It's the last MIX of February, so I thought I'd go back in time a bit to the original art toolbox - the one you had as a child. I thought about what my very first art mediums were, and even before crayons, I colored with my dad's "map pencils" - yes, I'm that old.
I also remember that "map pencils" were required as part of the school supply list all the way up until junior high - because we were, well, coloring maps!
So today, I want you to get out those colored pencils! Combine them with one or more additional mediums, and upload them to the gallery!
My go to second mediums with pencils are: ink (obvs), alcohol markers and my trusty white gel pen. I frequently use a Copic multiliner to add back details like eyes, etc.
Fun to use my pencils today, because I've got my granddaughter here and we're playing together and she prefers to color with pencils, she helped me to create this fun critter by choosing the legs to match the ugly sweater and the giraf which is perfect for the F4A challenge Costumed Birthday

Thanks for the challenge. It reminded me to get my pencils out and I love the technique of water coloring with the pencils. I can remember the first time I knew about this technique! It was from a blog post of Lydia's!
I am playing my "Challenge Catch-up" cardmaking and catching up on a few Easter cards that I forgot to post! This Easter card was for my youngest son and his family, which includes my oldest granddaughter, who is five.
I used colored pencils, Copics, and a White gel pen. I don't think I did the process correctly as it looks like the Copic markers took over the end result, and I don't see the pencil coloring. Maybe it's because it's on kraft or that the colored parts are pretty dark colors. Mediums: Colored pencils, Copic markers, Gel pen, pigment ink distressing, dye-base ink stamping.
