Default What is your achille's heel?

We all know the joke about chocolate, shoes, purses and jewelry being a weakness....

What is your stamping weakness? No doubt this has been asked before but it keeps changing with new releases...

Product-ie Ink? A particular stamp company? A whole topic (ie snowmen)? Paper? Tools? Just whatever is new? Organizing? A technique-ie Watercoloring so every new product or paper for it....

What cant you resist?

AUTUMN! Leaf dies, more leaf dies, leaf stamps, fall-colored papers. Granted, the season is longer than Christmas, but it's still limited.

Patterned paper, for me. I have the hardest time not buying new paper - my resistance all but crumbles if I take a look at what paper pads are out there. Good news is that I do use all them all. But probably not quite at the same rate as I get new ones...

Then there's minor obsessions when I try a new technique or card style and love it. I made a card that used some great phrase stickers I got in a card kit, so I immediately rushed to buy 5 more phrase stickers from various companies. Ditto with enamel dots, sequins, watercolor, etc etc. I finally had to firmly shut the door on techniques that require me to buy any new supplies. If I can't do it with what I've got, then I'm just going to admire it from afar.

I also worry too much I'll run out of something essential at the wrong moment. So, I probably spend more than I should on those basic staple things like adhesive refills, white/kraft cardstock, replacement blades, ink refills and so on. I'm sure I could go a few months (or maybe even a year!) without needing to buy another glue refill or a cardstock pack. But they still find their way into my cart constantly...

On the other hand, I have seen some positive things, too!

I started getting better organized with supplies and that's helped curb those "complete" tendencies. For example, doing swatches with inks made me realize that I had a lot of inks that were extremely similar and I didn't need 4 same pinks from 4 different manufacturers. Ditto with stamps - if I liked a fairy stamp from one company, I didn't need another 3 sets from a different designer (especially when they're the same style). Now when I see a stamp I want, I first ask myself if I have something that could work instead - and a lot of the time the answer is yes. Then I take it out of the cart.

I've also stopped shopping when a sale's going on. I found out rather quickly that I'd get swept in and just buy things because they were cheap instead of because I actually needed them. If there's a special coupon when I'm ready to order something, awesome. Otherwise, I just go on with the order anyway.

Floral stamps. And I have had "You Are Enough" by Concord & 9th in my basket for so long, telling myself I didn't really need it, that the set sold out twice. It was re-stocked Wednesday; I hit the checkout button.

So would I ...... LOL.

Right now my art supplies are spread out among 4 different rooms with no rhyme or reason so it is a real challenge when I am trying to find something.

I am SO looking forward to this winter because I have decided to take that chunk of time to set up my studio and get everything organized so that I will be spending my time creating instead of looking for stuff........I know that others have worked through this same dilemma and reaped the rewards.

Queen of Inkland, I'm with you! lol. At the last count- fairly recently as I've been trying to get my One Note catalogue accurate, I had 384 inkpads of various types/brands and sizes.
I have reinkers for all the DI's, all the Adirondacks, all my Archivals- oops, forgot, I have a few more of those on the way, rofl-, my Encore Pigment pads, and a few others. Re-inkers not so readily available over here for anything other than DI. Even Adirondacks are becoming rare, as they've been discontinued. At least I've been able to get some-like Versafine ones- from the US via Amazon.
My wall of shame :oops::oops:

The clear container contains Dew Drop pads, the basket has Cats Eyes in. Bottom shelf is a slowly growing collection of mediums to try out some mixed media.
Dini, I think I too may have Full Set Syndrome,

Realistic or funny animal stamps that are wood mount. And super snarky sentiments, puns or funny to me sentiments. Basically a combination between From the herd and the Wildlife preserve set. I need to go make a Herd card!

Shaz, that ink collection looks a lot like mine! I have Distress, Color Box chalk, Memento, Brilliance, Adirondack, A Muse, Stamping Up dye and pigment, Stazon, Versafine - YIKES! I have a real problem : (
Running a close second are coloring mediums including many forms of water coloring medium.
I think this must mean that I'm addicted to color!

I would have to say Cheap Joe's & Blick's. I love anything related to color. I can drool over the aforementioned catalogs for hours. I always have at least 30 stickers marking pages in them. And, I do love paper.

Pineapples and Tropical stamps. I love them all-Palm Tree, Tiki, Flamingo, Fish, etc.
I even made a Christmas card with a "tropical" theme:

Abstract leaf stamps and dies.

Stamps used in videos by favorite people - though I'm getting better about using stamps I have.

Containers/organizing solutions that cause me to abandon other solutions.

Things I haven't heard of. "I don't know what that is. I need it, right?!"

I also have 'full-set-syndrome' - which is why I haven't gone down the Copic route seeing as I have multiple full-sets of other mediums eg: pencils. Copics are $10 each here in Australia!

I find it super-hard to resist buying alien, snowmen and dinosaur stamps - they just speak to me & want me to give them a home, ha ha I am really wanting Lawn Fawn to come out with Alien stamps 'cos I know they would be as cute as can be!

And Christmas papers - I just want to hug them all! I have enough but oh, I love them because they make me happy looking at them. Am I a little nutty??

Dorie-this is the HM website-you can buy direct:

The Official House-Mouse Designs Web Site || The "Micest" Web Site In The World

You can find the older ones on Ebay like from Stampa Rosa as well as current from Stampendous...but this is a line that does that has "PSX syndrome" and can get stupid expensive in wood. But if you are ok with used...they come up reasonable sometimes if you are patient.

I wish I had as much fun as those mice do!

We didn't need to go there, did we? But since you brought it up, you guys who are in need of DSP and cardstock really should be in my neck of the woods the weekend after Labor Day. I'm talking a major sale - a moving sale. With paper, cardstock, envelopes, ribbon, buttons, beads, polymer clay, punches and STAMPS. I'm only keeping what I truly love, and I don't love that 3-foot stack of paper. Which reminds me: my stamps came today, You Are Enough by Concord & 9th, and I truly love that set. So to the person who asked how many florals you really need? All of them... plus one.

I've been trying to think of my answer to this question, and all that keeps coming to mind is *everything*, LOL. But I suppose if I had to choose, it would be "cute animal stamps" - pretty much anything by Lawn Fawn, or Paper Smooches, or any of the little critters that Kristina Werner designs. And thin dies. I want ALL of the thin dies.

You folks do realize that you will now be getting PMs from people wanting to sell you something? Lol

My passions are Fall stamps and colors, then trees and snowflakes!

I must admit, there are a few pads in amongst mine that I look at and think' what the heck was I thinking of'? Got caught up in the hype, I'm a tad savvier now. The culprits? Staz-on opaque pastels for starters. I bought the white- it's horrible, totally vile- the pink, blue & buttercream. I loathe those inkpads with a passion, I can tell you. And those stupid Versamark Dazzle pads. Just why? I use them like regular Versamark for now till they dry out & get consigned to the bin.

Jennifer-from an old wishlist hand...let me make a suggestion to you. Dont have wishlists all over the net. Too many people carry the same products btwn the mfgs and the gen distributors. It's a good way to get confused and duplicate and waste money.

Make yourself an excel file by company....hear me know und believe me later...it really makes a difference. Plus it's very searchable if say Joann's puts just one brand on sale.

Dont start the regrets Shaz!! LOL We'll be here all day! I'll start a new thread!
Regrets, I've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention....Frank Sinatra, My Way
