If you haven't discovered the value of foam board, you are missing out on what is very likely the most affordable means of having all the customized desktop storage solutions your mind can think up.
If you've been to my gallery at all, you're well aware of me and my foam board kicks LOL I'm on another one!
This time I wanted to find a way to reuse something I already had. This was a punch rack originally, a couple of years ago when I made it, but now it's much more functional and pretty and it sits right on my crafting table and will hold all the little things I use most often.
Have a looksee . . .
These are really so simple and easy to make and so so affordable. The end cost of this project is well beneath the $10 mark.
There's another full size picture in my gallery, and lots of more detail pictures on my blog Paper Castle
I have a bunch of other photos that show how I made it, but not a tutorial per se but if you're ambitious and OK with math, you can figure it out.

How AWESOME!! You definitely are the foam board queen! I tried in the past to use foam board and could not get a straight cut to save my life lol! I could never come up with something like this, you ROCK!!
If you do a tutorial you can do it at my house, and that way I can take your second one that you said you would not know what to do with!!! lol
I went on you blog and you really did a great job with decorating all your cubbies. Enjoy your new creation. TFS!
i have 2 questions
1. what do you use to cut the foam board with?
2. what glue to join the pcs/seams together?
thanks!
1. Utility knife
2. Hot glue
It's important to have plenty of blades on hand because nothing will dull a knife faster than foam board.
And the key to cutting straight (at least for me) is to use a metal ruler with the cork board backing and not trying to cut all the way through at once.

Instructions and Measurements
HEY there! Where did you find the instructions and measurements for this great foamboard cabinet? I searched the blog and can't find anything but the pictures. I'm not good at "construction" so w/o the details, I'm lost. Heehee! Thanks for responding here or pm-ing me the link so I can get to them!

THANKS SO MUCH!
Your the sweetest! Thank you! My 13 yr old cousin is coming to visit the weekend of the 14th. She would love this storage bin. She's quite a little project hound and good at what she does. She has "tons" of bits and pieces and just might like to make one of these super neat storage bins to hold them. And ... I have TONS of scraps and paper so ... bring it on! THANKS again!

ADVENT
Last yr at Target I saw, similar to this project, what I believe was a much smaller, wood box advent calendar. If memory serves me correctly, I believe it was $30-40. This foamboard cabinet would be a neat advent calendar.

It'd be kinda big LOL Mine is approx 20" x 30"ish but it could be scaled down for sure.

I can't thank you enough for sharing your foam board creations. I plan on using them in my work area and am insisting on my son to build some for his "war gaming" area - I hate stepping on all those little metal mini creatures! But most of all I want to thank you for that awesome quote •:**:• My next house won't have a kitchen. Just a bunch of vending machines and garbage cans.•:**:• I think I'm making that a sign in my kitchen!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome pictures.

I remember seeing that too and you're right - a scaled down version of this would be an awesome advent calendar!
I was hoping to get a tutorial started today and uploaded for tomorrow, but I think it's going to take another day since I got side tracked going to the Home Depot to buy storm door for the front of my house, and then I made the sorry mistake of wandering into the tool crib. Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! LOL I need to be banned from that store. It's killin' my pocket book. I left with a belt sander, a grinder, a scroll saw, halogen lamps, some sexy kind of saw horse and a huge Husky toolbox cabinet that'd be the envy of most men LOL
I'll go get started now LOL

BTW, don't feel obligated on my account, to post pics of what you do with the sexy sawhorse! I think there's another site for those pics! LOL
You are a funny one!!! My husband is jealous that my toolbox is bigger than his! LOL
