A fun weekend away- we drove to Kansas City (8 hours) with the girls Friday- 12:30-8:30 and had good traffic. Whoa- the humidity was thick! We all stayed in a hotel Friday night.
Saturday, we spent the AM with DS and GS and DIL met a friend. We headed back at 12:30 and met the girls for KC BBQ. DD1 and I went down to the River Market after eating, then went back to the hotel to get ready- I got a touch overheated with the humidity. The hotel was just 0.3 miles from the wedding venue, so that was good. It was beautiful and so wonderful to see so many people we knew for years too. We headed home Sunday, DS, DIL and GS here for the week. Toady we laid low- the baby was so cute, but tired!
Ray tried hooking up the new stove before we left, and it smelled like there was a gas leak. He tried again today with help from DS< and they determined the leak was higher that the connector, so we have to send it back- need a new one. It will be at least a week, so no stove or cooktop for the week- yikes! We will be OK. Tonight we cooked on the grill, and Ray smoked a Pork Loin, so that will be food for tomorrow and later in the week too.
I will catch up on the chat later- sending well wishes to all!
Glad you had a good trip, Shelly, and safe travels. Sorry about your stove, hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the replacement.
I have a question for all of you. I just came across a box of cards that I made at card classes. What do you do with a card that you've made but don't really like? Do you toss it? Try to recycle parts of it? I'm just looking for ideas.
Such strange spacing in the chat now...I guess it was another update?
Catherine, I have cards I’ve made and didn’t like, I either try to alter them, take bits off them to use later and if that doesn’t work I burn them!
when our son first went to live in America , in San Diego they lived on a gated complex, a lot of older well off ladies. He used to walk their dogs and look after them when they went on their travels, he said they always had some dog sat outside their door looking for our son if they escaped their apartments. He still looks after his ex bosses dog when she goes to Japan or away with work.
we had a very hot day and night, 40c and at 10pm it was still 37c, we had the aircon on but I woke up really cold with the covers wrapped around me! it’s going to be slightly cooler today, hopefully.
Catherine, I've thrown many a card away after making it for a challenge. I DO pull off embellishments if I can, but if I hate it, I won't give it away. If I just think it's ok, I donate them to the thrift store uptown. I woke up with a stiff neck. Not sure what happened but it's not as painful now after taking ibuprofen. I'm not spacing paragraphs since you all are having issues with that.
Kathy steve has a stiff neck, I’ve been rubbing it with muscle relaxer, smells of mint so it’s not too bad, es had it two days now. I hope you neck eases quickly.
Good morning! I made my alphabet card for tomorrow last night. This heat wave seems to have broken - yay! I know more will follow but it is nice to have a break from triple digit weather.
Poor DD2 is suffering with her cold now. Hopefully she got a good night's sleep. I hate that she is on the other side of the country and sick - not that there is much I could do for her if she was here. Poor Wesley is sad and missing her too - and has about another week to wait before she'll be home.
Well, so card sorting is another chore I need do...yay...not. Also, some of the cards I made several years ago at a card class are coming apart because I used inferior adhesive when I started. So, the ones I want to keep and use need to be reassembled and then others I just don't want to use.
Sorry that Kathy and Steve both have stiff necks, praying that resolves quickly! I hate when I have that.
I suggested DH chat with a handyman friend of ours about the window replacement. He has talked to DD1 and I and, while we can listen and sometimes talking out loud helps you think of solutions, we can't offer practical ideas which our friend could. Not that I don't have confidence that he can resolve it himself, I just know that sometimes I like to talk to someone who can give input too, not just listen!
Aren't kitties and puppies just the best!!?? What's going on with the site lately? Lots of funky symbols and what have you. Why is it double spacing???? Guess I should just have sentences run into sentences. I rarely throw anything away. Maybe I'm not fussy enough, I don't know. I live by the philosophy 'everything can be saved.' Glad you had a good trip, Shelly. So hard to be sick away from home, Catherine. Glad the heat has broken. We're getting humid again. I'm heading up to the north woods again tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone! I've been in such a slump and have to force myself to get going when I don't have anything pressing on my agenda! I have lots on my To Do List...but no "get and go!"

Dixie slept all night as far as I know. I have a baby monitor in my room b/c she is in the basement and DDs both have fans on in their rooms so they wouldn’t hear a thing! I got up at 4:30 and did all the puppy duties b/c I had exercise class at 5:15 and i wasn’t sure she could last until I got back soon after 6!
I’m so tired and may need to take a nap lol! 4:30 am wake up and a great workout will do that to ya’!
Those little flies are so annoying! Last year we had a few and they seem to multiply fast! I put out some apple cider vinegar in a dish deep enough so they drown! It works.
I'm stiff too lately, but it is due to pulling weeds. Kathy are you sleeping funny or laying on your arms at night?
Such cute animals!! Love the kleenx and the kitten!
I'm behind on commenting but will catch up!! Been trying to get ahead on DTGD cards with son number three coming in next week! Have to be done before he gets here and all the family comes over!
It was scary. Our phones emergency alerts all went off at the same time. I'm back home. The warning has lifted but they say more may come. I can see heavy lightning on my north side. The temps dropped 15-20 degrees and there is a breeze.
Lots of chat. Good to hear from you Melody. I was wondering where you were and I’m one who needs instructions lol.
Some of you are having our weather. Still stormy here and for the rest of the week. Gosh I’ve never seen it rain this much.
Have a great week everyone. Not much news here. I’m busy doing what Ann is doing and I should be doing what Gracie said but it’s a case of lots to do and no doing this end too.

