I don't believe there will be any further information about Chicago until April or May of 2010. They are still busy with getting ready for Anaheim next month.

sorry for the Hijack - I was thrilled to hear Summer CHA is coming back to Chicago - love it when its virtually in my back yard!
The Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) is pleased to announce it's 2010 Summer Convention & Trade Show and Craft SuperShow will return to the Donald E. Stephens Convention and Conference Center in Rosemont, Illinois after one season in Orlando, Florida. The annual CHA Summer Trade Show will be held Tuesday, July 27 through Thursday, July 29, followed by the CHA Craft SuperShow consumer event Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31, 2010.
Wow, I'm sure my husband wouldn't mind if I took a slight detour on my way home from convention this summer...let's see now, SLC July 20 thru 25 and then flight into Chicago and rest up for a day or so before hitting CHA. My sister lives in Aurora so I'm sure she would let me stay there! Maybe I should just drive up to her place, fly outta there to SLC and then return there and drive back...that way I'd have my car and wouldn't have to figure out transportation to the convention center....that would work! lol! Yea right, I'm just sure that would fly. :twisted: Jan
about how much was it last year to attend?? Anyone know? I'm putting it on my calendar now and requesting the 30th off.

Just a little silly question: The summer CHA in Chicago is open to the public, right? The way everyone is so excited, I'm assuming yes, but I want to make sure before I begin making plans and getting myself all geared up for it...
I am so excited as this year my DD, is coming over from PA to attend with me, I have been attending the trade show since 1986, back in the days when there were two different groups - my first show was in Dallas and I was so excited! I have attended several since, but since DD got married she hasn't been able to attend with our business, but this year she can - it will be so much more fun! I missed Anaheim this year, 2 shows were just not in the budget with the economy the way it is.

Since you have been a "couple" shows, how do you like them? I have never been to one and this will be my first.

I have a few questions for those of you who are well versed in CHA! First off would I go to both the CHA trade show and the super show? As a demo I am able to get in to the trade show correct? Will there be different things at the trade show that are not at the super show? Can I bring a guest with me? And last how much does it cost so I can start saving?

since you are a demo- you could go to the trade show as an educator/designer, but it's meant for people who are "buying/placing orders" with the manufacturers. Some educators/designers go to check out new product, but they are usually using the product as well.
I have no clue what the cost is an educator- I am sure it's on the website somewhere! I think that your guest will have to purchase their own badge to get in also-
And yes, the stuff at the trade show is different from the super show which is geared towards regular consumers, not wholesalers. The super show will have product available for purchase in retail quantities (not the new trade show stuff though) and the trade show is orders for new releases of product lines in a wholesale manner, some of which don't ship for several months.
At the trade show you actually do not buy anything, well at least to take home, it is designed for retailers, professional crafters, educators, etc to place orders that come to you anywhere from a week to months later. It is a way for those people (like me) to get a chance to see and purchase things to sell to the general public. I pay a fee for my company in dues yearly (based on a formula of sales) and I get in the show for free and so do my partners - not sure how much it is for a guest as I have never brought one - sure it will be on the CHA website in a few months once Anahiem is in the past a little. Classes are an extra fee, but well worth attending - these are particularly good for people like me who teach a lot of workshops. Plus I have gotten to meet looks of people through the years - met Tim Holtz before anyone had heard of him. LOL I will be honest I do not know much about the super show - I got an invitation to sell at it in Orlando - but that is not typically what my business does, so did not participate and I did not attend Orlando, so I am not sure how it worked. I did hear that certain booths were swamped and had lots of people at them and others not so much. It must have gone alright or they would not be offering it again this year. I would like to caution people on this site that CHA is not just papercrafts, it is all types of crafts: knitting, woodworking, sewing, soapmaking, etc. It has a large amount of papercrafts but there are other crafts represented, so don't be shocked by the giant nutcracker from Zims or the big knitting needles (they had Vanna White a few yrs ago at their booth)
I'd love to attend CHA in Chicago, but I have a nursing baby. I would have to bring her with me. Is that ok or frowned upon? Hopefully someone can help me with that. Thanks ladies.

I don't think it's ever frowned upon- I saw lots of women with babies.
