In Lewisburg at Big Lots parking lot seagulls gather. I love seeing them because we are so far from any shore, but don't hold french fries out the window!! Those birds will stop at nothing to get a fry from McDonalds in that same lot. Maybe they can smell the oil of the fries? LOL
Stressful things do happen in bunches, don't they, Kelly? My brother in law has asthma and he is using his inhaler quite a bit so far. I know we have an excess of pollen up here, for whatever reason. And it is very very dry.
We have gulls here, only 15 miles from Lake Michigan. I have seen signs and tshirts that say 'I'm happier than a bird with a French fry.' I love French fries (too much). Why did Jan and her husband cross the road? To get away from the gulls.
Seems like everyone is feeling somewhat better. My grandkids and their parents just got over their first colds in 15 months. They even had Covid tests, all negative. They weren't in school, not playing with lots of friends. A premonition of things to come, I think, as we get together more.
We are finally in the low 70's, no humidity. I'm heading north for a few days, I hope it's warm enough to swim. wouldn't that be a kicker, I've been sweltering, finally get close to a place to swim, it's cold????
If I'm not back on here, I'll talk to you when I get back next Monday.

Forgot to comment on Boost....oh my, bad memories of that stuff. My Mom had colon cancer in 2006. We chose to have her do some radiation and chemo because her margins weren't definitely clear. Within two weeks, she was so sick, she stopped eating. Her chemo doc told us to have her drink Boost, she couldn't even do that. We took her back to the chemo doc, who asked all sorts of stupid questions...is she depressed, etc., no, she is very ill. Well, make her drink the Boost. And how does one do that?? She put her in the hospital, turned out she had an infection in her colon. The doc who found her cancer pushed lightly on her abdomen, she hit the ceiling in pain. We had no idea. Antibiotics were ordered. That chemo doc came to her room the next day, didn't even come all the way into the room and announced to us that she was sending mom home with a feeding tube. Uh, no you're not. We stopped her treatments completely, never saw that doctor again. She had no ability of thinking outside the box, because her chemo was not a high dose, wasn't supposed to make her sick. Well there are exceptions to everything. Mom eventually was much better.

Good morning! Busy times, I keep slipping and almost giving away (or giving away) the secret that my brother is coming. I think I must not be getting enough sleep as I'm usually VERY good at keeping a surprise secret.
DD2 is so surprised at how many people have sent her cards to honor her graduation. I just love that people are loving on her.
Ann, I hate nights like that where I can't go to sleep. I'm glad you went back to bed and slept in. Are you feeling better?
Goodness, Kelly, what a month you've already had! I'm glad your DH is home and agreed, that is enough for this month!
Shirl, my stock of thank you cards was low and I didn't realize that. So far I've made 10 but will be making more. Yes, they are posted in my gallery. Last night's session (which she has already written in, by the way) I made three different designs but made two of each so the photo is of the two cards together.
Jayne, I'd be happy to send you some of our heat. We are expecting triple digits here at my house Thursday-Saturday at the moment.
Yikes, Jan, I'm glad you got away from that gull!
Jean, yes, I'm sure colds will abound because our immune systems have been so isolated they've gotten lazy!
I hope you have wonderful swimming weather where you are going.
Oops, just looked at the time and I'd better dash. Chat with you later!
Jean enjoy your trip, hope you get to swim, we are enjoying swimming every afternoon.
im getting the garden into summer mode, cleaning the rest of the garden furniture and putting it in place, we stack it all under the arbor in the winter as it’s gets so dirty if you leave it out, I also have to clean the BBQ, at the moment it’s fly season so we won’t be eating out yet!
Good morning. Time seems to fly so quickly these days!
Kelly, I'm glad your husband is back home. My sons have asthma and I had some scary nights and hospital runs when they were younger. Hopefully, no more ER visits for your family this summer!
Jean, I hate reading about incompetent Drs. I'm so sorry your mom had to go through all that. As DH and I take care of my mom and his dad, I notice that people don't "really" listen to them. As they've aged, they both speak so softly now. Aging is definitely not for wimps. Have fun up north and I hope you get to swim. It suppose to be in the 90's, so chances are good.

