Question Word by Word/Print Pattern???

Okay when the catalog first came out it seemed that everyone was so excited for Word by Word background.... So to those of you who have gotten it, do you use it a lot? Is it as great as you thought? I am starting to think about my next stamp club order and at first I thought I would for sure get this stamp but I also really like Print Pattern as well. Any recommendations? Thanks everyone for your opinions

I am loving my print pattern BG stamp! I don't have word by word. I have seen some wonderful samples of each.

I have WbyW and haven't mounted it yet because I still haven't decided if I want to cut it up like some have.

The other day I discovered that some of the words fit inside a slide mount like JOY. I played with that a little but haven't come up with a card yet.

I'd recommend leaving it a full BG stamp and then either using a marker or masking if you just want one word. If you cut it up, you'll never have the full BG stamp, but if you leave it, you can always single out a word or two. JMHO.

That's what I'm leaning toward. It would take a brave soul and very good scissors to cut between those words!

LOL, ditto! I think if I really want to separate the words that badly I'd just buy another stamp--$16.95 for all those words isn't that bad!

I cut mine up this week. I love having all those words at my fingertips and it wasn't hard to cut apart at all. I used my kai scissors. I cut the frame away from the word laugh and am debating over going back in and removing frames from some of the others. I had lots of su wood blocks to use since my mom uses acrylic/cling mounting system. I did use the scroll saw to trim down wood blocks to the right size. I also purchased pattern print at the same time. I love it. Tough choice... one this month and one next month right???

Default Word / Print Pattern

Onita,

I have both and LOVE them equally. If you are a scrapbooker, Word by Word looks wonderful, cut up as individual words on scrapbook pages. But Print Pattern is a great background on cards AND scrapbook pages. If you can, get both!

I do plan on getting both at some point, I just don't know which one to order first! The stamp club that I am in orders every other month so we will be ordering in October, then I have to wait until December (seems soooo far away ;) ) for the next order. Maybe I'll try to squeeze some more money out of our budget and get them both on the next order, but there are some accessories that I really want too. Speaking of accessories, anyone have an opinion on the clear buttons?

As for the BG stamps- have them both, use print pattern more. Get that one now, and the wbw later. I also have clear buttons, I actually love them, they have a big square one, which is my favorite one. They are really cute over a embossed image.

I have both backgrounds and Print Pattern has become one I reach for almost constantly. It can be either subtle or bold. I like Word By Word, too, but for versatility Print Pattern is one of my new favorites. I love the clear buttons, too.

Print Pattern is fantastic. I knew as soon as I saw it that I would buy it. I use it almost exclusively with versamark and it looks great on every color. I have seen a few cards with Word by Word (not cut up) and it very much dominates the card, while Print Pattern can be very subtle.

I don't have either, just an extremely long wish list but I say print pattern first. I'm saying that because I'm seeing it used SOOOOOO much around here. It's a good basic background stamp that you can use with almost any style of stamp.

I just recently got Print Pattern and I love it. I have found it to be one of the easiest of the background stamps to use. It works with every stamp set I've used with it. My most recent use is with Renaissance Angel for my Christmas cards. It is wonderful.

I have both BG stamps and seem to use Print Pattern far more than Word by Word, but to be honest I haven't had a lot of time to sit down and stamp since I got them.

My demo used Print Pattern at our last meeting and I loved it, so ordered it. Can't wait to get it. I also have seen so many pretty cards using it here on SCS! I don't have the other one, and it wasn't put on my wish list. I am not sure it will be soon, as we also used cheesecloth (for a Halloween card) and I like Houndstooth, too for a guy's card. We were discussing that the cheesecloth could also be used for a net look in cards with the fish or other sea themed stamps, not just as "spooky" I think I would order these two before the word one. I have really liked Word By Word - and after studying the layout, I decided not to cut it up, but instead use masking or selective inking to leave "blanks".

I also stamped it on white paper and cut out different blocks as a tool to see what image "fit" within the different areas. This is really fun - and I'll bet it works well to customize the card to the occasion.

For example, see how "Nature's Beauty" fits in!

Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

And of course you can stamp the entire background and simply cut out selected words, or simply "thump" on the selected words to isolate individual words.

Fun stamp.

I like your card, that set works well with the background and love the colors you used. I'm pretty sure I won't be cutting mine apart.
