Challenge Title: Cheer up buttercup! Hostess: MISTI Monday Keyword: MSP41 Date: January 4, 2021
Hello my friends and hello 2021! I think I can speak for pretty much everyone when I say I'm glad 2020 is in the books. I'm looking forward to what 2021 will bring to us, as long as it's better!
Thanks so much for spending your 2020 hanging out in the My Sweet Petunia Forum, participating in the monthly challenges. I hope this year you will all continue to participate in your own sweet ways!
This month, to start the year off, I thought I'd go for a simple challenge to ease us into a new year! I called this challenge lovely lines, because I wanted to push myself to actually use the products I buy when I first get them in my hands. I don't know about you, but I'm more of a collector, than a maker. I buy gobs and gobs of new stamps sets, inks and dies....they are delivered....and then I put them away. I just absolutely HAD to have them!! Why, then, do I not use them? Does anyone feel they resemble this behavior along with me?
So, I just purchased some new stamp sets from Hero Arts. I purchased something not in my normal style....a line art background stamp. It's such a pretty stamp, although very far from my normal tastes. So I MADE myself use the background I had no business buying!
To make the card feel more like me, I used layered florals, which are my favorite. The florals are from The Greetery. I paired my florals and lines with a hello die from Pinkfresh Studios and a sentiment from Altenew. I even went so far as to use a color scheme that I would NEVER usually pick. I also recently purchased a Hero Arts Monthly Kit, the December one, and it contained a sparkly bright yellow embossing powder. I'm not going to fib...when I looked at it I was not impressed. It was a color I would never pick to use. So, again, I made myself use that powder. You will see it in the scalloped circle, making my lines so cheery. I also realize that the color scheme is not something that comes to mind during the cold month of January, as I live where there's 4 seasons. It's cold out. Pink and yellow are a far cry from ice and snow. But, I pushed myself and I really like the card! I hope you do too!
So my card will be going to a friend of mine who has ordered 4 cards a month from me. Her parents have been gone for a couple years, but she has a friend that she thought of as a grandparent while growing up, who resides in a nursing home. She's the closest thing to a parent/grandparent she has. When COVID restrictions didn't allow her to visit every week, she vowed to send her a weekly card. She decided she'd rather pay me to make her four cards a month, than to buy them at the big box stores or the dollar stores. I'm very thankful for that. I thought this card will go a long way to help cheer this loved one up.
Your challenge is to make a card to cheer someone up, especially during this time after the holidays. I would like you to use any element you see in my card, to play a part in your card. You can use the color scheme, use lines as I did from a background stamp, do layering florals or make a hello card.
Good luck everyone! Thanks for participating! Happy New Year!

Beautiful card Misti! I know Sis loves yellow. I usually use yellows for accents, but not bigger areas! Wonderful challenge! My goal in 2021 is to "shop" in my own craft room and choose things that I've never used but just had to buy! I think many of us can relate to your story, I know I can!

Loved your card! Yellow is my favorite color. Like you, I am as much of a collector as I am a card maker. I love to browse in my stamps and supplies and think about how I would make a card. It's therapeutic for me.

Uhm...the thinking is therapeutic? I already have more than enough but companies keep making fun shaped dies so I keep buying...don't buy too many stamps anymore, I'm not trendy...but I do like sentiments and you need a MISTI to stamp as many sentiments as I use!!!!

Dear Misti, My name is Karen and I'm a collector addict. I don't need help now that I know there are others! I have vowed this year to use everything new before I buy more new. I've had a very short year as I am putting in my SU order today to meet my quarterly quota...LOL! I have now moved the stamp sets I have never used to a drawer where I'm collecting for give away blog candy when I ready a certain goal on my blog!
Your card is just gorgeous - I love the layout and softness and good for using the powder! I'm more of collector but the goal for 2021 is to get. them. in. the. mail!
Aloha Mystery Misti Sis!! It sure been awhile so forgive me I'm rusty!! But I have made a few cards for this challenge I hope you and everyone enjoys !! And Mahalo Fairy Much for your continued wonderful challenge and sharing!!

Each of your cards are lovely! Please change each of your tags for the MISTI challenge to MSP41 not 44. That way all of the beautiful creations for this month can be seen together. I still need to get stamping for this challenge as I love yellow.

I hope I did this right???? Faye- has been encouraging me to do challenges.
I don't won a misti so I used an acrylic block. It would be great to own one. My arthritis is getting tiresome.
Joan, cute card...now do you know how to put it in your gallery?
Use the keyword MSP41
I hope you win since you don't own a MISTI...I have enjoyed my MISTI and use it for almost every card I make, even sometimes when the card doesn't have a stamped image as I can use it to line things up on the sides like I did today!

Joan, are you a fan club member? If so, it is not in your gallery. If not, we will see it tomorrow after it is authorized. It is a pretty card! Yes, you NEED a MISTI, as it will really help with your arthritis. Hope you win! Make a few more as the month is not over.

And, I have one more for this month as I have made quite a few cards to send to others. I love using my MISTI when doing strip sentiments that are going to be embossed.
Congratulations to FayeMakesCards!! Her Happy Yellow card was randomly chosen for this month’s winning entry!!!! What a happy and cheerful card!!!!
Thanks for entering everyone! I must say, this has been an awful month. Not only have I had winter doldrums, but a friend of mine lost his life in an auto accident almost two weeks ago. Been busy with the funeral, editing the video of the Mass to send those who couldn’t be there, and trying to help keep his floral business going during these awful days.
Looking at your cheerful cards helped tremendously. I tried going in to my craft room tonight to make a card, but had no mojo.
I’m hoping it returns so I can pose a nice card for you tomorrow for the February challenge.
Now that is a post that was happy and sad...happy for being chosen (it was a fun card to make) and sad for you with your loss of a friend.
I will enjoy using the gift to share the love of the MISTI...fabulous prize! Can't wait to see what challenge you present tomorrow...
Thank you for being a random picker, I would never win if it came to skill...many talented people on this card making site...and thanks for the fabulous gift.

So sorry Misti Monday that your friend died in a car accident. How awful for you and his family and friends. Very understandable that you are having winter doldrums with this crazy past year and Covid still a concern for everyone. Our way of life has sure changed. We no longer can get together to grieve the loss of friends and family. This makes it so much harder when we are alone. Big HUGS.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, Misty Monday.
