I'll take your Thing 1 and Thing 2 and trade you with Things 3 and 4?
Totally feeling your pain (and love) with the kids! Only mine are GIRLS! They don't just want to play with my stuff... they want to USE it all up! Girls love stamps and especially love INK.. oh why why WHY did she have to make a mess with the Sta-z-on.. not the Stampin Up ink? Have tried out this super fine super good journaling pen I bought ? oh no.. she did *WHAT* with it.... broke the point and then tried to "sharpen" it with the pencil sharpener?!!!!!

No wonder I never take my stuff out of the boxes when MY Things are around.

Laura, so tell us:
- How often would you anticipate needing to close it all up so it would be tucked away and out of sight?
- What would your approach be for keeping the work area uncluttered so you'd continuously have open crafting/work space?
- What else would you do to the area you'd place it in to augment it (since our craft supplies exceed our capacity to store them, WorkBox or not! - LOL!)?
- Based on the photos of it, what if your favorite nook or cranny in it?

Patty, thanks for letting me know people are talking to me and I was ignoring them. **** Slaps self in forehead*****
Some of these are from our old house. Dh is a Marine and we move every 3 years or so. I tossed the cart Thing 2 was sitting in, but I still have the paper storage part under my desk. The picture dump is our current house.
I currently have the desk and hutch which you can see in the frat boy picture (Thing 2 in his skivvies wearing a lampshade) and a couple of bookshelves. So these areas would hold things like stamps, my Big shot, idea books, alterables. The Workbox would contain the things (Crystal Effects, glitter, EP) that the Things are so drawn to that are humongous mess makers and the items I keep close at hand. My plan is to leave a couple of drawers always available to stick current projects that are works in progress in so that if I need to, I can shut the awesome organizational demigod known as the Workbox. Also I can put all the suplies for one project away and get out the supplies away together and move onto something else this way. I get bored in the middle of swaps, and want to work on something else; but because I need to do the swaps, I leave that stuff out. My plan is to just put all of those supplies away together in the same compartment to easily grab later. I hate clutter, but I am constantly reorganizing. I think this will be an awesome solution because everything will have a good spot.
As far as my favorite nooks... OMW. tough decision. I love the pockets on the outer panels, the tiny compartment row, and the large cubbies under the table. I also love the table.
I'm happy to answer more questions. I can post more pics of my current area if you'd like. I haven't met my caffeine need yet this morning so if anything is unclear, just let me know. After another cup or two of coffee I'll be more coherent. Thanks! __________________

I missed the "how often" question I think. The kids are good about staying away from "the girl cave" when I'm home. So right now, it would get closed when Dh is home alone with them and when they have a babysitter for sure. If we were to live somewhere where I was keeping it an area where the kids have unlimited access, I'd close it up every night.

LOL -- so you mean, you haven't been awarded this beauty yet??? hmmmmm... Yes, I agree, for safety's sake - you should have this magnificent workbox in your home. Why I craft...
I have always enjoyed papercrafts. It was something I could become engrossed in for just a little while to escape. I began scrapbooking ten years ago when DH and I were first married. I instantly loved it and it was a great way to fill the lonely hours while he was gone on various deployments. I then started stamping right before Thing 1 was born. And since then, it has been such a source of joy. It keeps me from having to be carried off by the nice men in white lab coats. Raising two boys who live with autism and being married to a Marine makes life sometimes a bit overwhelming. Crafting relaxes and refocuses me. The biggest impact of any of my projects...
Wow, this is definitely not an easy question. If we look at our crafting project by project, I tend to think we think it is pretty insignificant. Something that may brighten someone's day, but certainly nothing earth shattering. However, every action has consequences. It's what physicists refer to as the butterfly effect. One tiny little action has ripples. Nowhere have I seen this more than right here at SCS.
A few years ago Renee(happystamper05) posted a prayer request thread on the demo side for Lauren(mytime) and her DD Alexa as she battled leukemia. So the SCS community rallied. We prayed, we listened, we offered encouragement, and we sent cards and gifts in an effort to do something... anything to make their journey easier. There were covert operations to send spa gifts, to send a journal with encouraging notes, and to make a scrapbook of the Meader's Make A Wish trip to Disney. I felt honored to participate in bringing this family any tiny glimmer of joy at this hard time in their lives. And in the process, I made some of the best friends of my life. Alexa couldn't quite wrap her head around who all these cards were coming from and as Lauren tried to explain the lightbulb went off, and Alexa said,"Oh your pretend stamping friends!" and the term was coined. We've been the Pretend Stamping Friends or PSFs ever since.
I had no idea when I sent that first little card and promised to pray for Alexa how that tiny act would start friendships that would bless me in so many numerous ways. I know I am not alone in this. We have nursed one another through illnesses, rejoiced with births, mourned and consoled after deaths, cheered eachother in our endeavors, had a few too many drinks, and laughed until we've cried. I could not have made it through DH's last deployment to Iraq without these beautiful women. There were unexpected phone calls, sweet cards, gifts for my boys. They listened to my incessant ramblings and tolerated my opinionated irreverence. They've taught me how to love strangers with an open heart, how to go for something you really want, and how to stand strong when things don't go your way. It wasn't exactly one paper project that effected things the most for me. It was a series of little acts of love that rippled and grew to a million blessings for myself and I hope for the girls I call my PSFs. __________________

Really love the poem! And your definition of coherent!!! Sympathize with the issues of thing 1 and thing 2. We have 2 ds's but we call our cats thing 1 and thing 2! They can do about as much "reorganizing"! LOL
