White Paper?

For years I have used basic GP white cardstock for cards. Now I see beautiful white monochromatic white cards that obviously have gone beyond "basic". What is your favorite white cardstock and why. Links to one of your favorite cards using said paper would also be great. TIA.

I like stampers select white by papertrey ink. Its thick and smooth. I use it almost exclusively. I am Derby: Year of the Flowers Minis Set Some pretty flowers on stampers select white.

My favorite white happens to be Neenah Classic Crest Cover in Solar White. I get the 110 pound and the 80 pound and use the heavier for card bases and the lighter for layering. Since I buy both by the BIG package of 250 sheets each, I get it for just over 10 cents a sheet. I think price is a definite factor for me. I buy it from my local paper outlet.

I love Paper Temptress Cryogen White... I only discovered it when I joined her design team, but it's fabulous...has a slight shimmery sparkle to it and it colors like a DREAM with Copics

I have some of PaperTrey, Gina K, SU, and Neenah...I love them all and I love the heavy weight white from TAC...

Another vote here for PTI and Gina K.

Gina K paper is a bit smoother, so better for using prisma colors, blending stumps and gamsol. Whereas PTI has more "tooth", so I like it better for Copics and water coloring.

Both are sturdy and amazing!!

Thanks for all the suggestions. No one has mentioned SU's whisper white. Comments? I use rubber stamps and ink. Someday I'm going to sharpen all those prisma pencils I bought a few years ago and try them out!

I use Cougar White #80 from Marco's Paper -- The Best Source for Paper, Envelopes, Cardstock & Accessories Since 1971
I also use the Cougar Natural. Great paper and great company.

I love Papertrey's white. It is thick and has a tiny roughness to it. I love Gina K's Pure Luxury white too. It is smooth, like SU!'s Whisper White, but much thicker. I use Gina K's especially when I want to make one layer cards with Copics. Gina K's white paper doesn't bleed through with Copics. I also love Strathmore's 140 lb watercolour paper. I use this when I want to make one layer cards with watercolours. I have heard great things about Copic's Xpress It (?) but have not tried it yet. I have tried SU!'s Whisper White, but it is too thin for me. I like Neenah's paper, but only use that when I need to print something like a sentiment or a digi. It is the only pretty cardstock I have that is thin enough to fit through my crappy printer.

I like the SU white for stamping on and layering, but if you are going for an all white card you'll need something sturdier for the base.

A Muse Studio Sugar is my go-to white. It is smooth and great to use with Copics, pencils and all inks.

I use SU! Whisper White for all my stamping and layering. It's so nice and smooth and white! For card bases, I use Gina K's Pure Luxury White. It's nice and thick and matches SU! WW paper nicely.

I have recently tried Copic X-Press It for my Copic coloring. It's nice for that. But I still use SU! WW paper for Copic coloring too. It bleeds through, but that's okay because I always layer it on a colored piece of cardstock after coloring. So, nobody sees the bleed! LOL.

I've used SU but smears when trying to use certain markers.
I use GP all the time, have tried PTI and its good, only for the amount of cards I make sometimes I prefer spending on GP kind, that way I dont feel I'm investing to much

I use 3 kinds but am in the market for a 4th. crazy.

PTI -- love the thickness for embossing
Gina K -- only use for one layer Copic coloring.
A Muse Studio -- so easy to hand cut or die cut intricate shapes and the ink dries super fast on this cardstock.

I need to purchase some white 60 to 80lb paper. Want to go to my local staples. I need it for the inside of the invitations to baby shower, so I don't want to waste my neenahor papertrey ink white. Can anyone suggest brand? There will be no stamping on this pg. Thnks in advance!

Hi, Rosetta -- Hammermill Color Copy Cover would be a suggestion. It's a nice quality and reasonably priced. The 60# is lightweight but would be fine for a layer inside the invitation. Staples offers free delivery to the store nearest you.

If you have an Xpedx store close by, they stock all three cover weights of HCCC cardstock. They usually have free sample sheets for you to try before you buy. Here are some reviews of this paper:

I love the smoothness of SU WW, but it is too thin as a stand-alone card IMHO.
I was told to try PYI, which I did, but I think it is way too heavy, especially if you use layers. I don't use either for my cards now, but instead use Staples white card stock. You must be careful, though as they sell cover stock as well, and that's too thin. The card stock is somewhere in between SU and PTI and is really white and great for stamping, coloring, layering. Not too bad a price either.

I'd try the GP white from Sam's Club I think it is 110# and $7 for 250 sheets. It is good for card bases and printing digipaper. Staples also make a good sturdy 110# cardstock for card bases,

For copic coloring I like Papertrey Ink and Neenah.

Ginka K is nice too but the colors do not look as vibrant when coloring with copics/promarkers.

I did a cardstock reivew artilce in the October and December 2010 artilce of Scrap & stamp Arts, one was about cardstock for alcohol ink markers and the other was cardstock for diecutting so I feel like I have tried most brands LOL!

If you visit a local print shop you can purchase a few sheets of many kinds to try. Kromekote is a great glossy cardstock that does not bleed through too and it is way cheaper at local print shops than the glossy in the SU catty and works just as well. I discovered that on a trip to the printers!

Whisper White is great for general stamping; however, does not work for using Copics. I love Neenah or Gina K Luxury for using Copics.

I have several that I use for different things.

PTI is good for general purpose use. All around great paper, but soaks up a lot of Copic ink.
Gina K is so smooth and pretty - it's great for solid image stamping!
XPress Blending card is great for Copic coloring
Neenah Solar White has to be my favorite!! It's so nice for everything!! A great great cardstock - and I use the 110 lb weight (I get mine from The Cat's Pajamas) so it makes a great card base!!

YES! I found this card stock by accident when at a paper supply looking for heavy weight for bases. It says 110 lb but is much much heavier than GP 110 lb. LOVE IT for bases!

I'm curious about "PTI soaks up a lot of Copic ink."

What does that mean? Has someone figured out that the paper really does use more ink than another brand? If so, what brand works well AND doesn't soak up the ink?

I use SU card stock pretty much exclusively, BUT I like Gina K's Pure Luxury for my card bases. The color matches SU Whisper White exactly. I tried PTI, but the color was too bright white for my taste (if that makes any sense) and was a lousy match for SU Whisper White. I used to use SU WW for my card bases and I was happy with it, until I discovered Gina K's paper. It's divine.

It seems pricey to me, too. So do most of the other ones mentioned. Here are the prices for a couple:

I am not being critical of other's personal choices. I am sure these are very lovely papers, but I just cannot bear to pay that much. I buy a pack of white cardstock at Sam's Club that is 110 lb weight, smooth and I think quite nice.

ok i am confused. I bought wausau 110 lb cardstock. it holds up to the versafine colored inkpad fantastic and doesn't smear but my tombow markers don't work on it and my watercolor pencils the water saturates it too much and the blender pens don't pick up any color to move around. I have 140 lb carson cold press but it isn't a white color. I paid full price for the wausau -14.00 for 250 pc but if i can't color with it, now what?
kind of expensive for just card bases. I only use the watercolor pens and markers.
