.

Kathy, that is funny about your sisters not going by their given names. It made me think of a time when my moms relatives all got together. This was when mom's aunt and uncles were still alive and they were all there talking about family members. They kept talking about someone named Nora and I had no idea who that was. I finally asked my mom only to learn that my Aunt Jackie (for that was how I always knew her) was named Nora on her birth certificate. I had no idea that when she moved to Oregon from Minnesota, she changed her named to Jackie! But her husband also called her Jackie. So your sisters might confuse the next generation that way. Growing up, I actually went by Cathy but changed to my full name in college. Now I don't even hear Cathy as my name so, if someone from my home town was behind me and realized it was me and called, "Cathy!" I wouldn't even turn my head. The only place I still hear it as my name is if I am back in my home town. Funny how the brain works. (And I know this to be the case because it happened in Southern California.)

Shelly, I have found that most teachers want to call you what you want to be called. I hope your DH still has energy to play baseball!

Jan, that is funny about the lady with her folding chair! Though I'm sure she wasn't amused. Glad you got some items checked off your list, that feels so good!

Oh no, Anne, sorry your headache is back and that things seems to be going in that direction. I take it your appointment is tomorrow? I'm glad you are able to get in so quickly and praying it is easily resolved.

Yuck to humidity, Ann. I'm so sorry about your son and DIL's cat. Sending hugs to them, our fur family is so special.

I should go comment on some cards, see how many I can get to before heading to work. Chat with you later.

Hot and humid here today too. I went to Walmart for a few things, but mainly to get some eye drops for Dad. He has glaucoma and macular degeneration so the eye drops are important. He's very subdued today and I'm hoping it's just a slight reaction to his covid shot yesterday. he just wants to lay around and sleep and my sister won't let him because she says his lungs will fill with fluid if we don't move him some. I'm glad we have her to help. While I was at Walmart I went into SmartStyle and got a haircut. Have been wanting to do that for weeks. When I got home I went up and watered the garden because we just put our plants in yesterday. DH filled his truck with garbage for the landfill and made a trip over there today. We still have more to go but for now I got rid of that old bowling ball that's been under the back steps for years! LOL

Well I can see i have missed a lot.

I didn't know there was a birthday list. Could I get one?

I'm so sorry about the kittie, Ann. Part of the family. I know it's stressful but sounds fun to be fixing up the house.

Hope Sharon and her husband are doing alright.

Jan, how is it that you don't need to cook??

Shelly, I assumed your name was Michelle. What a pretty name you have. I have to spell my name too, people want to add an -ne.

Oh I know I missed a lot. Yes very humid here. My daughter just told me that it's just as hard to get oxygen into your body when it's humid as if you were living at altitude. She's a distance runner so she pays attention to that. Her hill run this morning was tough.

Good evening!

Busy day. I helped with crafts at Senior Center and then played Mahjong all afternoon. My last time until September. We are leaving for Wisconsin on Saturday. Another 30 hour marathon drive! Oh joy, not!

Anne. sorry to hear your headaches are back! I hope you were able to get in to see a doctor.

Ann, so sorry to hear about your son's family cat, Scooby! So hard to lose our beloved pets.

Jan, glad you were able to get so much accomplished with your chauffeur Steve! I agree, people watching is so interesting.

Catherine, I'll bet you're looking forward to your Friday...a day off work, except there's always something that needs to be done at home. Wow, soon both your daughters will be graduated from high school. Doesn't it amaze you how fast time goes by?!

Kathy, I'm glad you have help taking care of your parents. It's still a lot of work for you though. It must feel good to get some things thrown out...especially that bowling ball. My SIL would have painted it and put it in her garden! LOL

Jean, Ann and Kathy, sorry to hear about the humidity. Yuck...I'm used to the dry desert weather and it will definitely be an adjustment when I get back to Wisconsin.

Shelly, just wondering how you got the nickname "Shelly" from Michaella.

Hi Jayne, hope your week is going well. Been a long time since we've talked!

I hope Sharon and Larry are doing OK now that he's home.

Thur. AM. Had xrays yesterday.....will hear from my neurosurgeon at 11:15. Hoping it's not more surgery. Pain is better today - isn't that always the way. Will post after I hear from him.

Fingers crossed, Anne. My brother has migraines, messed around with meds for years. Even tried Botox.

DH has had migraines since the late 90's. He takes imitrex injections (over 100 yearly). He started out with severe back pain. So severe he would crawl up the front steps each night after work. They did all kinds of tests and could never figure out what was wrong. Eventually the back pain left and the migraines began.

The human body certainly can be a mystery.

Good chilly morning to you all! I am sitting here with a jacket on over my short sleeved shirt because it was in the 40s outside this morning - yay! I think my date night tonight has been pre-empted by a board meeting my DH needs to participate in.

Humidity?! No thank you! And yes, definitely running in humidity sucks. If it is really humid, it feels like you are trying to run through water. I have an EXTREMELY low tolerance for humidity.

Jean, Ann maintains the birthday list and distributes it. I'm sure she'd be happy to send you a copy. Is your birthday on there?

Oh wow, Gracie, I hadn't thought about it being time for you to go back to Wisconsin already! That came quickly....returning to your poor internet...I don't blame you for not looking forward to the marathon drive either. You'll have a kitty along this time.

Kathy, I'm glad your sister is there to help with your parents as well. You are so good with caring for them, what a blessing!

Praying that you got good news from the doctor, Anne.

Jean and Kathy, that means your brother and DH are extra special guys suffering from migraines. For some reason, that has been a problem more for women than men. I have a guy friend who suffers from them and he tells DH and I that is it because he is special! I'm sure they'd all be happy to not be special like that. My SIL used to suffer with them but seems to have grown out of them. Actually, she changed her diet significantly and probably quit eating the things that triggered hers.

Yikes, I just looked at the time and need to dash. Chat with you later.

Scheduleed an MRI and MRA (?), certainly NOT a migraine. He and I went through all the scenarios. In 1985, he found an inoperable aneurysm at the brain stem. Nothing they could do for me, and yet here I am. In 2008 he removed three discs, replaced with titanium, stainless steel, and cadaver bone. That may be another option. Time will tell. Am getting along with whatever it is, and life goes on. If I can still make a card in the AM how bad can it be!!! Hugs to you all.

Hugs to all of you suffering from pain today!

Had my doctors appointment this morning! Recheck for meds and blood work! My glucose is up a bit but I know I had sweets while painting!

Air is on in our house! Can't take the high humidity, everything was so sticky! And so glad it is on, the neighbors are taking down trees and the chain saw noise is so loud, they were out till dark last night!

Plus! FROGS are in the pool again and I am sure we will find lots of tadpoles when we take the cover off! They are doing their think all night!

Jean, sent you a pm, need your email address to send you the Alpha list!

How can they do an MRI if you have metal in your body? My brother has a cadaver bone in his neck.

Kathy - forgot to ask you what type of towels did you get for the back of your furniture?

Youngest son bought me a recliner/rocker last night for my room and its cloth so I would like to
protect the back from hair oil too.

Kathy found this on the web:

If you have metal
or electronic devices in your body such as artificial joints or heart valves, a pacemaker or rods, plates or screws holding bones in place, be sure to tell the technician. Metal may interfere with the magnetic field used to create an MRI image and can cause a safety hazard.

i got them at Walmart. They are the Better Homes and Gardens brand. About $5.78 each, which is a bit pricey for a handtowel but they are very strong and thick. I'll take a picture and post soon.
