Aw, Kathy, so sorry to hear about your sister. And your temps really dropped. Ours are down but not by that much, but we are glad the oppressive is over for now. That was hard to take. Never drank so much water and decaf ice tea in my life. Wanted to keep hydrated even if we could not keep cool.
Gracie, hi there. You are busy and I hear ya as I have fallen behind on the alpha letters now. Abby is such a cute name for your new puppy. Congrats!
Jan, the small town of Lytton, 96 miles from here set record high as the hottest ever in Canada. Then the next day they broke that record.
Just heard it is now on fire and everyone is evacuating. It is a town of about 250 people only.
Fires are happening already in our province of B. C. Some started by lightning but some from careless people.
Jayne, so sorry about the lockdown again. Glad you are still getting lots of cards, and how nice to get one from Karen and a letter too!
Ann, did you get rid of that headache?
Rebekah enjoy your trip. Yes you can do this, lol.
hugs to all,
Shirl

Waving hello,
Fun to Zoom and catch up with all ya'll : )
-Kandie!!! SO very glad to hear from you and that you are doing OK- and that your procedure showed negative results.
-Jan- glad you can get out- no lockdown with cases reported?
-Shirl- crazy to hear of the high temps- friends in Seattle say they do not have A/C...as did Annette! I am hearing about Catholic church fires- 7 or 8 now in Canada, many arsen!
-Hi Linda!
-Gracie- your crafty week sounds like fun! Oh, a lab- what color? And, my neighbor has a dog named Abby : ) not a lab though
-Ann- hope the storms are not knocking out your power.
-Kathy- so very sorry to hear about your sister. What is her name? I'll add her to prayer group intentions. How did your mom react to being IN a store, after a year?
-Jean- you have been on a rool creating lately! Mojo-licious too!
-Melodie- It is a big job sorting, but so very nice when it is done!
-Catherine- working without proper A/C must be miserable- and your poor daughter!
-Jayne- thanks for the update on Karen.
We have been researching appliances- our refridge is 19 years old and is getting loud when cooling. The microwave died (was only about 5 years old) , the dishwasher- gets stuck on a cycle so we have to be around and physically move the knob....time to replace! The stove- will look to donate. (It is about 10 years old- works great).
-ordered all new tonight, good sale this weekend!
Friday, DD1 is coming out and we are going shopping. We will have temps around 90, but the humidity is supposed to be less, but will go back up for the weekend.
(((Kathy))) so sorry to hear your news and hope all goes well with your sister.
Shirl, I hope it’s not too hot where you are. We’ve heard bad reports of the heat and people dying in Canada. Keep safe.
Gracie, enjoy your new pup. Photos?
Still in lockdown for a couple more days here but all good.
waving to you all.

Had one of those early mornings, up at 4 am to use the rest room, up at 6 am because of all things my back was itching! Not much sleep, fell back to sleep around 8 am for a half hour! Weird night!
The heat wave is horrible for the west and Canada. So many deaths already which a lot they are attributing to the heat. Hope it breaks soon. Stay safe and cool Shirl!!
New puppy, Gracie!! Pictures please.
We will not be getting a new puppy anytime soon. Sons work from home a lot and you know a puppy is loud and wants attention, just not the right time in our lives now. Maybe sometime in the future.
Gracie, how do the other dogs react to the new puppy?
Good morning! I keep hearing about the heat up in the Pacific Northwest. I monitor the temps in my home town in Oregon - 115 on Tuesday. Terrible! But at least over there, most people have AC. I have felt so badly for Portland/Seattle/places on the western side because they often don't have AC as it isn't really needed a lot of the time.
Shirl, I hope you are staying comfortable there where you are. I know you have had the high heat too. My hometown's weather has improved - Tuesday was the worst - hopefully yours has too.
The AC at work was fixed Tuesday afternoon. I didn't believe it was fixed so went to work in shorts yesterday but didn't need to. Hopefully what they did was sufficient and we'll be good now. Poor DD1's work AC isn't expected to be fixed until Monday as they've been waiting for the part. Working in the office without AC isn't nearly as bad as working at Starbucks in the same situation.
Jean, do you have cats? Just wondered since you mentioned the work being done on your street and the noise. My co-worker has cats and they were stressed by similar type work in her neighborhood.
Kathy, I'm so sorry about your sister and will add her to my prayers. I hope your mom's hearing improves after going to the ear doctor.
Shirl, I just read your post that the oppressive heat is gone for you now. Thankful for that! Sorry to hear about the fires, hope everyone got out safely.
Shelly, all new appliances! How exciting! Do they have them in stock or are you going to be waiting? I've heard there is quite a lead time for some appliances. I desperately want a new refrigerator. We had purchased a new one for our previous house - I finally had my dream refrigerator - and then the buyers wanted it with the house and we agreed...We were blessed to get a refrigerator to use in the interim and it is still the interim!
Waving hi to Jayne!
Yes, Gracie, pics of the new puppy please!
Ann, I hate nights like that. Maybe a nap in your day today?
DD2 is going to work with me today because she wants to go and pick out snacks for her trip. She leaves for New Hampshire next Thursday....I'm going to miss her! She is my late night buddy (and has started helping me get to bed a little earlier).
Here are photos of Abby. She is so full of mischief and energy! I forgot how much work puppies are! Jenny and Sadie are not impressed with this jumping, biting puppy! Neither is my cat Lola. Abby is getting growled and hissed at quite often. If you were at our house you would hear, "NO Abby!" about a million times a day.

