I was wondering how many of us actually get around to trying some of the things we've pinned on our boards. So far I find I am a "collector" but am determined to try some of the ideas I've saved soon instead of just adding more pins.
How about everyone else? Care to join me in the use instead of just collect movement?
Also I have 82 Tried Recipes in my folder. I have made and added 82 new recipes to my recipe box!!!

I absolutely love Pinterest. I get teased about the sheer number of pins I have, but I truly do use it and look at it daily. I created a board entitled Pinterest Things I Have Done to refer back to, and my friends like to see the books and recipes I've tried.
I have thousands more cards and stamping ideas I've pinned than anything else, but I don't usually CASE cards and so I haven't pinned many of them to my Done board. I find Pinterest is a great motivational and inspirational tool for my stamping, so it serves a great purpose in just getting me going. If I can quit pinning cards, however, and actually get myself off the couch to go make something!
I "case" cards all the time too. I love it for collecting my ideas.
I too have a recipe folder for "Recipes that I have tried and loved". Several from my Gotta Try board have made it in there. I try to do one new recipe a week but sometimes it is every other week. Today I will be making banana bread from a recipe that I pinned.

For this reason I try not to do this. I look at Pinterest, case ideas, but don't pin them. I jot the idea down and move on. I have wasted so much time pinning things when life was passing me by....
But you are right. I need to get into the habit of actually doing something with the idea. Otherwise I don't retain the info and now I have a huge collection of techniques/products I had to buy to do that/notes.... and don't remember the details.
I only pin things I actually think I'll make so I tend to pin only a few things. I'd never go through hundreds of pins as I'd just do a search. I also clean out my boards every now and then to keep the number low.
I usually case ideas for my cards and layouts, but I have to admit I have so many pinned that I will probably never get to. I do have a recipe one that I put in my tried and loved recipes.
Do any of you delete the pin after you cased it or just keep it in your boards?
I have never pinned cards but that would be a great idea! I have made some of the general crafting ideas and a lot of the recipes that I find there actually get made
I have to hang my head in shame, and admit I pin and pin but usually cant find when I want to do a particular idea, end up googling and going from there. So many ideas, so many techniques it helps that I can pin. Stops my head exploding.
I have a hunks board. I wouldn't mind using some guys on that board. ;)
I have tried a lot of my crafting pins, especially the paper crafting. It might not be the whole idea but bits and pieces of something I liked. For example a card might have a flower that I liked. I made the flower.
Pinterest is like my big online Smash book and online bookmark site. I do refer to it often. I have a Dolls I Own board. I use that one quite often when I am not home. Friends will ask me about dolls I have gotten for my collection and I can show them easily.
If there is something I have wanted to buy for my home, etc.. I can check my pins if I am out for a visual reminder on what I wanted to do.
I really rely on Pinterest. It has saved me so much space from carrying notebooks in my purse. I have free space on my tablet for not having all those photo's I was using for reminders.
I have over 15 Pinterest boards or more. I do have them separated into categories. Like Christmas Cards and 7 or 8 boards of Shabby Chic cards, cards for men, house mouse cards, Magnolia cards, 3 boards of regular cards, Mixed media cards etc...
Funny you asked this, because this week I cased 3 cards from my Pinterest boards.
I love using my pinterest boards as inspiration! When I make a card, first thing I do is visit some favourite challenges of mine. Then if I'm still in need of inspiration, I'll go to my pinned sketches or cards and look through those. I usually end up CASE'ing something or combining a few things to make a new card.
Well I am mostly a collector of pins but I have tried several recipes. I keep saying I'm going to start doing more of the things I have pinned.
I have 4000+ pins but at least 1/4 of them are decorating ideas for our house or ideas for our yard and we've only been in the house for 6 months so we haven't gotten a chance or the money to use all of them yet.

I was using my inspiration board quite a bit for a while, but lately I've not had much stamping time so I use whatever time I have for creating instead of looking. I did make a board for cards I'd made from my inspiration photo board and I move the inspiration pin over along with the project I've made.
You've inspired me to look through that inspiration board again as it has some great ideas waiting for me.
I googled instructions on how to print your pinterest boards. So when I want to make a card or get ideas - I refer to the printed pictures in a notebook in my craft room. I find it easier to see the print rather then constantly turning my phone on. I can post the link if anyone wants
I have pinned A LOT of cards but have cased only a handful of them. I'm trying to get better about that. I am better when it comes to trying new recipes, though I haven't pinned nearly so many of those.
I also have some boards that I just simply like to look at, such as inspirational quotes and funny cat pictures.

