Okay, sometime earlier this year, Papertrey Ink went through some sort of major change. I now see other names (Ink-to-Paper and the The Greetery e.g.).
I guess I was out living life (not sorry) and missed the important information, but what happened? PTI is no longer? Changed names? Moved another direction by some of its players? If there's a new company, is it pretty much the same products under a different name?
I don't know what happened, but I think the dust has had time to settle, so would someone please give me the 411, an overview? TIA!
The way that I understand it, Ink-to-Paper is the new name of the direct-to-consumer sales. Papertrey Ink will be wholesale sales to stores.
One of Papertrey's main designers, Betsy Veldman, now has her own business, and that is The Greetery. As far as I know it is unaffiliated with PTI/Ink-to-Paper.
Uh, oh. I have always loved Betsy's work. Now I have browsed her site. I think that there's some NEEDs there and I NEED to start a wish list.
I'm obsessed with The Greetery. Every item is a NEED for me. And Betsy is engaging consumers on the blog and youtube, giving lessons on how she does things. She was my favorite designer at PTI and when it was announced they had parted ways I was devastated, lol.
Regarding what's going on with PTI.....from the information I know, I think its anyone's guess. As I understand it, for some reason they decided to make PTI a wholesale company and created Ink To Paper to continue selling retail to customers online. They initially did "pop-up shops" in local (to them) craft stores with some PTI products. But now......both PTI and Ink To Paper are being sold retail and wholesale so, again, it seems to be anyone's guess what the rationale of the two separate businesses was/is.
Thanks for the clarification on The Greetery (cute name). But, it sounds like I'm a little right to be confused regarding PTI and I-to-P. My wish list is still active @ PTI, and the prices seem steady (they were crazy low for awhile). Yet, I haven't seen a release from them in a long time (may have missed that too).
Ink to Paper is where the new releases are. If you go to their website (you can get there from the PTI website) you will see all of their new stuff and the current blog. I've ordered a few sets from them since the change and the quality is just as good as other stamp companies and far better than some that are out there. I've also purchased from The Greetery and those stamps are also of a high quality and are also a refreshing change from that same-ole-same-ole.

I'm on the email list for Ink To Paper and their November CreateAthon on the blog has included a Fun Fact each day referencing PaperTrey's history.
I'm now seeing Papertrey's website active and Ink to Paper's website active. I hope ITP changes so their cardstock is not so difficult to search. I LOVE their cardstock and it's very reasonably priced.
PTI is going to wholesale only so their "springboard" company - Ink To Paper - is continuing with the PTI papers and is creating their own line of stamps and dies that are still high quality as PTI always was. If you sign up for their newsletters, that is helpful to keep up with information. As for Betsy Veldman going off on her own with The Greetery...beware of an addiction to fabulous new products! She has wowed me with so many great stamps and dies that are breaking my bank account - lol!

PTI is still selling direct. I just got an order. They are doing this neverending sale. Unfortunately the couple things I really want are discontinued.
I used to buy a lot of PTI but now fins I am more interested in art journaling. If you tell me what you were looking for we might be able to strike a deal😀
