I love to use eyelets to finish off a gift tag. It gives it that professional, "how did they do that" look.
I've even used steel rule dies to cut tags out of the Stampin Up die packages and sandwiched the paper tag inside. Finish it off with an eyelet and a ball chain and voila -- a great luggage tag, backpack tag, or super cool gift tag.
No one's getting my eyelets!
(Although I will say this -- what was I thinking when I bought green glitter eyelets?!?!)
On the other hand, there have been a few duds -- fancy edge scissors.
I looked for these recently and couldn't find them, so I guess I did purge them. I found it difficult to get a straight edge with them. Border dies are so much easier.
Also Smooch. I bought one to try it, and I never use it. I'm just not a glitter paint, glitter glue kind of crafter. I'll have to push myself to experiment with it. The one I have is hot pink.

I had a huge collection of brads and eyelets and mentioned on another forum that I wanted them gone as I did not use them and a forum member said she would like them so I mailed them to California. At least they will be used and not taking up space here.
A thought just struck me, what if the problem is not that they are old but we do not know how to use them?
What I have a ton of is designer paper. Love to have it, buy it, but find it hard to figure out how to use on cards, so I just ignore it sitting on a rack behind my desk. Too much ribbon also, but put some on a card just yesterday even though I know the recipient doesn't like bows! The card needed it! teehee

That's a great design idea stampindoe! I like panel cards! And you get a bunch! Or a great way to use up pretty scraps!
I'm all for allowing DP to do the heavy lifting on a card-if you have really pretty paper-you can cut to just smaller than the card base, pop on a sentiment, maybe a embellie and you are good to go! I know I dont want to hide pretty paper as a thin border under an image panel.
I did that for Christmas last year-I have this lovely 12 x 12 burgundy shimmer paper with flocked dark burg poinsettas I got lucky and found at one of the paper discounters....popped that on a gold shimmer layer and a matching die cut Peace and some rhinestones. Used up the scraps with a strip on the inside. Went over very well-I am thinking I will make more to try to sell. Definitely made making 60 much easier!
Use your paper people! More pretty always showing up! Dont ask how I know! LOL

Some of the sketch challenges are great for using up DP! At least for me - otherwise I tend to leave it sitting there because I like making my own backgrounds, but set me a sketch to follow and most likely I will pull out paper and make a (tiny) dent in my supplies.
I love dies that do this also, like quilting block dies. I cut 6 different DSPs with the same die and change up the peices inside - I have 6 different cards for various occasions. And this is the best use of those sheets in a DSP pad that you just wouldn't use on a regular card... you know, the design isn't you or the pattern is too big or too small... yea, cut that thing up into small geometric shapes and set it inside a quilt block frame and it shines.
I had a bead organizer full of eyelets, carefully arranged by colors and styles. One day I just threw it out and didn't look back. Brads are next. Once you throw some stuff away it is easy to keep going, clearing both shelves and your mind.

No! Nooo! Noooooooo...! Oops, sorry. That was my inner hoarder speaking. I'll tell her to sit down and shut up now. LOL

That's me. I sometimes get overwhelmed and just pitch stuff out out because it doesn't seem worth it to try to sell. I'm organizing to give a bunch of stuff to Good Will. I'd rather have a tax deduction than fuss with yard sales or something.
