Thanks! I actually ended up using the clear acrylic sealer on the cardstock before I started putting the tape on, and it didn't rip. Thanks for giving me another option for the class! :)

Make sure that when you cut out your image with scissors that you don't grip the paper too tightly or else the paper will bend and might look funny. I learned the hard way!
