Default June 2021 MISTI Monday Challenge #46!

Challenge Title: Use your PAPER hoard.
Hostess: MISTI Monday
Keyword: MSP46
Date: June 7th, 2021

Hello! Can you all believe that this is the 46th Challenge???? I, for one, cannot. We're almost 4 years old!!!!!! Wow!!!! Thank you for sticking by me and coming back month after month!

So a little bird gave me the idea for this month's challenge. In May's challenge, I posted that I was reorganizing my craft room, specifically my colored card stock. I'm happy to say that my efforts were a success! I'm very happy with my result. I also went on to organize my 12 x 12 paper. I'm happy with it, as well.

I have to be honest. I've been having trouble for the past couple months with actually entering my craft room to make cards. I sit down at my desk and have absolutely no idea of where to start. I'm overwhelmed with the amount of supplies I have curated in my collection. I have seen on social media I am not alone in this feeling. I'm sure we've all been through a slump or two. For some reason I've not had the motivation to create. I have no trouble buying, unfortunately. Sigh.

So this leads me to this month's challenge: USE YOUR PAPER HOARD

So I love designer paper. I have stacks of it. But I rarely, if ever, use it! It's sooo pretty....but it seems as though I just never reach for it when making cards. Maybe because it's just pretty to me, but really doesn't inspire a card? One of your fellow challenge mates says that she would love a challenge to use some of her colored cardstock or designer paper she's got in her collection, unused but much loved. So, of course I obliged. I've got tons of sheets I could pull out! And so I DID!

Some time ago I purchased a 'book' of 12 x 12 paper by Hackney & Co called Tell the Bees, Special Edition. The papers are truly exquisite, very expensive and begged to be purchased. I mean, they had only ONE book....I had to get it. Besides, I have a friend who is a beekeeper with her husband and I thought I'd make a set of notecards for her. Have I done that? Nope. But tonight, I did make a card to send her.

You should all be proud of my complete lack of white space on this card!!!!!

Along with the designer paper, I used a stamp from Impression of Obsession with embossing powder from Gina K. I used my MISTI with the large stamp to make sure I had enough versamark for a good impression. I didn't want to waste any of that paper. With the MISTI, not a scrap was wasted. Perfect impression! There's no way I could have done this with an acrylic block. The hello die cut is from The Ton.

Crafters, grab some paper you've NEVER used from your collection! Make something!!!! That is your challenge! Use your hoard. HAVE FUN!

Some of my attachments are sideways. Can't get them fixed....apologies!

UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS:

1. All MISTI Monday Challenge Entries must be uploaded to your member gallery, with the specific challenge keyword, no later than Wednesday, June 30th, at Midnight, Central Time to be eligible to win a $50 gift certificate to the My Sweet Petunia store! Way to go on using up some of your designer paper, especially the expensive stuff! Very well done! Now to put my thinking cap on. I, too, have designer paper I like but never seem to use. Using the expensive stuff is even harder, somehow. Hmmm...

How do you all organize your designer papers? Are you happy with your method? Mine are filed in folders along with the card stock of the same color, reds, greens, yellows, blues, etc. I wonder if a different method might work better for me. Often, I forget to look for them there. And then, too, with multicolored papers it is hard to know where to file them. What works for you?

FANTASTIC idea to use up some of our hoarded stash of papers! I love that paper and the gold embossed hive is awesome!

Well, this is timely! I have recently culled my 12 X 12 papers (kept on a commercial paper rack from a defunct JoAnn's), and sorted into color families. I was floored by how much I have, and also reintroduced to what was there! Great challenge, I'm betting all of us have stuff to work with on this.

Here is my very simple "Just Fluttering By" card using colored card stock and patterned paper. I actually didn't use any stamps. I will use that for the inside and with my MISTI it will be stamped perfectly!

I hope to play more later. Some of my papers will take more thought and creativity than this one did.

Just uploaded (I think) a card for MSP46. I don't participate often but I believe in Misti and I know the effort and time that MISTI Monday puts into this. I was not a good/accurate stamper until MISTI came along and 'she' gave me confidence (and saved me $$ lol). Well done to all of you - your cards are awesome!!!

I finally found my card lol. Anyway, I used my MISTI for stamping the sentiment - couldn't stamp on vellum without her.

Here is a card I made for this challenge.

MSP46 Golden Poppies by lovinpaper at Splitcoaststampers

I used patterned paper that is close to a year old and I hadn't used any of it. I was thrilled to finally pull it out and use it. I used both sides of a piece of paper for this card.

