Default what is the most you have paid for a single stamp/set

What is the most you have paid or are willing to pay for a single stamp? I am a ctmh demo and I'm used to getting pretty good sized sets for $22 or less.

There is a stamp set i'm considering that I just love...but it is $67.. OUCH

It does have 6 images and 8 sayings. They are mounted on cling foam.

The most I like to pay is $12 for a single stamp and that hurts... Maybe its cause i'm used to getting so many in our sets?

Just wondering if anyone else had this issue and what your limit is on a single stamp...

I guess if I broke the 6 images down it would be about that much each.

I think the most I've paid is $35. That was for Winter is Calling which I used for my Christmas cards this year. I took a set that was very used to get that price. Very used if fine with me.

About the set you are wanting - you can ask for stamped images on here and then offer them some of yours to compensate. I've done that and it works really well.

Probably the most I've spent on a stamp set was around $35.

I couldn't say that I wouldn't spend more on a much-coveted set, though.

Tops for me was, I think $32.95. I'm having a hard time justifying the cost of SU sets anymore because there's so much great stuff out there for cheaper. I'm like Julie, though. If it really knocked my socks off I might spring.

For me $24. I get all of my sheets online. I've been to Archivers, and they want about $30 for a full sheet. No way. No way for SU either. For one thing they are too expensive, and another, you have to find a rep and go thru all that hassle. Why bother. But I draw the line at $24, cause then you have to tack on the shipping.

Whoa, $67. That is a heap of money for stamps. You could get a lot of stamps mounted for that. You really want to pay $67? The most for one stamp is maybe less than $10 or a SU set around $25, but never over.

Buy it! After you use it, sell it and get some of your money back....then it won't be so expensive!

I think the most I paid for a new set was around $30. I spent around $25 for a used set.

There is no way I could bring myself to pay $67 for a set of stamps.

Purchasing stamps in a set is not really a bargain. When you think about it, how many people really use ALL the stamps in any one of the Stampin' Up sets? I've purchased many of those sets and only keep 1-2 out of each set, toss the rest in the trash along with the wood blocks. So after that, the stamps I really want from the set end up being very expensive. That's no bargain.

Purchasing individual stamps is better in my opinion, that way I only get what I want. I now have all the stamps I would ever need. Just use those over and over. Works for me.

there are certainly MANY choices of stamps - lots to choose from and for every personal choice - I much much prefer stamp sets, whether they are SU or other. I've had both and sets work for me so much better. Guess I need that bit of help coordinating! hehe

as to the op - we pay what we can afford and for the stamps we love, right?! very cute stamp set and so glad you found the price is reasonable for you after all! can't wait to see the beautiful cards you create with it for next year

Are you serious???? You throw away the extra stamps you don't use?? Why don't you give the extra stamps away or sell them?

I do use the stamps that come in a set. I may be more in love with some more than others but they all get used at some point or another as my tastes change.......

The most expensive set I bought was Define Your Life...around $49. However I have bought a few retired sets on Ebay for about $40. I also got a lot of 20 sets on Craigslist last spring for $200, and 6 of them sold for over $50-80 each...I was very tempted to keep one, but $50 in my pocket was more tempting, so I can't say that I would spend $50 on a set.

I use most of the stamps in a set...so if a set had 6 good stamps in it, it's not a stretch to pay $67...considering Penny Black and Whipper Snapper are about $10 or so per mounted stamp.

Wow. The set is cute, but for cling mounted $68.00 is a little too pricey.

I have probably paid between $35.00 and $40.00 for a set. Some of my alphabet sets were that high.

$67 for unmounted stamps? too expensive in MHO. especially if they are not very large image wise.

I think for me it was SU's set Wonderful Favorites. Isn't that $45 or something like that.

fortunately, she found out the stamps alone are $15 or so - the $67 was for a kit or something with them

it's nice, but that's pricey. I judge value both by how much I will really use a set or is it something special (maybe retired) that I need (that is a broad range:mrgreen: ). I have paid $40 for a discontinued set on the bay, but I'm still holding out for Wild Wild West because it routinely goes for $125+ I won't do that. I did find an acceptable substitute by searching the internet.

i paid $60 for the SU! set "elegant ice" (used). i figure skate and am also a huge fan, and every other skating-related stamps i see depict skating as a winter pastime and not the competitive sport. the first time i saw this stamp set i knew i had to have it. it was obvious that one stamp was of michelle kwan, one was of kristi yamaguchi, etc.

I paid $45 for the SU set "For the love of chocolate" unmounted. I haven't mounted it yet....I guess I'm afraid it will lose its value when I use it (silly, I know...stamps to me are tools, not collectibles).

The most I have spent on a set was one of the SU alphabet sets. The most I have spent on a single stamp is $15 for a HM

After I started selling TAC I had a harder time buying more expensive sets. I have only bought one set from SU since I became a TAC angel. I still spend a ton with SU just not the stamps.

The very first stamp I bought was a $4 Inkadinkado wood mounted stamp of a reindeer. Since it lured me into this insanity, I'd say that was the most expensive purchase I've made!

You're so right, Joan! Mine was a PSX leaf stamp I bought half-price at Hobby Lobby for a couple bucks.

I wouldn't do a think differently if I could go back....

lol...I can relate.

Years ago, when we were poor, young and newly married, dh was shopping with me at Michael's for something, and I stopped by the stamping aisle to hungrily look. Seeing the look on my face, he innocently said, "why don't you get one, honey?". I refused, knowing that "one" wouldn't do me a thing (I had NOTHING for stamping, lol), and that we truly couldn't afford that hobby yet.

Silly man.

Fast forward...I DID get into stamping eventually as our circumstances improved and let me assure you that over the next ten years or so I have more than made up for having to wait so long.

hee hee

So I would have to agree that "first" stamp was the most expensive!

Default how much do you spend?

I figure it like this....I allocate $1.00 for each item I am going to make...if a set is $67 would I make 67 items with this set? if the answer is yes then I do it, also I check ebay to see what the resale value is and if I could recoup at least half of what I paid for it.
I don't smoke, drink , gamble, go to movies, drink coffee etc....so I figure I can spend what I want if I really love it (within reason) but who's to say what "reason" is..I was acutally in a bidding war about a year or 2 ago for dreams and dragons and I bid up to 88.00...thank goodness I lost out..I got it 2 weeks later for $26.00

Now SU has online ordering so you can just use the demo finder to pick a demo and you can order online through their business website. If you order without picking a demo though, the prices are higher. Unmounted is always going to be cheaper than wood mounted.

And I don't care how great the stamps are I would never pay 67 for a set! The most I have paid is around $30 but I don't do that very often.

The most I've paid for a single stamp is around $14. It is a Stamps Happen stamp and worth every penny to me.

The most I paid was 32 dollars for a used set. It was Antique Auto by SU, one of those must haves for me with a car buff for a hubby. He's getting antique also. LOL
