For those of you that are a fan of the unmounted rubber stamps I would like to know how you store them. Please no CD cases. That idea doesn't appeal to me at all. Also wondering if anyone has ever tried the stamp storage boards from TAC that you insert into a 3 ring binder. If so, how well does it work for you. With so many companies going unmounted or at least offering that as an option, I figure that some off you out there have come up with some ingenious solutions. Can't wait to here your suggestions.ThanksJen

Hello Jen, I haven't personally done this, But I have heard a lot of other's who use The Stamp storage boards and LOVE it.
Anything that is smooth you can put your Unmounted Rubber stamps (with cling backing) on. or in.
Here are some links to Unmounted Rubber Stamp storage ideas:
I was glad to see that TAC brought back their white storage boards in this catty...they came in packs of 3 for $4. I use them for my background stamps...there is a bit of flex in them but they work well for that. The hard stamp storage board has zero flex but I haven't tried them...just because they are more expensive!
Now TAC has come out with another option called a Mini StorRIte Storage portfolio...it includes storage sheets and indexing cards. The size of the sheets are 6 1/2 x 5 1/2 and then the portfolio has this size listed: 10 1/2 by 11 3/4. Should be interesting to see this in action! Looks very portable for sure.
I just use shiny page protectors with cardboard (like the back of legal pads) in them, all in a 3 ring binder, for my rubber cling-backed stamps. I put the larger sheets/sets of clear stamps inside page protectors, and put those in a 3 ring binder. For my smaller stamps (especially those clear dollar stamps) I have baseball card holders in a 3 ring binder, and put things in the pockets. I also store a few premade diecuts in there (when I get going with the cuttlebug and make a few extra hearts or whatever thats a handy way to store them).
I don't use cling mount. I use Aleene's Tack it Over Again. I stamp each stamp on a white 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of CS. I slide that inside a sheet protector that goes in a 3 ring binder. On the OUTSIDE of the sheet protector, I stick the stamp just off to one side of the image below it that it matches. Hope you can understand this description. I store everything in 3 ring binders, by category.
I use 3-ring binders. Because I have hundreds and hundreds of stamps, CD cases would be very hard to organize. I think that I currently have 10 binders and I'm planning to divide the "flowers" book (which weighs a ton) into two -- "SU flowers" and non-SU flowers."
Some of the other binders are Christmas, Animals and Bugs, Bible Verses. Then there are I think four binders that are listed alphabetically from Angels to Weddings -- with Boats, Cars, Food, People, Trees et cetera in between.
IMPORTANT: I have one small INDEX binder that just has a paper copy that matches each of the pages in the big binders with rubber.

Jen ~ When I made the decision to go unmounted, I did not want to store them in binders. To heavy, and clumsy IMO. What I wanted was a portable system. I got an idea off SCS, and went a step further. Off to find the post so I can link it here.
at a convention I went to a lady had them in envelopes, she stamped the image on the outside and put them in. She used bare rubber, no cling stuff. It took up only a tiny amount of space and she could flip through them to see what she had. It was cute.

I'm a 3-ring binder gal, too. Some of mine are backed with cling foam and some with Aleene's Tack-it-over-and-over. I have some on page protectors with cardboard inside and some in page protector-type CD pockets, photo pockets (my background stamps, mostly), and baseball card pockets. In the pockets I insert an indexed scrap and attach the stamp to a piece of plastic such as a piece from a salad-bar container. I have notebooks for animals, plants, holidays, words and phrases, and miscellaneous. I also stick my clear stamps in the notebooks in various size page-protector pockets. I must have hundreds of stamps, but it takes up only about 2 feet of bookshelf space, leaving more room for all my other must-have goodies.

I do exactly the same thing as Kelly...and I didn't even copy!
My cards are smaller, a bit over 4 x 6, because I planned an envelope made out of exactly one sheet of cardstock, and that is what fit inside. I decided not to make the envelopes, but am not changing the size of the cards now! I have over 200 sets and refuse a "do over".
Actually, I do one thing different...I put the set name sticker from the sticker sheet on the top of the card before I laminate.
I buy my laminating film from Sams. Best price around.
I store my sets in drawers. If I put the sets in there WM in the case...2-4 sets per drawer, without the cases...6-7 sets per drawer. But Unmounted, 18 sets per drawer!!! (Just in case you are wondering, I have a large custom-made cabinet for my stamping and scrapping, and at the current time I can't change to anything else. It is very space-efficient.)
Gina K had a post on her blog about storing unmounteds on those 8x10 plastic photo holders, the ones you slide a photo in and it has the leg that stands it up (a larger version of those ones that are used for the post-it note holders that were popular here a while ago). She stamps an index sheet on a piece of paper she slides into the holder and then puts her stamps on top on the outside of the holder. Then she stacks them one under another. I'd eventually like to do this with my sentiments, so they are always visible (not stacking them but having them side by side on top of a shelf or something, when I have my bigger stamping room some day).
I use the boards but not in binders--Sunday International has some clear plastic boxes that they go in, like a magazine holder. I can flip through them easier in those than in binders, I find. All my Bible verses are in a binder, though. And I do have CD cases for the sets that fit in them. It's only my larger sets, and single images, that go on the sheets.