I'm just starting, finally, to utilize pinterest effectively. I like that I can have secret boards. One of those secret boards is for card class ideas. I can see other ways to help me share with my customers. Public customers and private customers. It is also nice to be able to keep a "look at a quick glance" board of things I like or made instead of searching through blogs. Somehow the filing system on pinterest appeals to the way I organize.
I knew there were other "collectors" like me here, lol.
I have promised myself to start using my pins more. It's nice to see others who make the same promise to themselves and then struggle to follow through.
If started using my pins, I wouldn't get any time in next 10 years to do anything at all!!
I do try my pins once in a while, probably less than 5% of all my pins.
Inquiring minds want to know - if you've tried your pins, how did it workout? I would imagine that casing cards would have good results, but other things perhaps not so much.
I tried to make the Halloween Wreath made with Ping-Pong balls and googlie eyes that turned out awful, plus it was so expensive buying that many balls. Another fail was baking my BS plates - the broke after a few uses. Oh and don't get started on the recipes -- geesh some are awful.

How about you - what's your success rate?
In the two years I have been pinning, I have come across maybe 5 recipes that were bad. I have added 82 recipes to my recipe box.
I have run across ingredients that have wrong measurements and in the directions of the recipe some times I run across an ingredient that was left out. So I have to back track to figure the recipe out. I just figure it was posters error on not posting the correct or full recipe.

I would love it if you would post that link. Thanks.

I have gotten a lot of good ideas off of pins! I have a scrapbooking board that I pin to and when I am at a crop I can bring that board up to have some sketches to work with.
I have tried 95% of the things that I pin (in the card making area ;)) I find myself becoming more addicted to pinning. I even recently started face timing a friend and we pick a pin and do it together. So much fun.

Wow 95%!!!!! :o I'm impressed!!!! I must be doing the 5% your not because I haven't tried many of the ones I've pinned. You've given me a goal.....Try at least 6 current pins that I have on my Card inspiration board every week. Hmmmm..we'll see how that works out for me! But as for you.....WAY TO GO!!!:cool::cool:
I pin lots of stuff that I may either CASE or just be inspired by. Sometimes I pin a card because I like the way they used an embellishment or a particular layout. I try to adapt what I CASE to supplies I already have. I pin lots of mixed media ideas hoping that some day I'll get to work on canvas or MDF.

I too would love that link Copperkids...It sounds like a great concept.
i have to admit that somehow I have 100 boards on Pinterest - and all except 3 are card or copic related. I have boards just for stamps &/or dies I have, (broken by mfg, and separately by topic = like floral, birthday etc). When I buy a new stamp or die, I surf for ideas of what others have done, and pin. I have boards for copics, broken by color groups & some speciality things like coloring metals etc. When I sit down to think about what i need to make, I start with my boards of ideas for the products I already own. I use my copic boards as reference when i am planning what colors i need to get that 'right' red rose. I have boards with color combo inspirations, others where i pin my fave blogs, other with favorite layouts. My boards are invaluable to my cardmaking.
I love Pinterest. I have many boards for everything from cooking, cards. Silhouette Cameo, decorating, gardening, holiday and so forth. I use so many ideas from all my boards. I love to look at the boards even if I do not use the ideas. I love the pinning feature on Splitcoast! I use another thing you might be interested in, it is called Bloglovin. There are many of my favorite card bloggers who subscribe to this service. You pick blogs you want to follow and each day you get an email with a link that sends you to blog lovin and all the blogs are shown if they have a post. It is wonderful. It is not just for card blogs it is for all interests!
I pin a lot. I have almost 8k and I do go back and look at most of them. Granted I haven't looked at all of them again and I've been contemplating this issue as my pin count has grown. I've made quite a few awesome recipes and I go back and look at my crafty stuff again. With the fashion and home dec boards, I haven't used many of them but I do go back and look at them as inspiration. But I'll join the 'use it more' bandwagon!
I think Pinterest is an amazing and dangerous place! I can get lost for hours and hours and hours, so unless I have a few of those, I don't let myself go there. I started a few boards but haven't added to them for ages. I spent most of my morning today looking at Lylacfey's boards (lots of eye candy - thanks!), and my friend has a bizillion and twelve card ideas pinned (lots of duplicates, but still...)
The rest of my morning was looking for a particular post on a blog that I remembered seeing several years ago (never did find it), and I saw a truckload of ideas there that I probably should have pinned, just so I could find them again, and remember what they triggered in my brain. I may have to re-think my "Pinterest position" and join you in pinning and using those pins!
By being more descriptive on the board names and making more specific boards I find things easier when I go back to look for them. Only after I did that I started using my pins more often.
BTW, hot water technique helped my BS plates and they didn't break after using them.
