I sort everything by color too. My DSP I sort by dominate color.. that can be tricky because some are like green on one side, blue on the other, but I haven't thought of a good way to store that differently. I also sort my DSP by theme if it's a holiday theme. The rest is sorted ROYGBP, white, ivory, pink, black, brown, metallic, chipboard ( think that's it, could be another category). All my embellies are also sorted and stored by color. Makes it SO much easier. I agree, that step was hard to take, but once I did I can't imagine ever going back to storing by "set," or whatever.

I store my double sided papers according to the side I like best ---- not sure if that's the best way ---- but I figure that is the side I am most likely to use so.....
Thanks to whoever posted the Stacy Julian color videos - those are very fun to watch!

I have sections for each colour and two drawers for the double sided different pages. One is the type of card with heaps of images on one side and plain (or almost plain) on the other and the other drawer is the paper which has double sided patterned. Seems to work well

I finally finised my re-org by color and I think I should have done this a long time ago. At first I wasn't sure I was going to like it, but now after a few time using it, it's wonderful.
I got the Iris 12x12 project box storage unit and inside I put a smaller divider box for all the small parts (buttons, eyelets, brads, etc). I also have room for all my 6x6 and 1/2 sheet paper, premade cards, etc. I also included paint and colored embossing powders in the box.
I didn't include chalk, stickles, and glitter or ribbon in the boxes. I like my current storage system for these items.
Anyway, thanks to everyone for thier ideas because I just love the re-org. Another benefit, is I found things I haven't used in a while and added more to the garage sale pile.

Do you store your embellishments by color?
Short answer: NO.
Long answer:
You'd think I would, seeing that I am moderately OCD, but I have not ONE organizational gene in my body. Thank God my youngest son does. I do have my card stock color organized, at least . My dsp is sorted by categories that I can wrap my brain around.... female/male/holidays/etc.
The good and the bad:
Bad~ I spend a great deal of time hunting for things. I know I have that somewhere.....
Good ~ Every hunt is like Christmas. I am forever finding something I'd forgotten I bought and it feels new again. Also, seeing something unexpected like that tends to spark my creativeness.
Conclusion:
I would pay (if I had money! LOL) someone to organize my studio to the 'nth', but the truth is, it would never stay that way. I know me.

Each of my different kinds of supplies are sorted by color. My ribbon , flowers, brads, scraps of paper, and new paper. I use the ROY G BIV then neutrals from the Rainbow. It took me about a month to sort things. I picked a different embellishment every couple of days, but I know now everything I have and where to find it without searching.

This is exactly how I do it and I love the feeling of a place for everything and everything in its place. It's great to be able to go right to what you want.

Thanks to this thread (LOL) my color re-sort is now finished. I LOVE it. I wish I would have thought to do this a LONG time ago. I have various sized glass jars inside my color bins to help contain the small and medium type embellishments and a big jar for ribbon. I wound up with 9 bins.
It was a painful process and I had many doubts as I was in the process but I'm glad I pushed thru it!

Hooray for you! It is a truly painful, painstaking process initially, but you'll be thrilled now, and it's pretty easy to integrate new purchases into an already-established system. Good on ya, darlin'!
