I know that they used to carry one by Stampendous, but I've been using other things for so long that I haven't looked for it in ages. A lot of people make their own (including me). Here's a thread that discusses various formulas: Recipe for homemade stamp cleaner by Toomanystamps at Splitcoaststampers
I use the one that includes Simple Green and glycerin. I also use alcohol-free baby wipes (the cheap ones from Walmart).
I love the one called INKSSENTIALS by Ranger. It's bubble gum scented, and it works great!! Not sure if Michael's sells it, or Joanns. I found it at my local store. It's my fav.

I love the smell of the Ranger one too-Hobby Lobby definitely carries it. My favorite one though is Ultra Clean-cleans and conditions my stamps.
But to save money (I'd rather spend it on stamps!) I made my own cleaner mentioned in the link Gregzgurl posted; it's the glycerin and baby wash recipes. Works very well!
Many here have recommended Ultra Clean in the past, and I have used it for several years with great results. I usually buy it from Ellen Hutson's online store.
I got caught without any cleaner a few weeks ago, and I live pretty far from a craft store. So, I tried making my own with the glycerin and baby wash recipe I'd noticed several times here on Splitcoast. It was easy and inexpensive. The glycerin was $6ish at Wal-mart, and I can probably make 5-6 batches total with that size bottle. I mixed it up right in the water bottle.
2 Tablespoons glycerin (in the Rx dept.)
8 oz. distilled water
1 teaspoon baby wash
If I need something more heavy duty for StazOn, I've used Kiss Off stick (one stick from Hobby Lobby or Michael's has lasted me years!) and a toothbrush with running water.
I have the Ranger bubblegum scented one and I hate it. It didn't seem bad in the store, but once I got home and tried it it was pretty strong. Definitely one to use with consideration to those who may have fragrance sensitivities if you take it to crops.
I just use baby wipes. I use one and put it back until it's too dirty to keep going. I like that it's not a 'uni-tasker'. They are handy for all kinds of crafty messes. I also like that they condition the rubber.

You can water it down a little bit...Then you want get that Very so Strong smell.
Plus it will last longer. I use another spray bottle and fill it 1/2 with water and 1/2 with Cleaner.
Honestly, I just tried making my own with the 8 ounces of (spring, I didn't have distilled) water, 1 teaspoon of baby wash and 2 teaspoons of glycerin and I LOVE the results. I won't buy any more stamp cleaner. This method is SO cheap, and you make a ton. I just bought myself a little spray bottle at the dollar store to store it in. It works wonderfully.
Someone here on SCS suggested Suave coconut shampoo, and my bottle has lasted over 2 yrs. I pour some in a small spray bottle, and dilute. It smells great, conditions, and removes Stazon from my stamps. And it was only $1.19 at Wallyworld. Works great for me.

Interesting! Removes StazOn huh? No wonder it makes my hair feel like steal wool! LOL. :p

I don't remember where the post is located over here. I do remember this one lady posting she was washing her horse's manes with Suave shampoo. She then used the shampoo on her Staz-On inked stamps. They come out pristine.
I am going to try and add glycerin to some Suave shampoo and see how it does. I won't use Suave for my hair. I love it for cleaning. I use Suave conditioner as fabric softener. My clothes are so soft.
I remember reading one time that Tim Holtz said that Suave takes the dye right out of your hair. It's good for cleaning inks off your hands. I think it went something like that. I know one of Tim's followers knows the exact quote. I found a reference to it- Highlights from Tim Holtz Chat! |
