Would you buy a set for just ONE stamp?
I know it sounds absurd but I really like the "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" from the Festive & Fun set in the Holiday Mini but I know I would never use the other 2 stamps (a halloween and a valentine's day)
The set runs $14.95 (if you get the clear). So I'm wondering....have you ever bought a whole set for only one or two stamps???

I just did! Sad, huh? I try to check Ebay first as there are almost always single stamps from sets that people are selling. I will wait as long as I can but if I think it is hopeless, I will break down and get the set. Never know when you might use it. Look in the galleries and maybe you will see something made with the other stamps that are in the set and change your mind

Most of the time, it's only one stamp in a set that I really want ... and because I'm new to this hobby and money is limited, I "just say no" to spending. (ie: Grunge Rock; You are Loved)
But if the one stamp I really want is in a set with others that I know I'd use (even if it doesn't cause my heart to skip a beat) I will give it a little more consideration. (ie: Loads of Love; Perfectly Penned)

I did too, it was the Merry Christmas out of one of those word sets I just had to have. You know what, I don't even know where that set is at the moment.
I also did not buy one of the ship sets SU had out a few years back and I am still sorry I did not buy it!!
It is much easier to re sell a set you don't want then try to find a very popular set that retired.

It depends on 1)how much the set is, 2)how badly I want that one stamp and 3)will I use the other stamps in the set or not.
I have bought a set with stuff I only liked to get a stamp I loved. But it was a set of 4 that was only $18 - I loved one, knew I would use 2 others, and figured the 4th would never see the light of day.
I have also split a set with someone. I wanted one particular sentiment from a set of 6. There were two others I might use, and three I knew I'd never use. I found another customer of my demo who wanted 2 of the ones I had no use for - so we each paid half & took three stamps. I've never regretted that purchase and that one stamp I really, really wanted has seen a great deal of use.

Yes, I would, and I have. But only if I really love that one stamp.
Regarding Festive & Fun, if you have some beliefs that result in your not celebrating Valentine's Day and Halloween, then if you're a non-demo, you can always offer those 2 for sale either here on BST, or on eBay. But I have to say, I love that whole set and plan to use all of the images a lot! Here's a Halloween card I made using that set and Greeting Card Kids. The "Holly Jolly" image makes a very cute, quick Christmas card!

In that case I would look to see if its available in digi format. It would be a lot cheaper and then I could justify the cost of the stamp.

It's hard to resist but I must not buy sets for one stamp. In the summer mini last year there was a set of three for $15, of which I really needed one stamp and did not like the other two at all. Resisted and glad I did. I have developed good "talking myself out of buying" skills in the past few years.

Yes, I have. Is it a good idea? Probably not, but I have done and most likely will do it again. A true need is a real need. That's my philosophy

Not any more. I did in the past but never again. Now I'd try to find something similar by another company.

No, I just can't do it. I guess I'm too practical. I have enough sets that I love that don't get used!

I have bought a few sets because there was one stamp in them I had to have...It's not what I like to do, but if I really want that stamp and know I will use it, I will buy the set...After all, it's about what I like - right?

If I love the stamp and think I can get my money's worth out of it, I will buy the set. I find that with most sets, I usually use one or two of the stamps a lot more than the others (and often there are stamps in the set that I never use), so it wouldn't bother me to buy a set just for one stamp that I really want. You can always sell the others or give them away to a new stamper who needs help building a stamp collection!

I have done this, but I have also traded with other stampers before - one set I wanted just one stamp from and posted in the trade forum - someone replied back she'd be happy to part with it and sent me a wishlist, I found something I had that she wanted and... win-win. Maybe give this a try first? You never know...

If I just *had* to have it, and there was no other image that really did what this one did, I probably would. LOL! I'd figure out later what to do with the remaining images I didn't care for.

A yes from me, too if I feel that the price isn't outrageous for the amount of use I'd get from it. I bought Happy Camper for the bear, although admittedly I got it with *silly money* from something or other, rather than from my regular craft budget. You might surprise yourself and find that you used the other stamps too - although in that case I know that I personally would never use either Halloween or Valentine's.

I bought "From the Crypt" just because the one stamp inspired an idea for a card that wouldn't go away. After a year of festering, I finally broke down and got the set so I could make THIS CARD. Will I use it ever again? Will I use the rest of the set? Dunno, but at least I don't have that splinter in my head anymore =)

Not so much now, but when I first started I bought whatever with out really thinking about how to use it. Now I have loads of stamps that I can't/don't use, ( a lot of solid images and I am definitely a coloring kinda chic..) so now I really must know exactly what I can /can not do with one before I buy it. That said, I probably would buy it if I KNEW I could crank out some stuff with one stamp.
