Default Stampin up ink pads

Hi all, i have had a break from Stampin well buying stuff in any case and i already have an obscene amount of stuff, anyhoo my ink is getting tired but i like the original StampinUp pads not the sponge ones they went to ...my question is what are they using now is it still the nasty sponge type or are they back to a nice pad type ? Thanks x

I took a 10+ year break from stamping so I can relate. I’m not sure sure what you mean by the original ink pads, but I had the bigger flip over kind with the finger grips on the side. Some were the kind that had some sort of fabric and some were spongy. A lot of the colors were retired and I didn’t have enough ink in the refillers to get the pads juicy again. Anyway, I ordered new pads for most of the 40 SU! colors and I don’t like these pad as much. They are spongy but I’m not sure it’s the same foam they started with.  I really miss the finger grips! I think I would have spent less money if I bought reinkers from eBay. I did think about ripping the pads out of the cases with the finger grips and replacing them with some make your own ink pad products (can’t think of the name of it right now, but the pad is stuck down with some really hard glue that did want to come off. Also, Tim Holtz has some sort of ink refresher spray that might help your pads.

The SU ink pads are still foam not the old style cloth.