Kathy, I'm so sorry about your sister! I'll add her to my prayers.
Shirl, so sad to hear about the fires and extreme heat in Canada! I hope all the people and their homes are safe from the fire. There was finally some rain in Arizona which helped contain the fire near Payson.
Shelly, how exciting, new appliances! It will be like a new kitchen!
Catherine, hello! I'll bet you will miss your late night buddy when she leaves for her trip next week. Maybe we should try to Facetime with the Alphas!
Ann, I hate restless nights like that! Hope you have a good day anyway!
Jayne, I love the new multi-media challenge! What a great idea for a journal!
Well, I'd better get off this chat and get a card or 2 made, since I'm grandchild feel free for a few days!

Oh my, that is one cute puppy!! Makes me want to get one, except the noise would not be good in the house. Athena is quite, only barks when needs something, not at people coming and going.
Thanks ladies. My sister's name is Dawn. I haven't seen her today yet. She's very private so I let her absorb it all and share what she wants when she wants.
Mom did well at Walmart. She didn't seem overwhelmed but I stayed with her until we got to the food section. We both wore out masks. Not many had them on. Mom is fully vaccinated. I am not
Adorable puppy! We don't have a dog because I'm allergic and because they require more attention than cats. I can put food and water and a litter pan in the room and go away all day!
Thanks, I think she's pretty cute, too! Luckily Abby is not a barker. She will bark at the cat now and then, but Tom tells her, "No." It's not fun to have a dog that barks all the time.
I finally made a card today! Yay! I'm hoping to get back in my craft room tomorrow, too. I'm so far behind on the alpha challenges this round. Doggone it!
Goodnight all!

Cute puppy Gracie. You made me laugh when you said that you say No Abby a lot lol. Abby reminds me of our son’s dog. She used to eat everything but is so placid now. Our next door neighbours dog yaps a lot. Usually when I’m trying to sleep. I don’t like yappy dogs.
we will find out shortly if our lockdown will be lifted tonight. I hope so. We have a family celebration this weekend. I also need to book in to see the Dr but won’t go until we are out of lockdown.
Shirl, so glad that you are ok but sorry to hear that there are fires, Happy Canada Day and to you all in the States, Happy Bobby Bonilla Day. We heard about this sportsman on our radio today.
Happy weekend everyone. What to do today…lol…same as yesterday I guess, We will go for our walk soon. Have fun.

Shirl The heat sounds awful, I hate to hear about the fires, so awful the the people, who loose everything, the ones in CA a few years I read there’s still people without homes. Keep safe
gracie the pup is so cute, looks quite like Freya and Evie, now they are really big and still boisterous, jumping everywhere, our great grand doggies as our G.s calls them
Thanks for the comments on our new puppy. Jayne, Abby probably thinks her name is "NoAbby." Lol She was just running all over like a mad woman and then, she flopped on the floor, sound asleep and snoring! I'm ready to go back to bed since she got us up at 5 a.m. I am not a morning person.
It is Friday already! Where does the time go?

