Hi everyone. I have been looking for the cd cases for storage. I went to staples and they only have the jewel cases, same at walmart. Can someone tell me if that is the right case or is it suppose to be the regular size case.
My husband said he did see a case that was for 2 cds'. It was the clear case and then in the middle it held a plastic pc that you attached the cd to one on each side. He tried to see if you could remove it without ruining the outside container and he said it looked as if it would break if he did.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Paula

I've seen old CD's in thrift stores for 25 cents. You could buy some that way and just toss the CD! There is a tutorial somewhere on how to remove the piece that has the center pop up.
I have a large amount of CD cases that I rescued from being thrown away at work. I've already removed all the tray inserts. If you are interested in the details, just PM me.
Too bad we aren't closer - I have 100+ CD used cases I'm giving to goodwill. I tried using them for stamp storage and it didn't work like I thought. The cases break after long use, large sets need two cases, etc. I prefer DVD cases for SU sets and Univenture binders for all my other unmounted stamps.
Im looking to unmount my wood stamps and looking for storage solutions to im interested in those that say they store theirs in the binders what kind of sleeves do you use in the binder .. I like the DVD case idea however with all my wood stamps would cost a fortune to buy SU DVD cases and I cant seem to find them in the US with out that hub.. any different ideas out there

I ordered 200 from you, received and FILLED THEM ALREADY!!!!
Jewel cases are CD cases. You needs standard ones though, not slim.
Yep! They are... and sometimes you just have to order them on line at Staples I got mine next day delivery for $5 shipping, they WILL ship to store FREE though!!! ;)
I always get the BIG packs of them!!! Just dont get your manicure BEFORE you get them because you DO have to pop them suckers apart!!!

It's not so bad once you get the hang of it. While removing the trays from over 2,000 cases, I developed a method that is quite easy on the fingernails.
I bought my DVD cases from them so I checked to see if they had CD cases and they do. If you put cd cases in their search box it shows all the types they have. These are the standard size which is what you would need. You just need to pop out the piece that holds the CD. It's not difficult to do.

I have some left that I bought on Ebay for the same reason that you want to use them. I have lots left and will sell them for .25 each plus postage but I don't know what that will be. If you are interested in some I will check out the postage. Tricia

I also have been looking. I Love the SU cases but can not find any just like that to buy in bulk. Has anyone else? I wonder where SU buys them?
I was just cleaning out a closet and I found two huge bundles of NEW CD cases without the inserts. I used these for my TAC stamps when I was buying those. I will ship all that can fit in a flat rate priority box for $10.50. Just the cost of the postage. If anyone is interested please PM me. I believe the box will fit between 30 & 35 cases.
blessings.
deb-just a heads up. the SU price is going up by a dollar in the new catalog
And they were so expensive to begin with, and will probably be even higher in the Canadian catalogue. The only place I found something similar was at Stamp by Step for $50 for 50 cases but the shipping to Canada is over $30. I've read elsewhere that the quality of these ones are not as good as the SU version.
I've Googled several different terms and trying to find another source, even for a larger bulk purchase, but I can't find anything close or cheaper than the above. All the ones I find seem to have the hub as part of the main case molded in the same clear plastic all in one piece. There has to someone who knows where Stamp by Step and/or SU gets these things. I even requested a custom quote from U-line and they declined. The person that cracks this nut will deserve a medal :-)

ok wondering.. you guys are saying Kmart.. Big Lots.. is this for the CD cases or the DVD cases with the removable inserts??
I'm thinking they're talking CD not DVD sized cases. On my last trip to the US, I checked KMart in Bangor, ME, Portsmouth, NH, and one near Leominster, MA and saw no DVD-style cases like this. I also checked Big Lots in Portsmouth, NH and another one near Leominster, MA with no luck.

Those ones are all molded with a circular shape where the CD/DVD sits. The hub might come out but you'd still have that circular ridge in the case taking up space a stamp could sit. The kind I'm looking for would be have back side with no ridge and would look exactly like the front side of the case look - with no circular ridge for a CD/DVD to nest in.

yes I agree I would like to find them without the insides of the DVD parts.
CD cases can be found out in the general market...I always purchase mine at KMart. I have tried Big Lots but usually it is hit and miss there.
DVD cases...I love these from Stamp-by-Step. They have nothing to remove. In my opinion, they are sturdy. You can buy them by the sets of 50 or by sets of 5 which is how I have purchased them...I only needed a few for my oversized (European-sized) stamps like Popcorn the Bear. All my other stamps are in CD cases.

Those are the ones I like but the shipping to Canada on a set of 50 is over $30, making them still a bit pricey for my budget.

These DVD cases from Stamp-by-Step are prefect for me! as was the price! Of course I did get the 50-and have filled over half of them!
Just want to let everyone know, if you've chosen to go with using CD cases for your stamp storage, if you want bulk, 100 or more, I have a bunch to sell. I sell them for $1 for 10 (so $10 for 100), plus $2 handling, plus the actual shipping charge. Anything less than 100 cases is not a good deal due to shipping cost, although I will sell smaller groups if you want. If you are interested, contact me with your zip code and the number of cases you'd like, and I will tell you how much shipping will cost and the total cost.
Before I switched over the the SU! cases - I used to buy from Sleeve City. You can get discounts based on how many you buy at one time. Here is their link. http://www.sleevetown.com/sleevecity-menu.gif
