Even though I'm no longer a demo I still count how many of my sets retire each year and I "lost" 14 this go-round. If I were still active, that would have put a really big dent in my "available to demo" arsenal as I was pretty much a hobby demo.
I was surprised to see French Foliage on there-I thought it might make it to "classic" status as I see it used a lot and it has so much to offer. I'd keep just for the spatter alone, but the script is great too and I do like the look of the leaves.
Both Morning Cup and the Teashoppe set are out so that must mean folks were right about a new coffee set!
Established Elegance, Nature Walk and Artistic Etchings are all sets I use for vintage looks-wonder if something new and fabulous will be offered in this style?
I was surprised at all the Bigz dies that are retiring. Fancy Favor box, Scallop Envelope, Petite Pocket, Petal Cone, Two Tags, Scallop Square and more. Definitely curious to see the new offerings.
Elements of style, French foliage, nature walk. Sad to see them go! Also, noticed the metallic brads are on the list. Is that just a reconfig or will we really be out of metallic brads? What about the color collection brads and buttons and designer paper (is it just a reconfig with the color refresh or are they bringing something new?)... And I have so many questions about what might be continuing from the seasonal catalogues.... Oh my!
A lot of the retiring stamp sets are still available (and cheaper) as digital downloads. I used French Foliage a lot last fall to make hybrid cards. And of course, there's always lot's of new and exciting things coming with SU
I called it on the Bingo Bits, ornament set a bunch of several others, but I'm surprised at Greeting Card Kids, thought that would be a classic.
And the grid paper? What are demos going to use at workshops now? Maybe they're just redesigning it. And the markers set obviously, because of the retiring colors.

There are only 2 Christmas ones remaining so apparently there will be a huge increase there. Of those retiring, I'm surprised that "Come to Bethlehem" is getting cut. I also agree about French Foliage. Am tempted to get that one.

IMO French Foliage is worth it for the spatter alone! It's one of those very useful stamps that I pull out a lot. Like the sand from Shore Thing!
I love the little Paris postmark, too!
I'm glad I picked up Morning Cup and Circle Circus when I did! I love those two. I am wondering why they are retiring the tabletop cutting board? Do you think they will get a new cutter or just not a need for that since you can buy a cutter anywhere? I was surprised to see Pool Party twine going, so I'm wondering if they are just ditching the twine since Pool Party is staying?
I'm also surprised about French Foliage, I love that set and think it should have lasted longer.
You mentioned Christmas sets. NEWSFLASH!! My demo had her sneak peak and told me there are NO Christmas sets in the new catalogue, there must be a bigger seasonal mini in the fall.

I'm hoping that there will be more/better Halloween sets, too (mini or main - don't care which). I don't really do "cutesy" for Halloween - I really like more vintage/Goth images for that... (although I have a cute Penny Black set for the grandkids - don't wanna scare 'em)
Well, I signed up to be a demo yesterday and now I've seen the new catty. This is the 4th year that I've been stamping and I have to say this is by by far my favorite SU catalogue so far. I LOVE IT! And my wallet is going to be empty, I am totally inspired! I don't know what the rules are for hints and such so I'll play it safe and leave it at that.
Is there somewhere I can get a retired list? Can someone email me one? I haven't received one from my demo yet. I went to the SU site yesterday and started going through the retired stuff, but it shows it only eight items to a page and I got tired of going through that. I'd rather doing it from a list with my catalog in front of me. Thanks in advance. Kate
You can change that. At the top of the listings is a box by the show button with a little arrow. Click on that arrow and a drop down list appears with choices as to how many items per page you want. Click "all" and then everything is on one page!
I saw the new catalog today! Much much better than last year's in my opinion. The layout is better for finding items. The last one I couldn't tell where the items for sale were, everything kind of blended together and I missed some things because of the way the layout was. There is a lot in the new catalog I "need" but I was disappointed that the new hexagon punch looks too big to punch for the size I need with the honeycomb embossing folder. Maybe I'm wrong, because I know what I saw on the screen, everything was larger than normal size, but still it looked like the hexagon is larger than the 1" punch....

That was the other thing..all the punches and dies that retired. The petal cone die I thought was a staple item..so many uses. Wonder if there will be new dies. Surprised to see the dot ribbon going, but new ribbon is needed. Plus whats with the grid paper retiring? I just finally bought it and now its gone.

The blog link in my signature has PDF and Excel links to the retiring stamps list and accessories list.

there's grid paper in the new catalog. I think they just redesigned the look of the paper pad
I'm sad that I can no longer purchase spots :( - I know, they've been gone a full catty now; but I miss being able to update ink colors via the spots. I only carry the neutral colors in full size pads....
sad to see the Christmas Lodge go. I thought that would stick around a bit as it feels very classic to me.
Good to see the hexagon punch to match the hexagon folder.

What, no Christmas sets? What are they thinking? I'm surprised that Circle Circus made it to only one catalogue round.

I too, like having spots. This has been mentioned in a few other threads, but you can buy uninked spots and use Stampin Up! refills to make your own spots. Here's a link (hopefully it'll work!) to where many folks get the uninked spots:

I think I just fainted. There better be a bajillion Christmas sets in the new mini catalog then. Just sayin' :!: ;)
