I have the whole set of 48 (old families) I rarely use them. I reach for my Memento for black and brown and mostly my distress inks. Should I keep them around? Or cut my loses and maybe downsize to spots? WWYD?
It really is completely your preference!!! I know that I just got rid of some stamp pads, only to be looking for them a few weeks later  But if there are some colors that you know you will never, ever pull out again, then by all means purge your supply!!

I didn't have all the colors but purged all the retired ones except Creamy Caramel. And, I haven't used that since the purge. I may purge that one and all the other full sized pads as well. I do have the new collections in spots. It's better for my needs. I don't stamp with colored ink all that much but do use them to color. These days, I'm all about reducing clutter. It's very freeing. Do what will make you the happiest.

I would keep them, it would be just the time when you would get rid of them and then you would be looking for a certain color. Plus, I hate trying to ink up a background stamp with a tiny ink spot.
Do you have the ink refills, too? If not, that may reduce the value to the point it's just easier to keep them. I keep stuff for a long time, it seems, but finally let stuff I don't use at all go and it feels great!

A couple of years ago, I dumped all my full sized pads except distressed, and switched to spots...So much less space wasted and I can have twice as many brands and colors with spots and Dew Drops...

How much do you realistically think you can get for them. And then you may turn around and spend even more to get spots? I say keep them for a while....
I got rid of mine about two years ago and bought the spots as I rarely used some of them, never looked back. Now I just buy the ink refills if I need to top them up - which I have only had to do with one so far. I have large black and brown ink pads but otherwise all my colored ones are spots - so much easier especially when visiting crafty girlfriends
I agree with the idea of spending a bit of time paying attention to what you currently use and making your decision from there. It seems a shame to get rid of a stamp pad and replace it with a spot.
Personally, I can't stand the SU! large stamp pads (the way they are designed, not the size) but love the color coordination factor between inks, CS and ribbons. I have the full set of stamp spots from a couple of years back and every marker/reinker for the newer colors.

I got rid of all my SU ink pads a few months ago and haven't regretted it for a second. I have all the spots and the re-inkers and don't use them a whole lot as it is.
I got rid of all mine - haven't missed them even once! I got tired of the black always looking purple and the red always being a total mess. I am totally hooked on just using StazOn and then coloring, blending, etc. with pens and chalks.
Old, dried up pads will do you no good in a closet. Use spots if you HAVE to have a certain color that you dearly love.
You all almost have me convinced to switch to spots...something I'd never even given half a second's thought to before!
As to the question--do you have kids in your life? I have a box of stamp pads I don't use anymore, but keep for kids to use--used to be my own kids, who are now teenagers and up, but I also teach elementary and occasionally use them with those kids. Sure beats sharing your personal inkpads!

I use all SU ink but I only have about 20 colors and only use about 10 on a regular basis. I like a limited amount of colors and combos! I understand you may not use the colors often. I get by because of the markers-I have the whole set. I'd say sell the ink you do not use.
On spots they drive me nuts!! Too small, they leave lines, I drop them, it's hard to cover bigger stamps. That said, I know LOTS of people LOVE them.....just my two cents!

Thinking about it, I think if I had to "do it all over again" I would stay with spots honestly. That's what I started with, JUST the spots....
I only got full size pads when I was holding workshops and then became obsessed with collecting them all. I'm still a demo, but not doing workshops, so essentially they ARE just a COLLECTION LOL
I may sell off my "retired" colors though, just for the sake of making more room for other things....

Me too, and I should have mentioned that in my previous post on this thread. The ink spots are really tiny and I really don't like them at all. They are hard to use if I am trying to ink up a solid stamp that is larger than the ink spot it's a pain. And trying to ink up a large background stamp with a tiny ink spot seems like a chore to me; although the ink spots are great for the spotted background technique (which is why I kept mine).
I don't have the full size SU ink pad, but did buy 4 sets of the colour family refills & one set of the spots (1 set of the refills was for this set) in classic ink when I finally caved and started using SU products (I made my own spot with the other refill inks). I'm sorry I invested in their ink. I rarely ever use them. I find that I really only use a couple colours (black, brown, dark blue...) and generally usually only use outline stamps. I've found other inks that suit my needs and stamping style better. Personally, I would sell them if you can and buy inks with the money that work with how you like to stamp. I'll give mine to my niece (who I'm "coaching" in crafting) when she gets a little more experience under her belt.
