Default SU Best Of Stamp sets...

I should probably reserve my judgement until all the sets have been released but... Is anyone else disappointed in the image choices? I was really hoping they would bring back some things I haven't see since retired...like some Classic cars& trucks, Train Images like all Aboard...Flamingos like Tickled pink or realistic ( Flamingo girl here) .. The Wild West set Wanda... Stella Stamper...These are all things that go High on Ebay and all retired before I started stamping... How many hearts and flowers does a girl need?! I hope they do something good for the rest of the sets..I only bought 1 so far because I do already own MANY of the "BEST" images and can't bring myself to rebuy them just to get the "New" image...(even if I truely LOVE it )
Thanks for Letting me vent...

A friend and I were discussing this recently. I haven't bought any sets. Just not that thrilling. The one stamp in the set I like is usually one I already had. I would also like to see more photopolymer choices. I haven't bought any of those because they aren't my type.

Seems like a good idea in theory, but not very compelling in actuality. Seems like a missed opportunity for SU. I think the idea of re-issuing entire sets would have been more popular.

Yes. They could have people vote which sets they'd like to see come back. Then take the top votes and re-issue a few sets, even if for a limited time only. But I'd like it to be a write in vote, not choose from what THEY want to be brought back. It would be interesting to see which sets would be selected. OH, and they would have to be the pre-cut stamps. I sure wouldn't want to go back to cutting out my own with rubber cutting scissors!!

I am not sure that people would have been happy with those popular images re-released in the best-of sets. I bought the flower set and was surprised to see that the stamps were so much smaller in scale than the originals. Krista's probably right that the re-release would have been a smarter idea. But who knows-- if photopolymer sells well for them, maybe that is when they will tackle re-releasing popular sets (I know, much to the chagrin of the rubber lovers.)

I also would like to know how they determined what images go in the "best of" sets. There are a couple of headscratchers, IMO.

I bought "Best of Flowers" and actually like having the new images smaller than the originals. I use the original on the front of a card and the re-issued stamp on the inside of the card and even on the envelope.

Smile SU Sets

Like everyone I haven't been "wow'd" yet, I just went through all of my sets (145) and finally decided to get rid of them. I'm sure once I get rid of them they will eventually come back and I'll have to purchase them again. That's normally how it works..lol But for now the ones i'm getting rid of are up for sale in ebay and hopefully someone else will enjoy them !

I agree with you all. I also have not bought any of them nor have I bought any of the photopolymer sets. I'm trying to be more selective these days. I seem to have plenty of flowers and butterflies to last me a lifetime! Also not thrilled with the holiday catalog which is probably a good thing because I have plenty of Christmas stamps too!

I totally agree!! I mean, how many ways can you do that solid bird image? Once was more than enough for me!! But I figure, what I don't spend with SU, I'll spend on Taylored Expressions or Whipper Snapper!!

I haven't bought any yet, but I know at least 3 sets I'll be getting... Best of Birthdays, Best of Flowers and Best of Butterflies.

I don't like the other four sets. The only reason I've waited to buy is because I don't want to buy more than 6.

I will say I too would have preferred to be able to vote on sets.

I purchased "Best of Flowers" due to one or two I wanted. My idea was to give the others to a friend. I ended up giving them ALL to the friend. I was not impressed with the dinky size. So, I won't be buying any of the other sets either.

Oh,well. It's a savings for me anyway.

I have only bought the flowers one so far as well. And I just received the Christmas catalogue and not too much I want in there. Which is probably a good thing, cause I have been wanting to get a lot from the main catalogue. But not impressed with the Christmas sets for the most part. Glad I bought the ones from last year.

The disappointing part to me is that they are "clear mount". Yes, I am still stamping with wood, I have NOT embraced the clear mount. I live in Seattle, maybe its the humidity, but on more than one occasion I have flipped a clear block over to get ready to stamp and the darn image falls off, or leaps off, of flings across the table. It makes me nuts... so I'm still using wood where the image never falls off.

My biggest dear... is that SU will eventually go to all clear mount images (eeek).

I'd be surprised if they did that. They have a loyal wood-mount-loving following, and are still releasing some stamps in wood-mount only.

Tip - use a little snail tape on your stamp and make sure your blocks are clean.

Take a look at how this demo has her clear stamps. (this is also a video about the new flower shop set and pansy punch helpful tip)

Stampin Up Flower Shop and Pansy Punch Prep Tip - YouTube

The way she has her clear stamps set up enable one to just have the real sticky part of the stamp that will stick better to your blocks.

But I agree, I wouldn't want to lose the option of wooden stamps from STampin Up.
