I've lived in Columbia, SC for all but 5 years of my life---55 years! Like my daddy once said... "How much better can you have it? You are only an hour and 1/2 from the Atlantic ocean and an hour and 1/2 from the Blue Ridge Mountains!" The winters are mild--rarely, if ever wear a heavy coat--often pray for "snow"--may come 1-2 days, then gone; but the summers are humid and hot...mostly in the 80's but can hit the 90's. You can really grab that Vitamin D--Sunshine! All-in-all the weather is great! One of the best botanical gardens and zoo in the U.S., the capitol of S.C., University of S. C. "Gamecocks" and Ft. Jackson. We are proud of our "vista" near the capitol and river, an artsy stroll down Gervais St. Columbia is a true mix of American culture. It is truly "home". People are great and hospitable! It's a great place to raise a family!