Good morning Ann! Sorry about the sleepless nights! Have fun with the grands...I can relate to food everywhere when the GDs are here! I think they are always moving that's why half the food never hits their mouths!
Jan, I was laughing as I read about you and Steve dodging the birds! I have a friend who is scared to death of birds...she would have been running and screaming!
Catherine, I'm so glad DD2 got lots of cards and had such a fun graduation celebration! On to the next chapter...
Take care all...too much to do and too little time these days!

Good morning! The heat is here, triple digits down the hill where I work, 95 here at home. Tomorrow the forecast is for triple digits up here too. Just in time for our family graduation celebration...yay...
Speaking of that, I've got to get busy getting ready for that...food to cook, house to clean, etc.
Jan, that was interesting to read that it is fly season. They have a season and then go away? Going away is wonderful!
Swimming every afternoon sounds lovely - especially over the next few days!
Gracie, does this mean that Miss Lola is feeling better now? I sure hope so!
I personally think that in retirement homes and nursing homes, they should have a photo of their guest when the guest was younger and a short bio of them to remind the people caring for them that they haven't always been this tired, possibly grumpy, person. I don't know if it would help but possibly.
I agree with Ann that your mom and FIL are blessed to have you and your husband.
Ann, your comment about food not making it to your grandkids mouths made me smile. I used to be so frustrated with DD1 because she was such a messy eater! Even after they were older, DD1 was always the messiest eater, DD2 was much tidier. It is funny how different the two girls are, and yet so similar in others.
Hi everyone. Just popping on to let you know that Kandie’s procedure went well and results are all good. Yay.

That is wonderful news, Jayne, thanks for the update!
Wow, what a day. I went from the idea of getting home early to getting home VERY late...just when I need to be home working to get ready for this weekend. My DH was down the hill today because he had a lunch appointment. He left for it and I gave him an errand while he was out because it was in the direction of where he was going. When he got back he told me he had a flat tire on the car he was driving. It was the rear passenger side tire. He took it to Good Year for repair and then didn't get back to them before they closed for the day so that car stayed down the hill. I left work and went to run an errand. I realized that the car sounded strange so I pulled over and found that the rear passenger side tire was flat on my Camry too! Triple A came fairly quickly to change it and I went straight to my tire store. I had picked up a nail...which was still in the tire which the tire guy said was strange. Bottom line, I had to buy a new tire and have to go back tomorrow to have them put it on. In the meantime, they put a loaner tire on it. Such a good tire company! I am thankful for where it happened so that I could wait in an air conditioned store and that the tire company I go to offers such good service.
Catherine two tyres is bad luck, I keep checking our tyre to make sure it’s ok.
yes Most of the year we get the odd fly but at the moment they are driving us mad, they sneak in the house sometimes on my hair or clothes, I have to kill them before they disappear somewhere, makes eating out not a good experience although the Spanish really don’t seem to bother.
I have all the excitement tomorrow morning, I have an appointment with happy jack as we call him, I have to renew my medical card, all he has to do is cHeck the documents, print a paper to say I’m waiting for a new medical card in case I need medical treatment, five minutes at the most but this is the fourth time I’ve had to do this and I’ve never seen him smile., my appointment is 10.46, why always an odd number!
jayne thanks for the update on Kandie, pleased to hear its good news,
Good morning! It is going to be a hot one here too - they expect it to be 102 today at my house, 108 down the hill at work. What weather for our family celebration. Hopefully the tire thing won't take too much time today as I am so behind on prep for this weekend.
Unfortunately, I suspect that the tire on my car was sabotage. Our church is next door to some apartments. There is at least one tenant who has a big truck with all the toys - boat, RV, other water toys, etc. For 2-3 years, he has been parking his truck with whatever toy attached to it across 4-6 parking spaces. We have talked to him repeatedly about not being there on the weekends, he is always nice and always does whatever he wants. The city sent us a notice that we can't store RV items in our parking lot so we had to establish a contract with a tow company and put warnings on his truck. No good deed goes unpunished, he and his mother were angry that we weren't letting them use our parking lot as their personal toy storage location - hello, the city made us, we gave them copies of the notice. The church secretary and I were concerned that damage might be done to our cars. I can't prove that is what happened but my DH thinks it is probably related after I showed him the nail.
Jan, I would HATE the flies! So annoying. That is funny about the unusual start time. I read something once that said you should use unusual start times for people to remember it, I have no idea if it works though.
Gracie, enjoy your time with your mom.
Ann, good luck with cleaning your craft room. Hope you can upload your cards.
Jayne, I've been making a lot of thank you cards for DD2 to write to thank for her graduation gifts. I'm so proud of her, she has been keeping up with writing them and getting them mailed promptly.
Catherine 2 flat tires in one day. Glad you are ok, both.
Gracie, enjoy your day with your mum.
I could not sleep last night. It's to hot over here. We have a heatwave right now and thunderstorms are possible. It will go one over the weekend with the heat. My craft room is under the roof, so no stamping for me right now.
I'm watering the garden in the early morning about to hours and in the evening.
Had a good day at mom's. She was a bit grumpy, but cheered her up by playing cards. I also brought her a small portable pedal thingy, to help strengthen her knees.
Dagmar and Ann, we have hot, muggy weather and a chance of storms here too! Very sticky.
Catherine, that is too bad about the nail. People are strange. When I lived in an apartment complex years ago, my car was "keyed" from front to back on the driver's side. :(
I was hoping to get in my craft room, but tired and it is so muggy right now.

