Yes very interested. There is a group of 6-8 ladies that I am friends with that like to travel to shoeboxes. Depending when it is would depend if I could do it.
A Shoebox is where a group of ladies get together and stamp and create cards and other items. Some are just get togethers and some have contests to see who makes the best of cards, ABAC, Recipe cards, and other categories. If you look under wi shoebox in forum it will give you an idea of what one is.
At the Shoebox in Jefferson yesterday, the date for the Hartford, WI Shoebox was set as August 9, 2014. This one is always held at the First National Bank of Hartford and soon a Splitcoast Thread will be started for it - watch for Hartford, WI Shoebox!
Is anyone interested in setting up one is IL? I'm in Niles.
To me, there are only two things that make a Shoebox difficult to set up - #1 is the location, it's tough to pay for a space to have it when you don't have a clue how many people will sign up. This obviously has a big effect on the price and budget for food and door prizes. I know several of us from WI don't hesitate to drive 2 hours or more to a Shoebox so Niles isn't what I'd see as an obstacle but #2 would be the date that several people are known to be able to attend. If you have these first people commit to attend, it's a lot easier to build the event knowing that it will for sure take place and can only grow as more and more sign up. So - Retina, if you can get a location without a fee and know that it's a date that some of us can make, I'd be happy to help with the planning. Most of us in WI are using the same Word docs and it's pretty much just a matter of a few minor changes to make it your event. We know what works so there's no need to re-invent it (unless you're wanting to, which is fine)!
If you have scrapbook/stamping stores nearby, that's an added bonus for a location that these ladies would want to drive to!
If you want to reach me other than SCS, I'm on Facebook and my email address is simply [email protected].
The Hartford, Wisconsin Shoebox has a thread here on SCS - - registration is still open for another week or two. Hartford is only about 20 minutes north of the Zoo Interchange in Milwaukee. It's not just a Shoebox - there are several optional swaps that you can join, too. Come, join us for a day filled with fun!
