Default Upload question

I uploaded for the very first time this morning using my scanner. The first picture is very small. You have to click on it to make it bigger. Anyway my question is...
Do I need to change some sort of setting to use my scanner?
--or--
Should I just take a picture of it and upload that way?

I'm not real computer-savy so I may need step by step instructions...sorry

when you scan your card, put it in the upper corner of the scanner. after the preview scan, crop everything but the card out before you do the actual scan.... if that doesn't work and you still have the white, edit it in some sort of picture program where you crop the white out and then when you upload your picture will be bigger.

Totally confused yet?