Morning! Gracie, you are right, Friday already! I must admit I had to look at the clock to see what day it was!
That is exactly why we are not getting another dog right now, time and the noise for those that work from home. Athena barfed again this morning. Don't know what it is, she has had no human food!
Of course, it was on the rug I just washed!
Off to get laundry started and eat lunch/breakfast!
I think Catherine asked if I had cats....no, no pets at all. Can't have them as I rent. But I have grand kitties and doggie nieces and nephews. I hope everyone's pets survive the July 4th craziness. In Holland, MI, there are very loose laws about firecrackers etc and my brother's dogs are constantly traumatized. Birds don't like them either, many die.
Gracie, Abby is adorable. Labs and retrievers.....the all-American dogs! They are awesome. I hate to say this but I've found that dogs don't bark much at first, they seem to grow into it. I hope that isn't the case with Abby.
My daughter's two cats are not adjusting well to each other. The bigger, older one (but not by much) has set some boundaries but the young one has decided to challenge them. Not a good idea.
Beautiful weather we're having but tomorrow we will have heat again. I hope just for a few days.
I'm not doing anything for the 4th. We are having street work on my block, most of the last two weeks and it's been noisy. I need some quiet.

I forgot to thank Shelley for her comment on my mojolicious mojo....my cure for lack of said mojo is to create something....anything. The more I create, the more ideas I get.
I'm attaching some pics of two of my grand kitties...little one is the new one, Gus, the king of the tower is Finn, he's about a year. Both are very mellow kitties but Finn is not having it. I'd like to hear your captions for these pictures.

Good morning! (Yes, it is still morning here for another half hour or so.) I've been busy this morning getting the grocery list ready, doing laundry, etc. I still need to clean house.
Yesterday was a big day as I purchased and picked up my new work computer. Yay! Now I need to back up this one and get things over onto the new one. Apple has an easy way to do that but, due to a mix up on the Apple ID with this one, I don't want to do it that way...I don't want any possibility of that issue following me to the new computer! So it will be a process. It is smaller than this one - both in screen size and so much thinner. I just look forward to not having to wait for the computer to open something!
Gracie, Abby is adorable! What a sweet face. I don't think I'd be up to a puppy though. That is why Honey was perfect for us because she was older and already potty trained (though that part seems to have gone out the window now that she is even older!).
Facetiming with the Alphas would be fun!
I'm with you, Jayne, I don't like yappy dogs at all! I don't remember how long we had Honey before we heard her bark - a couple of months at least. She just doesn't bark or make noise. She does sometimes make a quiet little bark in her sleep. I always hope she is having a wonderful dream when she does that. We were dog sitting a friend's chihuahua (also not yappy which I was surprised and thankful about) and Honey is NOT an alpha dog at all. Chocolate was being kind of pushy (alpha like, I guess) and Honey just let her until, finally, one day Honey had had enough and she not only barked at Chocolate, she even growled! And we praised her for doing it which felt strange to do. We were just thankful she was defending her right finally. After that, Chocolate behaved better too.
I hope you get to have your family celebration this weekend.
Sorry, Gracie, I'm sympathetic to not being a morning person! And you're probably right, she does think her name is NoAbby!
Sorry to hear Athena threw up again and, wouldn't you know it, on your freshly cleaned rug.
Jean, that is good you don't have cats so they aren't stressed by the noise of the road work.
Honey seems to be a little hard of hearing so 4th of July doesn't seem to bother her. Things were pretty quiet here last year on the 4th. And Wesley didn't seem to be bother last year either. But she is older now, we'll see how it goes.
Cute kitties your daughter has, Jean. Wesley is a black/white tuxedo cat. Captions for your photos? On the kitty tower, Death Glare or "Don't even think about it." For the other one, "Is that thing gone yet?!" or "It's right behind me, isn't it?"
Jean: 1st pic: "Why are you climbing up here again. Get down" ,lol. Thanks for the pics of the cats.
Still thinking about the 2nd one, lol....
Gracie - Abby is a doll. My stepson had a golden lab for 13 yrs. And Payton had a threatening fire?
Yes, so sad about the fires in Lytton. The town is small but the surrounding area pop. of Indian bands is like 750 plus of Indian bands and they all had to evacuate as well. Some people did not have any insurance either!!! And some people are unaccounted for.
Shelly I want to get a new washing machine. I really dislike this new one that uses low water and the cycles are so long etc. Had it for several years. Maytag, but the newer kind that do not have an agitator like the old ones. I do not think it cleans clothes very well at all. It uses minimal soap and still it does not rinse properly. Going shopping soon for the old kind. Congrats on ordering all your new appliances!
Hi and hugs to all. Victoria, thinking of you!

