If 20% more than the price at other common scrapers' sites is a "great deal"............wow. AND I'd have to "pre-order" the die I wanted to buy but can get it NOW at every other site. Double wow! Sure glad I shopped around.
Never heard of Scrappin Great Deals, so I had to go take a look. They are a Canadian company.
Was the 20% increase after the Canadian to USD conversion? It appears that $1 Canadian is equivalent to 75 cents U.S. If so, then they are expensive. If not, then the company may provide good deals to those in Canada. But for those of us in the U.S. there's probably additional shipping costs as well.
Yes Scrappin Great Deals is a Canadian site and our dollar is close to 35% compared to the US dollar. They also have a harder time than US stores to get the items in. It is frustrating for people like me who wants things now. I tend to buy from US sites even with the exchange. I do not have to pay taxes across the border and 99.9% of the time I do not get hit with duty.
So to show a little respect to our falling dollar and problems with dealing across the border I would think Bahb should just delete her nasty comments.

Proudly Canadian but not afraid to shop US
Oh my stars, I would gladly delete my nasty comments and am sooooooo sorry I didn't notice it was a Canadian company. I have to go back there and see how i could have missed that.:( The system here won't let me edit (or delete) my original post. Sorry

If you click on the little asterisk button over on the left under your avatar, it will let you "report" your post to the moderators-- you can ask them to delete it that way.
Just a note on site policy - we don't edit or remove posts that don't violate site posting rules. So we do ask that people take great care in posting, and, most importantly, be kind and respectful.
This resulted in good information being revealed, and that's what forum conversation is about. It's good not to characterize something as "nasty" that was clearly just an error, and it's also good not to post info without checking it out first, as that can be an error that makes people think you're being nasty.
I'm going to drop a little nice bomb in here... the owner (and her crew that works at the store) are among the nicest and funniest groups of girls I've had the chance to meet in this industry.

As catwoman said - nice place to live, but when it comes to craft stuff, we do pay for it!
That said, I have ordered from Scrappin Great Deals quite a number of times - I've never paid more than I thought was reasonable for an item and often really have gotten great deals. I've also never received anything less than excellent service.

Just wanted to chime in to say the same thing. Sheila does a GREAT job at service and the prices are absolutely in line (or better ) than what is normal in Canada. Here are a few ways she saves customers $$ too:
- daily 10 items sale (a selection of 10 things goes on reduced price each day)
- shop & delay ship: you can fill your cart over a week (hint, getting the sale price on a given day, for instance) and then check out later to combine everything
- weekly "24 hour sale" when lots of items are discounted
- pre-orders: you "reserve" an item before it's released and comes into stock. You get your order filled when the first ones arrive in the store, plus you get a discount.
- weekly draw for a 20% off store-wide coupon (10 winners every week, you only have to have shopped once to be in the running)
I've probably forgotten a few, LOL, but you get the idea. There are a lot of challenges around running a business in Canada selling goods that mostly come from outside the country. Exchange rate fluctuations are just the tip of the iceberg.
Rereading this, it probably sounds like I work there, LOL! I don't, I've just shopped there a lot over the years, online. It was one of the first places I could ever find in Canada the great stuff I was seeing for paper crafting, beyond just whatever M's happened to offer. So, I'm a long time fan. :-)
