Yeah, I like that stamp... except for the big word describing the sahara desert. I know it's a vintage map and all, but I'd have picked a different version. I'm sure it's historically accurate but it makes me uncomfortable and isn't something I want to use.
Sorry ..what did I miss?? ....was it Arabia? really??

That map came from either the Library of Congress or The National Archives and is a historical map. There is a country in Africa named Niger (pronounced with a long I). Many historians assume the country was named because the Latin word for black is Niger or the Portuguese word which is negro. All this is to say, that name on the map is not meant to be offensive. Our language grows and changes over time. Take the the word gay. When I was little it meant happy.
SU was simply using a historical map with NO often sense intended. They responded to the sensitivity of their customers by changing the stamp. It will be edited out on the world map stamp.

I didn't think they did intend offense and, like I said, I was sure it was historically accurate.
I did miss that! Was it in the demo forum? Or maybe I just didn't read enough posts here.
I am actually very glad to hear that. It is a very nicely detailed stamp and I really liked that example underneath it.
It's on my wishlist too. I'm sending out an email tomorrow and will include that note in case others looked as closely as you did (which is great, because I was planning on buying it without even looking that closely, then saw the chatter re: the correction).
I finally have my catalogue and have gone through it a couple times. I also love the World Map, goes well with either vintage or masculine themes. The Open Sea is a perfect pairing for it.
I think what I notice about the catalogue is the host of projects that aren't cards. I find the card samples aren't my style, for the most part. I do enjoy looking at all the other ideas but I'm mostly a card maker. That is where the gallery here and Pinterest are so important for me. That is where I get the majority of my inspiration.
And like most years, I will find more that I like as I go along!
I finally got my hands on a new catalog, and I must say I'm pretty underwhelmed. But for me, that's a good thing. I have plenty of stamps, etc! I wasn't crazy about the new In Colors, but I loved the brown sugar and strawberry slush. That seemskre of a truer pink than they tend to have- there seems to be a lot of "peachy pink".

Yep... that is pretty much what always happens to me It may take a few trips through and seeing samples and then I realize what I like and what isn't my style.
I have learned that I am not an impluse buyer or chooser.
I do wish more of the samples were cards, but I can appreciate them wanting to show more paper crafting in general. As for the map, I didn't notice the issue- I was looking at it to se if Asia was represented, since that's where my dh is from!
I am in lovelovelove with the new in colors! The pretty minty and peachy pink/coral and soft brown. All very trendy colors right now, but have a vintage touch. I need the ink pads/paper pack!
Got my catty on Friday and have made a wish list. I cannot talk to anyone about items in the catty because my present wish list is manageable! I have sticky notes on the pages-hopefully no new ones will sprout.
Like the new Artisan Label punch. Can't figure out why the new flower punch is called a Pansy-looks more like a dogwood flower (I am not a horticulturist by any means).
Loving some of the new sentiments within the stamp sets. Really like the Wetlands stamps set for masculine cards since I don't have many I can use for 'guy' cards.
Have a question regarding a nugget box on page 121, upper right corner. Does anyone know how the container is made. Also, the pyramid container on page 119 . (Is the pennant die somehow used?) Asked my demo and she didn't know.

Had a chance to play with the clay and forms tonight. A very very soft material, reminds me of foam when it is set up. We coloured the buttons with markers after, sharpies. I think it would be messy using reinkers to mix in. I'm not overly interested in getting into that product but it was cool to see. If you did a bunch ahead just white, you would have them ready and colour them as needed.

How did you like the colors you got with markers? My clay and molds will be here tomorrow. I have a whole box of disposable rubber gloves that I'm hoping will work well.

We just did 2 buttons in yellow; I found the deep groves of the buttons were a bit hard to get the sharpie down into but my demo said just push it down, the foam/clay isn't rock hard so it worked fine. I think mixing the ink in would give a bit more uniform colour but I like the idea of leaving them white so you have no waste of coloured clay, and you can just colour as desired. I was happy enough with the over all look after it was coloured.

Frist off I too LOVE the Wetland stamp set. I also LOVE these stamps for guys,
You're my hero. pg51 The Great Outdoors pg50 Walkin the wild pg72
You could also use this stamp set for guys. By the tide pg77.
I'm very happy to see that there are more Guy related stamps in this issue.
As for the box issue, I can't answer that either. Good luck on finding that information out.

She used the aqua painter and reinkers to color her molded clay. She also pressed them into the firm foam pads to color them. Both of those methods appeal to me. Then I wouldn't have to wear gloves or use zippy bags  The UPS man is due here any time now

the catalog itself is a huge BARGAIN. It has so many lovely ideas. And plenty inside to purchase as well!
I go through mine with several packets of Post-it flags. One color for "must haves," another color for "likely wants," and a final color for "Case this!" because there are so many fun projects in there.
I got my new catty yesterday from my new demo! woo hoo!
She included a little bookmark that shows the new In Colors in ink and cs samples. I have to say, the colors are a little different in person than the photos. Baked Brown Sugar is yummy...like a softer, lighter version of soft suede. I love the new colors!