Hi everyone! Hot, hot, hot here too. It is currently 100 degrees at my house....yikes! And 8% humidity. I just got home. We spent a lot of time at the tire store today. My new tire was put on and they put on new tire sensors so the warning light that has been on for months, is off now. The reason we spent so much time there is that the tire on the Yaris has separated so that is not repairable. DH has wanted to put new tires on it but, for what he wants to do, that requires new wheels too. So, it took us a while to find wheels that 1) we liked, 2) were in a price range we were OK with, 3) and were available. The supply chain has definitely been disrupted. I don't know if you have America's Tires Co where you are but we love them. Such a good company and excellent customer service. All of these things won't be in until sometime next week and then the Yaris will have new wheels and tires. An expensive day to be sure.
I should say that we have no proof that the nail was related to the people who were mad because they can't park there any more (which, did I mention, the city is the one who required it, not us). The timing is just suspicious but there isn't any proof.
Well, I'd better get to work on the house. They are asking us to not use a lot of power between now and 10 pm because the demand on the grid is so high.
Good morning! Where is everyone? I hope you are all managing to stay cool with the heat that seems to be everywhere - US, Canada, Spain, Germany. Thankful you aren't too hot there in Australia.
The surprise is out. My brother and sister-in-law drove down yesterday and they came over last night with my brother and sister-in-law who live about 7 minutes away. So DD2 knows they came just for her. Yay! Now to cook and clean today in prep for tomorrow's graduation ceremony and celebration. And we on flex alert for power again this evening - but I'm hoping to be done with most everything by then. I have the laundry going already.
Ann, I hope you are feeling better.
Kathy, how are your feet?
I'm sure I'll pop in from time to time today - I'll need the break!
Ann, 90 would be lovely here! We are at 86 with an expected high of 102. That said, our humidity is much lower. 21% right now, so it isn't like trying to breathe water.
There are cameras, I'm not sure if any capture that part of the parking lot though.
We are in hundreds for highs here this week. 97 here now, and it says feels like 100. I walked early, but not my long walk.
Catherine, what a fun surprise for your DD.
Yay Catherine! Glad your family arrived. Hope you get everything you want done in time for the fun celebration for DD2!
VSN tonight? Wow! I had no idea! I've really been remiss in keeping up with SCS since March! Just one of those years. Good luck to all who plan to participate. Have fun!

