Default SU Old colors with new names?

Hi all,

I have some old retired sets of 1-inch stamps that are still usable but a bit dryer than I like. Most of those colors have retired and I don't have refill inks for them. I'm wondering if SU recycles old colors and just gives them new names? If yes, I assume I could buy the "new" reinkers? If you have knowledge of old colors for which I could do this, I'd love to have that information and/or your experiences.

Thanks,
Marye

I don't think that there are exact color matches between old and new. To me there is wee bit of difference between them. My personal preference would be to buy new. You can look on Ebay for some of the retired refills.

I reink my retired colors with current colors that are close to them. I love the linen pads so I want to hang on to them until they are no longer usable.

I reink:
Close To Cocoa with Soft Suede
Bravo Burgundy with Merry Merlot
Always Artichoke with Mossy Meadow
Going Grey with Smoky Slate
Really Rust with Cajun Craze

The retired and current colors are not an exact match, but they are close enough that it doesn't matter to me. I don't even wash out the ink pad before reinking in the current color.

What a great idea, Nicole!
I also like the linen pads.

Thanks, Nicole, very helpful to know. I have been going through many of my old, dried up, retired Stampin Up clamshell-style pads that are still in good condition and wondering what to do with them. I’m going to follow your lead and re-ink with similar color refills - even if not Stampin Up ink - as long as it’s another dye ink and not pigment or hybrid. It’s worth a try!
