Lightbulb a couple of storage ideas that are working for me

I just wanted to share these with everyone, in case someone finds them useful.

First is how I am storing my newer style SU and EK slim punches. I got an Ikea Benno Shelf (actually since the nearest Ikea is 10 hours away, I had my MIL get one and mail it to me). The door to my craft cave only opens up about 2/3 of the way, then it is stopped by the stack of Jetmax cubes, leaving a little bit of dead space behind the door. The footprint of the Benno shelf is so small, but it holds so much, and it fits nicely in the area behind my craft cave door that was just wasted space. The only issue is that since I am placing the shelves so close together, I've used up all the shelves that came with the unit and I'm only just over half the way up (started loading from the bottom to ensure it was stable). To solve that, I plan on getting some MDF board, to cut pieces the same size as the shelves, and get some more pegs. Easy enough. And it gives the excuse I need to go get the handheld Dremel mini circular saw I've been wanting. Bonus.

Second idea that I found is how I store my Big Shot. I hated how much space it was taking up on a shelf. I have a bunch of industrial shelving in my craft cave (which is also storage for everything you'd normally put in the basement. No basements here in New Mexico .) I got some hooks that are designed to clip onto this shelving from The Container Store during a trip to Denver. I found if you place two of these hooks just the right distance apart, they will grip the lip underneath the Big Shot and hold it up nicely. It is out of the way, not taking up any shelf space, and very easy to grab when I need it.

I love both ideas! Hmmm...need to find something for my punches like yours. I'm no where near an Ikea (the closest is 2 provinces away!).

My closest Ikea is in two provinces and three states away in Massachusetts (or a couple of provinces away in Ottawa if I want to stay in Canada)

Do you have a JYSK store? They sell some things similar to IKEA that just might work.

Hope this helps!

There are Jysk stores in Winnipeg which is 7 hours south of Thompson where I live. Thankfully they're building an Ikea there right now to open this fall. Woohoo!!

Awesome ideas! Love that Benno shelf thingy -- We have an Ikea about 3 hours away in Toronto. I feel a road trip coming on.

Where did you get the nifty little plastic bin for the small punches? Perfect size! I'd like one of those!

I got it from Hobby Lobby... it is made by EK Success. I got it a while ago, so I can't say if they're still available or not.

I was really hoping for quite a while that they'd come out with one for their bigger punches, but alas, no luck. So, I had to get inventive.

it is made by EK Success. I got it from Hobby Lobby about 1.5 years ago. Here is a link to it from the manufacturer's website:

Loved your idea for hanging the BS. I'm now looking at my shelf and thinkng how I can use that idea. I'm organizing my craft room and wasn't sure how I'd rearrange to furniture in a useful way, but this idea has got me thinking in a new direction. I'll be on the look out for these hooks on my next trip into town. TFS.
