I'll do that, thanks. There is another scoring type tool on the market I think its called scoring companion or something to that effect have you heard of it. I think I will just go to Gina's and order the Scor Pal I've heard and seen so many nice things made with the Scor Pal. Thanks for your reply. Do you have the Scor Mat also?
Boy, am I embarrased. I didn't read the last line I guess and see that you have the mat. Sorry. I did go to your blog and wow, awesome work. Nice inspiring cards. Thanks for the recommendations also. Bibi
I vote yes. It's a tool I use for each and every card I make - just to get good folds. It's also handy for making score lines when making boxes, bags etc..
Pros - easy to use. Has place to store the scoring tool.
Cons - kinda pricey, a bit large for storage purposes.
Thanks everyone for the great comments. I also have a Cuttlebug and enjoy it alot. I really hink I'm going to get a lot of use out of the Scor-Pal. I'll be ordering it today. Mary, just a side note, I was born in Houston TX and still have family there. Haven't been back in awhile. Went to the International Quil Festival a few years ago. Loved it. So, howdy!
omg - if all that great information doesn't convince me, and everyone else, there is something wrong... I'm actually thinking of surprising my sister with one by ordering it at her local craft store and having it there wrapped for her for her birthday. (of course, then I have to get my own as well - none locally, so will have to order) Thanks for all these wonderful links!

Well, I went to Gina K's and ordered mine the other day and can't wait. So I finally did it. With all the talk and looking at all the nice cards I just couldn't wait any longer. Now for the wait. Thanks everyone for the encouragement. Bibi
I'm sure all you wonderful ladies are right... I probably would love what a score-pal can do.
But unless I win the lottery and get a bigger stamping space and more money, I'll stick with my good ruler and out-of-ink ball-point pen, which allow me to score nicely for no cost and almost no storage space.
I'm sure the score-pal is quicker easier and possibly more accurate. But for now this is just fine.
Thanks to all you brilliant and talented stampers for all your good advice and input. It's amazing how much we learn from each other!
How cool is this? I just started catching up on my newsletters last night (I am behind a few) and saw this. I had just been asking that very question and the overwhelmingly positive response had me placing my order this afternoon. Making bookmarks from one of the tutorials was a scoring nightmare and I want to try other things like boxes, so the positive feedback and a bit of Scor-Pal website surfing had me convinced. I looked at the two suggested sites, Gina K. and 7 Kids College Fund. Shipped to Canada, a Scor-Pal and mat would cost $60.90 from Gina K. with her flat rate of $5.95 for shipping and $62.18 after a $10.00 coupon on shipping from 7 Kids. I decided to order from Scor-Pal directly even though they charged $65.95 because it was Canadian dollars (no extra 25% added for exchange rate) and shipped from a Canadian address so no duty. Canadian SCS members might like to consider this option as I probably saved money even if the initial cost was higher. BTW, I live about 5.5 hours from the nearest LSS or that option may have been cheaper. Once I have it, I'll have to try those bookmarks again and see, but with all the praise, I don't think I'll be disappointed.

Reason: ommission typos
It is much less expensive to order directly from us as we accept Canadian at par and as you said ship from Canada. Also, order today we ship tomorrow.

In reply to dogzruleca, you won't be disappointed in the Scor-Pal at all. I've had mine a couple of weeks now and I absolutely love it. Gina K. Designs sent out to me lickety split. It is the coolest. I really like creating gatefold cards and this makes it a snap. You are SO going to enjoy this tool. Have fun! Bibi
I love my Scor-Pal. I used to hate scoring before because I could never get it straight, but using the Scor-Pal is easy and also can be used for designs too.

I'd love to have one but I see it as just one more bulky thing for my burgeoning craft room! Maybe after I buy the nesties and Copics I want, then.... ((dream))
Well, I finally got a chance to use my new scor-pal and scor-mat. I love the way I was able to score bookmarks and neverending cards so easily.
I ended up getting a large triangular ruler that has 45 degree angle to help with making the angled score for bookmarks;I don't think it would have been as easy without it. Bookmarks were the reason I got the scor-pal in the first place actually. The first time I made them it took me a whole afternoon to make about a dozen of them. It was so nasty trying to get the diagonal score in the right place, I dreaded doing the two dozen I promised to donate to the Royal Purple district meeting. With the scor-pal and angled ruler, it took a bit to work out how to use it, but after the first one, it only took me about 45 minutes to do the other 23. It would have taken less time if I hadn't stuck the tape on the underside on all of them instead of the top and had to take them apart and redo it. What a bookmark it would be if they'd become permanently stuck to the the book the first time you used it LOL!
I also have several sizes of quilting rulers and I must say that the rulers really make the scor-mat a dream. The paper stays square on the mat and the rulers square with the edge of the scor-pal and with measurement lines on both it makes it quick, easy, and accurate - almost like a mini drafting table. Except that I can never seem to part with stuff, I'd probably throw out my Fiskars paper trimmer.
I predict the scor-mat/ruler combo will be the most used tools I have. How can I ever do another project without them?
Thanks Scor-Pal!
Yes!
My Scor-Pal is a component of every one of my projects that includes a fold ... basic cards on up the ladder. It is one of my "necessary" tools. ;)
I agree!! Definitely get the Scor-mat too - it's not much more, and can totally replace your cutting tool too!! It's all I use... check out how here.

I even demo'd the Scor-Pal to anohter crafter there that had to see it in action!
I do believe a scor-pal is in my future as when I score it's usually multiple scores and using the cutter is just driving me crazy remembering all the measurements. Someone said it only comes in one size large. That is great but how is the best way you have found to store it? Can I hang it on a wall? Does it need it's own shelf?
Ive discovered another benefit of having my scorepal and mat. I have a small work area and it tends to look like a bomb exploded while creating. By having my scorepal with mat on my work desk, it gives me a raised area on my desk that I keep clear of everything but the project I'm working on. No more images and such getting lost in the mess.
I also made a box for a project I'm doing. I scored out the box templete in 1 minute. Normally would have taken at least an hour or more of measuring and scoring manually.
Go for if you can, you will love it! I can't make a card without mine now

Some leave it out all the time with the mat on top.
Some have a special place for it.
It's is so lightweight, that some keep it upright on a shelf, between table legs, between their work table and cupboard, etc. like a book and pull it out when they need it.
I suppose it could hang on a wall, and, no, it doesn't need its own shelf.
And the purpose of the larger size is you can always work smaller on a larger board. You can't work larger on a smaller board. Make sense? And it's just barely over 12 x 12, and less than an 1" deep, so not all that big, really.
Im still not getting why this is a must have. Why cant you just fold the card in half?
I suppose you can just fold the card in half. But the Scor-Pal makes for a very finished, professional interior as well as exterior, and does not break the fibers as just folding the card stock.
Plus for projects with multiple scores like gate fold, accordion fold, boxes, etc. that have multiple scores, it just makes it so easy.
It does soooooo much more than just score to fold a card - it's totally awesome for embellishing and scoring for boxes and note card holds etc. Everyone absolutely, positively NEEDS one. I've been using a small quilters cutting pad but am heading to the store to get the score mat.
So Im not baaad at folding, but I do have to say the fibers do break. I use my bone folder after I fold my paper to crease it usually.
Can you show me a link or some examples of what else you can do? I dont really make boxes to often as they are so much work, Im not quite sure how you would do it with the score pal.
I keep seeing and hearing about this little baby and you have sparked my curiosity.
