Our nearest IKEA is in Orlando (2 1/2 hours away). We go up that way in the spring and fall. We were there just last weekend.... oh........... I LOVE that store.

 there's an IKEA in Pittsburgh? How long has it been there? My dad grew up there and granted it's been a while since we have been there (my grandmother's funeral in 2004) but I had no idea!

It's been there since at least 1989. I went when I was in college.

Love all your stuff. I am getting a new room - a small bedroom size room as part of an addition to our house. I was planning to install kitchen cabinets and a formica desk top but now am wondering if I should do non-permenant stuff like this. What is the wooden top work table with the blue bins in the 1st picture? Is it Ikea also! (I have got to get to Ikea soon - 2.5 hours away but I know it would be worth it.)

LOVE all these beautiful rooms! Hubby was just asking me this morning (as he looked into my craft room mess) "What are we doing with this room?" I think he was actually asking - "How can we get rid of half of this stuff?" I'll have to show him all these photos!

Need an Ikea fix soon!

That sounds much more polite than my DH!! I've been waiting for 2 and 1/2 yrs for him to start on my little "crap" area - as he calls it. Right now, if he simply sands the walls for me, I'll happily get the paint brush out and build the shelving myself. But I'm so nice I NEVER, ever mention the 12 boxes of plumbing materials, 3 full sized mechanics toolboxes, nor the 3 cars still to be rebuilt that are littered through our basement, his workshop and his garage!!

I just stumbled onto your thread. Just wanted you to know....a year ago I had a big home sale, prior to moving....most things were from 10 - 20 years old....Do you want to know what sold immediately???

The IKEA things I had purchased within the previous 2 years!!

I had solid wood furniture, an antique hutch (over 80 years old) in excellent shape, and yet what sold??...the IKEA pieces....?? Go figure.

I live within 15 mins of an Ikea, my hubby took me there for lunch last week and 'allowed me' to wander around in the market hall and even carried the things I picked up. Go look at the baking items. They have a wonderful double set of Swedish Horses as cake tins (no recipies though a gingerbread would work well in them) and some great cookie cutters. I learnt a long time ago that a cookie cutter also made a great template so I use them for cutting out shapes that are a little different.
I would love to have a dedicated craft room, but there are two drawbacks, firstly hubby would finally have to open his eyes to how much I have spent on craft items LOL and secondly, I have just acquired a dedicated study/library where only the cat and the dog are welcome. Until he gets his train room, no craft room for me!

Oh my, I wasn't ignoring your question, just haven't popped in here for a bit. Yes, it is a small kitchen island that I got at IKEA. I love the large workspace that the top gives me, not to mention the two shelves on the front. Like you, my room is a small bedroom. I didn't want any of the cabinets attached to the wall, just in case the day comes that I want to turn it back into a bedroom. I wanted everything to be easily removable with little to no damage to the walls.

Good luck with your room. I hope that you will send me a link to pics of it when you are done.

This is the link:

I have kitchen cabinets and counter tops in my room. I'm not sure what you mean by "installed". My cabinets sit on the floor and the counter rests on top with wooden blocks to raise it up a bit so that the drawer slide easily. Nothing is attached to the walls or even each other. Mine have already been moved from one room to another room upstairs.

The only things attached to the walls are my Bygel rods that my punches are on and my Making Memories Embellishment Centers.

The Stenstorp Kitchen Island is on my wish list...has been for far too long. Guess I should just stop buying stamps and patterned paper...then I could take it off of my list!

Oh Katie, I know what you mean. IKEA is about 30 minutes from me and I have a Michael's and Hobby Lobby two minutes from my house.

omg! I love my local IKEA
we go there on all our 'hot' dates ie parent of young kid midday date...
nothing racy...lol!
and on our couple dates/double dates also with like minded people
and put the kids in the childlundkinder-whatever.... we love it!

I have trofast units in my stamproom and my dh just relented and got me a few more units so my 6 y-o ds and I are putting them together right now ... wheeeeee!

later, we have lerlberg units to make up
for the entryhall and kitchen and 'my' bedroom...
they are so versatile and cheap! and have held up well for different usage.. like in my ds's room in red to go with cars movie theme
now they are my other new fave units...

I thought I had old photos of my creativitorium/stampcave/rubberroom...
I'll have to check my sad gallery and maybe link you up...
when it is all tidy and refreshed I will upload new ones for sure!
thanks for "listening" --you-all seem to be the group that understands...
(said dramaticly)"the love that dares have 3 vowels in its name...."

try here ...
my storage solutions by charming at Splitcoaststampers

its on a totally different wall now and I have 2 tray drawers in the 4th down position in every tower.
I use them for cb/bs dies & machines/punches/cutting tools...
works nice because I can see down into them...
I promise to generate some brand new pics now!

Welcome to the world of this wonderful hobby! I hope you continue to enjoy stamping and continue to learn all that you can. SCS is a wonderful place (sometimes too wonderful, as a couple hours just flies by when your "surfing") to gather ideas, meet other stamping "fiends" (said with the utmost LOVE) and to learn more tricks.

Hope to see more of you around here!

I love all the Ikea ideas... Our nearest store is about a 12 hour drive away (boo!) so needless to say I don't get there often. It's a great store though, just wish it was a tad bit closer/more convenient...