TAC demo #2239
The bulk of my unmounted are on cling foam and then I "cling" them on to a sheet of glossy paper (I purchased a ream of glossy ages ago for very little $). Then this sheet goes into a plastic page protector (a box of which I picked up at an office supply store again for very little $). The page protecter is the 3 ring kind, so these all get stored in 3 ring binders, I use the 4 inch binders and have 4 of them filled with my unmounted. For very small UM's I use CD cases because they are easier to get to.
I'm back from my trip to the inlaws...had very limited computer access so the trip was painful!!
The StorRite Portfolios are in the new catty...The system looks similiar to FL_Kelly's set up (which I love BTW!) but the pages are bound together on the side as if they were in a binder. Not sure how many sheets come in the portfolio but when TAC opens on Wednesday, I can call them. They have the mini one shown and then the larger size that is available is the 10 1/2 by 11 3/4 so that's probably a regular binder size. That one is kinda expensive but it'll help to know how many sheets are in there...
I'll repost on Wednesday unless one of the other demos has the info and posts...
I have a few clear stamps that I have purchased from QVC and I am also in need of a storage system. For some reason the cd cases do not appeal to me either. I was crusing some blogs and found this system, seems it might be a nice way to get started.
I do something to everyone else using 3 ring binders except that I keep a lot of my sheets sitting out on my desk because I find the binders annoying. I have a little description and pictures of my storage on my blog here. I use a lot of EZ Mount for my unmounted rubber but the storage was originally created because I own so many acrylic stamps. I have all my SU stamps on their wood b/c I only have like 10 sets so the space they take up is no biggie.
All of my stamps are UMs and I store them in quarter sheet envelopes by theme. I stamp the image on the outside of the envelope and then just tuck the stamp inside. I also add the name of the stamp company under the image because I know I'd forget otherwise. I can't be the only one here who owns a ton of stamps that aren't SU. Still in a quandry as how to store those stamps, though. I think I'll just use one envelope per set and file them according to theme alphabetically. I found this to be a very efficient system and I've tried them all. That's what happens when you have 15 years of accumulated stamps from all companies.
Just for curiosities sake, why do you think CD cases wouldn't work for you?
Just getting back to this thread since I made my first couple of posts. So my apologies on just now answering your question. I think I feel they would not work for me mostly because I don't really understand how the heck you use them. First off, I see more and more of the slim CD cases instead of the original version (thicker ones) for sale in my area. Secondly, I'm just not sure if the center ring where you would normally attach you CD comes out and if it doesn't then it's kind of a waste of space. I've thrown away God knows how many of the CD cases before I started investing in unmounted stamps so, I don't have any empty one just to play with. Also if the center piece does come out how much of a pain is it to get it out? So, I guess I just have more concerns about it than actually feeling that it won't work for me.
I use the CD cases and you can purchase the original version at Staples. I don't know about an Office Max or other office supply store. The black insert just pops out so there is no problem there. I label the end of my CD case with the stamp set and stamp a sheet so that it shows on one side of the CD case. Right now I store them in an old wood cassette storage. Works great and it is right there on my desk next to where I work. I also store my stamp pads in another cassette storage container. These can be found at yard sales or Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.
Hope this helps.

I have even unmounted my SU stamps; especially the wheels. They come off the wheels easily. I mount them on EZ mount and attach to a cling board. These are so much easier to work with as I never did get the pressure right when I used the wheel. Easier to use any color of ink you would like too.
I started with Cd cases- and quickly realized that I had way too many for this system- but the old style cases are realtivley easy to order online and popping out the centers was trivial.
Then I moved up to storing them in the target $1 document boxes. I also out grew that system.
Then I went to the 3 ring binder system LOVE it! I can finally see all of one type of stamp in a page or 3. I also broke up sets. Best descision I ever made.
This way all my thank you stamps are on one page instead of scattered through various sets. Same with all my themes.
I find I use them much more and totally rediscovered some stamps I had forgotten about
I was thinking about unmounting my wheels, too, just for the same reason as Linda. I hate how the images are all warped b/c I put different pressure when I roll.

How do you use the wheeled stamps without the wheels?
you use them just like a regular flat stamp-which off the wheel is basically all they are. lol
you can either mount them on some foam or just use aileens Tack it over & over and then use with an acrylic block like any unmounted stamp
Ok now I understand. You just open them up and lay them flat.
This has been such an interesting thread! I'm seriously thinking of doing this too and I've only been collecting SU sets for about a year now so I only have about thirty and a few still unmounted.
Do it now before it's too overwhelming! It was so hard to get through all of mine!
I am! I just ordered a few sets of these sleeves with inserts to see how I like them. Instead of their box I'm going to try using canvas boxes I bought from b,b & b.