Smashed my right thumb in the patio screen door today. The door sticks and I pulled it hard enough for it to slide and got my thumb caught in between the door and frame. Nice black spot under my thumb nail and it really hurts to press on it or squeeze something between my thumb and fingers. Ouch!
Kathy hope your storms have passed. We are joining you here. Stay safe and warm and dry.
Melody that sounds painful. I picked up a hot plate I’d had in the oven warming last night. Got a nice blister to show for it.
I managed to get very inky. Have 3 cards drying for DTGD. I’m sure living up to the name lol.

Melody, OUCH! I hate it when I injure myself. Hugs. My hands are so arthritic, it doesn't take much to hurt them these days.
Jayne, whooo hooo...glad you got inky! Maybe I can get inspired by you! I certainly have no mojo and am tired all the time. Not like me at all. Must need a swift kick in the behind! LOL
Catherine, I hope DD2 is feeling better. Being sick away from home is such a bummer!
Rebekah, I can relate to feeling tired! New puppies can certainly wear you out. Lucky they are so adorable.
Speaking of dogs, I have to take Sadie to the Vet for her yearly shots. Better run! Have a great day all!
Ann, glad you're getting inky too...you always amaze me with how much you accomplish!

Good morning ladies! Been a full morning here already. I was up at 3:15 am with the puppy! She had to pee and poo. She whined quite a bit when I crated her again and I thought I would have to go back down, but she finally settled in for the rest of the “night”!!I went to town for a coffee date with myself b/c I was going to be at the consignment store when it opened to take in my fall/winter clothes. I thought today was their first day taking clothes, but alas, I was wrong and it starts tomorrow so back in I go. I won’t do another coffee date lol. Usually I’m about a month late getting my clothing in....this year I’m a day early. Can’t win haha!!We are suppose to get bad storms today, so we’ll see what happens. I’m going to try the Kissing technique now and jump back into Alpha cards. What a hiatus it’s been. I also need to clean up my sewing counter b/c DD1 needs me to whip up some curtains and cubby covers for her classroom. She said for my birthday, I can come up with her to help her decorate her classroom. That will be fun day. I’m just so happy to be done with long big summer trips. I’m thankful for a happy, sweet puppy to keep my mind active and busy, but not a bad busy. It keeps me from ruminating or from all the dumb doubts and worries our mind can so easily get filled with.
Off to get that kissing card done. Muchas smoochas! ;)
Smashed my right thumb in the patio screen door today. The door sticks and I pulled it hard enough for it to slide and got my thumb caught in between the door and frame. Nice black spot under my thumb nail and it really hurts to press on it or squeeze something between my thumb and fingers. Ouch!
I did that last year with a storm window! Got my finger caught between the top and bottom and had to pry it out! My nail didn't change color so I was lucky, but it hurt for a few days!
Good morning! I am extremely tired this morning...DD2 hasn't been here to tell me to go to bed! Last night I was in a race with the clock to get all my steps in before midnight....then I had to cool down before I could go to bed. We had board meeting last night which is why I was behind getting all my steps in.
DD2 is doing better, hopefully she'll continue to get rest and stay on the path to recovery. Yesterday she went to an ax throwing place with her best friend. Her best friend's dad and boyfriend both work there. Today they are headed to an amusement park.
I like the kissing technique and should use it more often!
Enjoy your time in the north woods, Jean. That phrase always makes me think of Laura Ingalls Wilder.
Rebekah, you have had some early mornings! I would definitely be taking a nap!
Ann, the apple cider vinegar worked for us before but doesn't seem to be as effective this year. Can it lose its potency? I'm so sick of flies in there and everything has been scrubbed thoroughly.
I haven't even really looked at DTGD. Life feels overwhelming right now.
Yikes, Kathy. Tornado warning?! That is scary to me. Glad it passed, may it not come your way.
Lots of storms you all are experiencing.
Jayne, send that rain over to Oregon and California please. We sure need it to put out some fires...and it is only July!
Ouch, Melody! I'm sorry that happened, so painful. Praying for rapid healing.
Yay for getting inky, Jayne! I got a bit inky when I made my feather bridge card. Thankfully it washed off nicely.
Gracie, consider yourself kicked in the behind! (But not kicked hard, just enough to encourage you to get busy! lol) Hope that helps!
Oops, I just looked at the clock and must head to work...I am so NOT motivated to go to work today!
"Gracie, consider yourself kicked in the behind! (But not kicked hard, just enough to encourage you to get busy! lol) Hope that helps!" Thanks Catherine, I needed that! LOL Hope your work day goes by quickly!

Just wanted to share my good news. I talked to social security and I can get a nice amount PLUS they are back paying me to DH's retirement date in January!! I was stunned! Praising God for His goodness!! The woman I spoke to was so helpful. I didn't have to do a thing. Don't even need to sign anything anymore. you just have to verify at the end that all your information is true.