Lisa,

A year old is practically NEW!!! I'm pretty sure I have some teenaged paper.

This card has three different pieces of scrap DP in its design... and it also reminds me of how much I love my Misti. The stamped I used is an older wood-mounted one and I had such a hard time getting a complete stamped image. I wasted 3 pieces of CS in the process.

My card can be seen - HERE.

Jeanette, have you tried using the wood block stamp in your Misti? Dina made a tutorial showing how to do this. Wood Mounts In The MISTI Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers

I have done this with an old stamp positioner that is acrylic and has a square side. It really helps as you can place the stamp back in the same place.

Add your card to the gallery and place the MSP46 in the keyword. Then copy and past your card link here so we will be sure it is in the gallery. If not clear, keep asking.

I just received email approvals of uploaded photos. I copied the links from those emails. Since this is the first time in 10 years I have uploaded photos to my SCS gallery, I hadn’t remembered that uploads must be approved before anyone else can view them.

Thanks for your help, Lisa. I knew what you meant.

I had a great day in the stamp room...with a friend, she comes to play with my toys...brings her own papers and tape.

She had several pieces of leftover DP that she was going to throw away...I said NO...those are large enough for me to make cards!!!! Yep, crazy lady that I am.

SO...after Don takes pictures of my cards I'll upload a few for this challenge. I had a blast using DP that I had as well as her scraps. I won't upload them all but there are a couple that I think are really cute. AND I used my MISTI on each card.

I took my inspiration from whim6915's beautiful card and made this. MISTI made getting the sentiment stamped decent much easier. I have a couple more cards in progress and a messy pile of papers laid out with lots more ideas in my head.

Here’s another of my efforts. I’m still learning with my MISTI. I managed to get the placement more or less where I wanted it but not stamped well. On the other efforts, I messed it up when I tried again. I’ll get there eventually.

I used my Misti to place the stamp right in the circle punch out! In the past I would have wasted paper by just stamping all over the paper. Now I can line it up. Thanks Faye!

Joan I am with you...I have so many 12x12 sheets of paper...a stack of about 6 inches was given to me by a friend getting rid of her supplies...I made my card for this challenge using her colors rather than mine!

This card - HERE - would have never happened without a Misti. I bought the stamp second-hand, years ago. The previous owner trimmed the rubber a might too closely on one of his feet, making it nearly impossible to get a good stamped image. Misti to the rescue. (oh, and I rescued DP from my scrap file to make it, too.

I've made several cards this month using decorator paper pieces and my MISTI here are 3 that I uploaded (1 is for the Bible Verse Challenge also 2021 Divine Design Bible Verse Challenge by Julie Gearinger at Splitcoaststampers

DP Birthday by FayeMakesCards at Splitcoaststampers

Scrap DP by FayeMakesCards at Splitcoaststampers

Ps 121 by FayeMakesCards at Splitcoaststampers

This was a good challenge to get me stamping this month. I was able to donate almost 100 cards to the local hospital infusion bay area (not all made this month, I'm not that great! ALL of them made using the MISTI.

I love patterned paper, almost as much as I love my Mini Misti. Will need to get a new one soon!

My SIL was here this morning looking at my stamp room...she wants to get into making cards! She asked what the top 5 things were that she needed.

1) MISTI
2) stamps
3) ink
4) paper
5) more money

Sometimes all one needs is a single scrap of DP for a card (and a Misti for stamping, of course)... as seen HERE.

Playing "Challenge Catch-up" cardmaking just for the fun of it. I also love to use designer paper, and it's perfect for my card design.

Here is my card: Batter Up! Father's Day Alternative #2.

Default Winner of June 2021 MISTI Monday Challenge

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great June and a wonderful July 4th holiday weekend! I had a pretty emotional day as my eldest daughter left this morning to go cross country to California! She and her fiancé got jobs there and are moving from NYC. My middle daughter left today for her summer trip to Paris. Both daughters, heading in opposite directions and a mama who will be HOURS away from both. So I've been laying in bed, watching a dumb series and I realized it's the first Monday of the month!

So the winner is smileyj! The Dotty Hang In There card was the randomly chosen winner! I'll send you a message! Thank you so much everyone!

I'm going to post the next challenge card tomorrow evening as it's so late and I'm already in bed. Have a great Tuesday! See you tomorrow night!
