Wedding Shower Gift Ideas

Looking for quick and easy shower gift ideas for my niece's shower. Received the invitation in the mail today for NEXT Sunday the 29th! I had no idea she even set a date yet! I will probably make her a set of all occasion cards or some monogrammed cards, but I would also like to make her something else. Had thought about maybe making up some recipe cards with family recipes, but her future husband owns his own up scale restaurant. I'm not sure if she cooks or not.

Any ideas you have would greatly help.

When my granddaughter got married here's what I did. I took her wedding invitation which was quite lovely and made a scrapbook page around it. I put their first names, some cute wedding/love embellishments and framed it in a shadowbox frame (12 x 12) that I found at Michaels.

She absolutely loved it and put it on an easel display with the guestbook at her wedding.

What about a Newlywed Survival Kit. You can decorate the can in her colors.

My family is very traditional. However, my cousin who got married in January, didn't want to follow any of the traditions. She just wanted cash. I wanted to honour both. I made a beautiful box and matching card and then put the large dollar bills in the bottom. On top I put in loonies and toonies (Canadian coins) until I had a pound. All her friends and bridesmaids thought it was bizarre but my family knew instantly what I'd done and we all had a good laugh.

Traditionally brides were given a "pounding" when they married. It would be a pound of sugar, a pound of rice, a pound of flour, etc. to set up her new home. My family often does this as a shower gift and then everyone contributes to a large gift off the registry rather than lots of little gifts.