Jean my caption for the first is the same as Catherine’s…..don’t even think about it. For the second one here goes and piggy back here I come.
Catherine, yes we are out of lockdown..yay but with restrictions. We are going for our family lunch in a couple of hours. It will be a quick one but nice to see everyone.
Happy weekend everyone

Catherine when steve had a new mini iPad he just put it near his old one and all his info magically transferred, we were amazed as he was worried about how he would do it.
our GS has gone camping for the first time, he is hoping to see wild animals apparently, they are only an hour from home in the wilds of Canterbury so good luck shooting them! They were toasting marshmallows last night.
Ann…oops….I did see I had them wrong and have edited my comment and deleted reference to ssschhhh you know what LOL. I couldn’t find anywhere about where we couldn’t mention dates but I will heed your advice so I don’t get into trouble by Higher Up. Gosh I didn’t know that we couldn’t even mention the dates and thought we had to promote it weeks leading up to it…..whatever next. I could comment more on this but then I would be a naughty bad girl LOL. Thanks for making sure I stay out of trouble.
Shirl, so sad about the fires. People who lost their homes here nearly 20 months ago are still struggling and rebuilding.
Our lunch was such fun and we had a wonderful time. We all wore our masks and even when we went to the loo LOL. Food was delicious and we came home happy and stuffed full.

Yes, it is a work computer - a MacBook that goes between work and home for me. I pretty much use it for everything, work and personal. It has been so handy to have a mobile computer for work and thankful they are fine with me using it for personal stuff too.
And pull ups kept me presidential fitness awards too!
Thanks, Jayne. I'm hoping people are responsible here in CA as it is too dry for fireworks.
Our neighbors put on a wonderful display again this year. I really enjoy the Big show they do because I can sit on my front porch and watch it and don't have to go anywhere. Last time I sent them a thank you card. I can't remember if it was last year during covid or the year before. I don't remember if they had this last year or not.
Happy 4th weekend to all in USA, and Happy Canada day too!
Hubby had a ballgame today and they won by slaughter rule (16-4)
We were supposed to get refrige today, called the store and they said there was a mess up and rescheduled to Monday delivery....and at 6PM, got a call here we are and new fridge here.... It is set up and plugged in and ready to move food over. I will do that yet tonight. Someone wants the old one, so they will come Monday.
We will go into the city (aka Chicago) tomorrow- usually a 45 or so minute drive to DD1's.... she works in AM and is going to a friends lake house, so we are dog sitting. There is a dog beach at Montrose, so we will go there, then to the bird Sanctuary (same park- it's huge). Close to her house, there is a gorgeous old church that is a Basilica and we will go there for mass. It is called St Hyacinth, and that was my Grandmother's first name (although, everyone knew her as Dolly).
I would caption #1 as- I knew I should not have eaten that extra serving of dessert....lol
too cute!
Happy and safe weekend to everyone. I'll be back Monday
Neighbors across the street put on a fabulous fireworks display again. I sit inside (no mosquitos) and watch out the window.
I think there must have been quite a few parties today in our neighborhood. Cars parked all up and down the street. I didn't go out at all except to water my plants this morning and pick some thyme, parsley and mint to dehydrate. The house smells like mint.
We just got home from the little town we live closest to as they do their fireworks on July 3rd. I realized 20 minutes before it started that they were starting it at 9:30. We jumped in the car, drove up there, and were walking to where we wanted to set up our chairs when the fireworks started.
It lasted about 20 minutes, then a quick walk back to the car, and home again. I love that they have fireworks as it isn't a huge crowd so we can do that.