Catherine- so fun your brother and SIL were able to surprise your daughter- such a treat for her! Hope you have a wonderful celebration tomorrow. Wonder if the church should consider having employees park where the camera has their vehicles in view : ) Could be a safety issue : )
Jean- hope you stay cool and get to swim this weekend.
Dagmar- stay cool! Do you have a big garden??? We just planted tomatoes this year.
Gracie- so nice you got to visit your mom and play cards- nice way to pass the day away! Hope your FIL is doing well with his pain!
Sharon- smart to walk early-especially with the heat!
Did not sign up for VSN this weekend, as SIL here (from Mexico) and I was thinking there would be a family gathering..... there will not be one- we will see her at Katie's Sunday- Father's Day. So hope to get some stamping done tomorrow. Melodie- what time is your challenge???
Had dinner out with friends tonight- outdoor dining. It was not too bad despite the heat! We went to a Latin Tapas restaurant- delicious!!! They stopped by here after dinner and we ended up staying inside- so hot out : ) We have known each other's families for about 25 years : ) They are training to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in October : ) An 8 day trek.
Waving hello to all! Stay cool!!! (Except those in cool weather- Jayne- stay warm!).
Shelly - 5:00 central and I'm so glad the coordinators have special powers and get everything set up, because I'm going to be out eating with the family for Father's day.
Shelly, it sounds like you had a fun evening! Wow, your friends plan to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro! I've always wondered what inspires people to climb such high mountains. That's definitely not in my DNA. LOL I love admiring the mountains from a distance.
I actually made 2 cards for VSN. I doubt that I'll get them all done, but I'm trying to do a couple cards now and then. So busy lately. We are picking up FIL tomorrow and bringing him up to the cabin. They are managing his pain better, but he has to use a wheelchair now. Today we have a memorial service for a brother of one of our good friends.
Melody, I'm going to try to check out your challenge tonight. Enjoy your dinner with family.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Sheesh, I was afraid this would happen. I am now not getting notifications of threads. I wondered if this would happen by what I did to turn off the other deal, that Melody helped me with.
Hope you enjoy your dinner tonight, Melody.
Yes, we are now heading into much higher temps in the next few days. Dh, got the heat warning on his phone this morning. Just did a walk at 5, solo, because dh strained or pulled a muscle yesterday. Using a cane to get around at present.
We both got our Pfizer 2nd shots on Friday. No issues except mildly sore arm.
Catherine hope all enjoy the grad celebrations!
Hi Gracie, Shelly, Ann, Jan, Kathy and anyone else peeking in.
hugs to all with cooling thoughts for all of us in this hemisphere. Jayne you get cozy, lol.

Shirl, whatever threads you want notifications, you will need to click on the thread tools at the top of each thread and subscribe. The 2nd step will be how often you get notifications. You will need to do that separately for each thread you wish to subscribe to
For example, if you want notifications on the sketch challenge, you can subscribe to the main sketch forum, or you can also subscribe to each sketch challenge individually. If you subscribe to the main one, you can get once a day or once a week notices. If you subscribe to an individual one, you also have the option of immediate notices.
If you leave a comment somewhere on a thread, you won't automatically get notified when someone else comments, unless you specifically subscribe to that thread.
Yes, we had a great dinner. It's a place where you share what is ordered. You order different dinners and they bring out one at a time, and you each get some of it. I think for the 4 of us, we ordered 7 different things, plus DD and I also had creme brulee for dessert. They all like fish and seafood, but I do not, so I only tried the sides on those dishes. After we went for a walk along the river.
Good morning and Happy Father's Day! We told DH that we are postponing his Father's Day celebration by a week so that he will be properly celebrated. There was just too much to do with the graduation celebration. We had a lovely time. My SIL had us over for supper/dinner (whatever you call the evening meal, I use both terms) on Friday evening which was tasty and nice to see my brother and SIL from Idaho a little more than just yesterday.
DD2 helped me a lot with preparations for her own party. She made a couple of the desserts while I cleaned house and then I cooked other things for the meal while she did other house cleaning. I'm so thankful for her help.
We had her wear her cap & gown, had Spotify play Pomp & Circumstance, so she marched in and DH presented her with her diploma and I flipped her tassel to the other side of her cap. Took pictures and then we ate and visited. It was a lovely time. Today, my Idaho family is on the long drive home. I'm so thankful they came. DD2 didn't really think she would get much notice for her graduation and has been amazed by the cards and gifts she has gotten. She is more loved than she realized! Now I need to make more thank you cards for her to write!
Gracie, you mentioned wondering what inspires someone to climb tall mountains. I used to wonder that about people who ran half marathons - or ran at all! Then, one year it seemed like I was surrounded by runners which made me wonder if I could run. DH and I started running and then I trained to run a 5K. That wasn't too bad so then I started wondering if I could run a half marathon (13.1 miles). I decided I wanted to be able to say I had run a half marathon so DH and I trained to run one and then we ended up running two within a couple weeks of each other. (The girls wanted to get me a 26.2 sticker for my car but I wouldn't let them.) It wasn't too bad running them within a couple weeks of each other, we were already trained up! But I haven't felt the urge to run a full marathon...I'm only half crazy! ha!
It is still terribly hot here, thankful to have AC.
