Default Help me decide on colors/style for cookbook album....

Good grief..this thing has been a project in the making for at least a couple of yrs now..

Initially, I chose fall-colors, because, to me, Fall means-baking.. getting in the kitchen and cooking more, etc...

But then I started leaning towards colors and things that reminded me of mom and her kitchen growing up..and of course, there are plenty of things that fit that bill, as well..(retro 70's, drab colors, basic kitchen items now..etc..)

Last Fall, I decided to finally get going on this project, and "invested" in a rather LARGE order of Basic Grey's Pyrus line, and oodles of coordinating casrdstock, ribbon, and embellies..

But then my mom got sick.

And the project got put aside again..

So, now, I am *kinda* leaning towards the more mom-colors, but, when I look at all the recipes I will be putting in this book, not a one is from mom...Not that she was a bad cook, but she was just one of those who never measured, and, as an adult, my taste preferences have changed and things I like to cook, she never cooked..she was more a meat-and-potatoes type, mainly because of dad..and, to me, the 'mom' colors might look weird with what is kind of more 'modern' recipes.. kwim...?

But, oddly, now that I have gone back to looking at the Basic Grey Pyrus colors, I am kind of thinking..what was I thinking..? lol...I love Basic Grey, just not sure I want all my recipe cards made with Pyrus..The colors now to me seem kind of depressing..not the warm-fall colors I love.

The one thing I know for-sure is, I want the entire book to have all the same colors/theme/line, so it has a nice 'flow' to it....

'My' style is more browns, tans, creams..But here sits all of this BG paper...:-|

So, I guess, my question is, my choices are:
1) Stick with BG even tho in a few yrs I might hate it..
2) Go with 'my' style of colors..a small investment to add to things I already have..
3) Go with 'mom' colors...I have a good bit in preparation, anyway, so would only need a few other items...
4) Go with a generic 'kitchen' theme; more modern, happy colors..altho would be a rather large investment again, it might be more cheerful..
5) Altho it will not have a true 'flow', mix in the Basic Grey Pyrus line with some random fall-colored papers..altho it might drive my OCD nature beserk...lol :p
6) Chuck the Basic Grey and others, and just use all Fall-colored cardtock colors and brads and embellies (I am kind of leaning toward this one..)

Ideas...?

Well the first thing I thought of is..are you making this just for you or other family members as well.? That would help me make my choice..something that is compatible for most people..ALSO..are you going to keep this book on display in your kitchen? If so..then I would try to coordinate it with my own kitchen..( maybe a more neutral palate if you change you "themes" or colors often)..Does that make sense?
Stampin! UP has some really pretty rich colors in their regal line I think it is..and they have some kitchen stamps as well. That might be how I started..or even do an 'index" card type of book that you laminate the cards so as to protect them ( ok..maybe it is just me, but nothing is safe in the kitchen from water when I am in there LOL)

Inkin one, those are all EXCELLENT points to consider...I must have subconsciously already considered them, because I did not take any of that into consideration..Nobody cooks in my family, so, yes, it would be "mine"..and I am prolly not gonna store it in kitchen in view, probably in a cupboard..or possibly in a book case..Altho, the kitchen idea might be cool...we are going to be re-doing the kitchen in yellows and whites, and that might make for a pretty album...but, like you say, when it comes time to re-do the kitchen again... lol..

I am working on some recipe books and cards right now for my daughters and myself. I would suggest you pick something you love. You will probably not get tired of something you love, as easily as something that has a certain theme, that you don't love.

Good luck with your project!
