Default IKEA--where have you been all my life?

I got to go to IKEA today for the first time! I live at least 8 hours to the closest one, so this is quite the treat. I'm in love! I even kept all my purchases under $90. Trust me I would have loved to have spent more, but it must fit in the suitcase and not go over the wt limit (we flew). But my oh my, what a fabulous opportunity!

I could spend hours in IKEA! Love that store. I live about 2.5 hours from the closest store. I love there little glass storage jars. They fit on the MM embellishment center and hold all kinds of things like brads, eyelets, beads, etc. I bought big ones for buttons and primas. Now I want to go! LOL!

Agreed! The nearest one to us is in Pittsburgh, so it's about a 4 hour drive from my house. I've only been there once but am already dreaming about when I can go back.

I'm seriously considering a couple of these - http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70146688 - because I could use my storage that works (cubes and Cropper Hopper files) and there are no doors to get in my way and I'm thinking about a shelf just for my Cricut. I like that I could shut it all up especially as my "area" is going to in the family/entertaining area.

My Ikea is 3 hours away so I need to work it all out before I go!

I just need to choose a desk and measure my van to see if I can get it all in!

Welcome to the Ikea fan club! Once you're a member you never leave! I live about two hrs from the nearest Ikea and we are taking a trip in less that 2 wks. I can't wait! My list is a mile long with things I "need" ;-)

Another fan here! We went just this past weekend (it's about an hour drive -- just right for after Church on a Sunday!) and I got a few more Bygel rails and some other storage containers. I am in yet another incarnation of "The Great Craft Room Reorganization"! My fondest dream is to purchase the 25 cube Expedit bookcase with the desk that matches and attaches. SIGH!!!

Don't you just love IKEA! And if you don't have one close . . . you can always look online, but I love strolling thru their store. There are always ideas and more ideas! Good luck shopping! Nikki

I have four of the Alex drawer sets, and it's the best thing I've gotten for storing stamping supplies. Larger drawers in the bottom are perfect for large punches, shallower upper drawers will hold two layers of stamps nicely. It's great to be able to SEE all the ink pads, embossing powders, etc. at once just by opening the drawer!

I hope I do this correctly. Hopefully I am attaching some pics of my craft room that is furnished mostly from IKEA. It is a small bedroom that I turned into my stamp area. I have an IKEA about 30 minutes from me. I haven't decided if that is a good thing or a bad thing. ;)

Pam, your craft room is gorgeous! I would love to have a room like that! Thanks for sharing your pictures. The nearest Ikea is in Chicago, which is about 4 1/2 hours away for me. I've never gotten to the store there.

It is the Liatorp sideboard. It is on my wish list. My Ikea catalogue has about 20 sticky notes hanging out of it. Just need the money and the time now. LOL

the alex drawers are awesome I love that the bottom 3 drawers are deep enough for the big SU punches (i had gotten the rod system but i never pout them up and now love my storage for punches) also its quite big and holds quite a bit on top. i have my printer, stampin store holder thing, sU markers in the holder, and our wireless signal sender thingy (its 2 am so i have a good excuse for not remembering the name)

I totally agree - they are wonderful! I had bought one and I recently went back and purchased a second one. My printer is on top of one of them. They sit underneath a double window in my room, so I don't put inks, etc on them. I think I have some ribbon jars on the second one.

I love Ikea! I went yesterday. The Ikea by me is about an hour away. I got a Smille (sp) chair for 23. A side table for 8 which use to be 12 the coffee one. Some cd case storage. A plug but one of the small ones that fits 6 plugs for like 2 dollars. And then some other things for the house. I spent from 1pm to almost 6pm there.. just walking around and looking. My cart was about to explode because I went with a friend. She got a book case in the as is department for 48. Nothing was wrong with it! i think shes going again next week and if she does I'm so going with her!

I love Ikea. I've used so much of their stuff in my studio. I'm just so sad that they discontinued the storage boxes that I love in pink. They have orange and a yucky green right now. :(

My desk, Expedit, book shelf, storage boxes, glass jars, and rods my punches hang on are all from Ikea. I have two Ikeas within an hour of me, so I can pop over just about any time. I also drive a long-bed pickup truck. AWESOME for hauling home anything I want, LOL.

I love your pink accents!

Check Target online. That is where I got my turquoise boxes from and they had a nice selection. They may have some pink containers that you like. Just a thought.

jdpacificrim.com. I bought them about 7 years ago. They were the best price of any place I found at the time. I also had the 12 x 12 size, but I sold them.

On my first trip I was only allowed to take notes and look. Second trip the cash came with. I got a ton of stuff for under $30. Sadly my limit was $50 that!! I was soooo disappointed with myself.
We live an hour away, I love Ikea, but they shipping $$ stinks.

That was a neat room! I love the denim with the white and the bright sunny walls. I'm looking for a taller desk/workbench for my Big Shot and such because I like to stand doing that stuff.... That and I'm 6'1"....
