Default 12 x 12 three drawer by Sterilite

I have been re-organizing my craft room, again, and have many of the 3 12x12 plastic drawers by Sterilite and just wondering if anyone uses them for anything besides storing paper. When I say many, I mean over a dozen of them. I use to keep my Stampin Up paper in them in manilla folders with 4 to a drawer. I have since changed out to the filing cubes and store my 12x12, 8 1/2x11 and my scraps all in one hanging folder per color. Now I find myself with all these plastic drawer units. Looking to see if anyone has hidden storage ideas they use them for.

Thanks
Lisa

I use one of mine for ribbon. I have them all unspooled and wrapped around cards that fit. I got the idea here on the forum but of course can't remember who posted it!

Here's a link to one ribbon storage idea that uses units with three drawers:

WOW!!! I wasn't even thinking for ribbon and now I want to do it. I kind of have my ribbon organized but I really like how the Amazing Ribbon Storage looked. Right now I have my ribbon in the cube with 3 drawers, on 2 ribbon shelves with the wood dowel and 6 photo boxes I made into ribbon storage. The wood dowel is too thick and 99% of my Stampin Up ribbons don't even fit on it. The wood drawer stores all my non-Stampin Up ribbons. I woudln't know what to do with my photo box ones I made. I put a lot of time into them but have them stacked and ribbons get a little lost when looking at them. I'll take a pic of them in the morning so you see what I mean. Hmmmm. Looks like another round of moving my jetmax cubes around to make room for my new ribbon storage. Any other ideas for the drawer system????

Yes that is the one! Though I only have one drawer and it isn't full.

I have seen people do buttons in them, but to me they are a little big for that. You could use foam core board to make dividers though I guess! I use my non ribbon drawers for scraps.

You could... Send one to me! I need to get two more ;).

If you're like me and you have many, many ink pads from several companies (all shapes and sizes) you can store inks by color. I have a drawer for greens, a drawer for blues, etc.

You said you might do the ribbon thing but you also asked for more suggestions. Something I remembered from long ago was that Stacey Julian (from Big Picture Scrapbooking) said she divided all of her embellishments and everything by color into those drawer units. She had drawers for every color in the rainbow (R.O.Y.G.B.I.V.) plus neutrals. She showed photos of a couple of them, and there was everything in them! She had ribbon, flowers, brads, buttons and even paper (I would leave out the paper, but that's just me). I thought her idea was cool, but at the same point in time, I do not create by color. I create with more of a hodge-podge, mix & match patterns type of thing. I have my cardstock, ribbon, buttons, etc all sorted by type, then mfgr and color. I wouldn't want to keep it all by color in one drawer, but if you are driven to create things by color, then I think that would be a good way to go.

HTH!

The idea Stu had is great. I also store my ribbon that way and it saves so much room. I used the sterlite to pack away my seasonal stamps. I have a beautiful cabinet to put my everyday stamps in. But I don't need my seasonal stamps to take up room throughout the year, so I put my fall, halloween, Christmas and Easter stamps away. When I start making my seasonal cards, I'll take them out.

I followed Stacy Julian's idea and have my embellies stored by color in drawers. I don't have as much as her, so my blues and greens are in one drawer, then pinks and reds in another and so on. My drawers are too small to hold the ribbon too, so those are in a separate drawer of just ribbon stacked spool to spool.
I really like having all the colors in one drawer and it works for me.
Have fun arranging and organizing!

My craft room is officially a huge mess again. I am second guessing everything I have accomplished so far. I love the ribbon idea and WILL be doing that but I had to move drawers and cubes around to find a spot for them that not only looked good but worked for me. I am now completely confused about my paper storage of all shapes, sizes, colors and patterns. Can I change my thread to HELP ME IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY. I seem to have ribbon, stickers, SU punches and storage of my stamps all set. Second guessing my papers, embellishments, sizzix, cricut and much much more. :( I am REALLY wanting to have everything organized by Sept. 5th when school starts so I can start scrapbooking again. If I can't have it all done then at least have plans for everything and continue to work on completing it all.

I have several those 3 drawer units that I store wooden stamps and punches in. I stack the units 4 high in a column and am able to easily view the drawer contents. All drawers are labelled. Works great for me.

I'm in the process of organizing my clear stamps-- that's another story!!

I just stumbled upon a great idea....if its for 12x12...take out the drawers and store your paper trimmer, score boards and other flat tools.

I currently use the drawers to seperate my themes into one drawyer for beach, pets , january, travel etc... I put the specific paper theme in there along with the stickers or embellishments that go with that theme that way when i am ready to scrap using one of those themes I just pull out my drawer..

I use these for everything! I store all my stamps in them - wood and clear! They are sorted by category/theme. I have my ribbons sorted by color. My embellishments are stored by theme as well.

My punches and Nesties are in yet another stack of drawers. All of my office supplies are in those drawers.

AND I even use them to store my Mary Kay Products in them so they are easy to locate fo my customers!

May I jump in? I found a 12 x 12 cart with at least 6 drawers that I bought at Office Max a few years ago. I one I have my patterned paper which I have by color and in the other I have themes such as Christmas, winter in one, family in another and so on. I love these. I took my card stock out and have it stored another place. As for ribbon, I divided those by color and put them in ziplock bags. The spools I have in a shoebox where it is easily visible.
Works for me. Of course I have way too much stuff. Need a bigger craft room. zipper28
