Default Question for SU Demos

A question for you SU demos. Since I'm not a demo I sincerely don't know the etiquette and want to know the right procedure. When I order from my rep, and for whatever reason she wants the order to come to her home, should I expect to pick up the order from her or is she expected to deliver to me?? I don't really mind picking up the order (a 15 minute drive), but sometimes she delivers and other times she doesn't let me know when my order has arrived, so I'm left hanging (and eager to get my hands on my new goodies).

The current situation is -- I placed an order 3 weeks ago (a group order)which she wanted delivered to her home. This week I contacted her to inquire when she expected the SU order to arrive at her home. She emailed me that the order arrived last week and she just hadn't gotten around to letting me know. She said she would drop the order off at a designated spot yesterday (but her tone indicated reluctance), but then failed to make the delivery.

If I knew the proper demo etiquette on order deliveries it would help me sort this out. As I said, if demos expect the customer to pick up orders, I will just assume that I will always make arrangements to do so ... and that's OK. My difficulty is that I'm confused and don't know, since she does make the delivery sometimes without me asking.

Your insights would be much appreciated.

This is up to each individual demo. SU! has no specific policy about demos delivering or customers picking up orders. It sounds like you need to talk to your demo and ask her what her expectations are so that future orders will get to you as quickly and smoothly as possible. HTH!

Does she have a demonstrator business website? If she does, you can go online and place your orders yourself under her name and they will be delivered to you and she still gets credit for your order.

As Heather said, there are no set rules for whether orders are delivered or picked up by the customer. However, my feeling is A) you definitely should have been notified that she had received the order already, and B) if I have orders coming to my house to save customers on shipping or because orders were placed at a class or workshop in my home, I always offer to drop the order off to my customers.

Maybe you should shop around for another demo in your area?

my feeling is: your demo doesn't owe you the disrespect of letting you know
(when it's her convenience) that your order has arrived. You had to pay for
the purchase right away. Did you pay for full shipping for a personal order or for a party you hostessed, maybe that was considered a party order and had to be shipped to her home. When I place an order by myself, the hostess
gets paid immediately, and ships to my home; and even lets me know when it has been shipped. If I have to pay for something right away, I expect the same results when the items have arrived, immediate delivery. my opinion,
I'd be looking for a better demo, who isn't going to keep you guessing

Please explain the different shipping options mentioned here. Should you pay less shipping if it is a group order?

If an order is part of a workshop then all orders are 10% shipping. Single orders shipped directly to you are 10% or $6.95, whichever is greater. I do believe orders from a Demo Business website charges a bit more shipping, but I don't know the exact percentage.

To me, there is no excuse not to let a customer know that your order has arrived. It is her job to let you know that what you paid for has arrived and it is between the two of you to work out a delivery agreement. Personally I always deliver things to my customers as soon as they arrived. It is hard to feel the excitement of receiving your new order if you are so frustrated. Sorry this happened to you:(.

My demo does have a web site that I can order through, so that is an option. I just prefer the personal contact, so haven't taken that route so far.

The current order was one that I placed because she was offering a special savings for her customers. I believe she was trying to place a large number of orders so that she could gather hostess benefits for herself. I appreciated the savings she was offering me, so I was fine with that.

Now that you've let me know that there are no hard and fast rules concerning order deliveries, I'll just handle future situations differently.

Thanks for all the insights ... they are very helpful.

I am not a SU demo, but am a CMC.

Each direct seller demo/consultant is different, but there are some key things that will set apart some from others. One is great customer service-to me, it sounds as if you didn't get that. That is disheartening. If your demo wants to keep you as a customer, she would be ensuring great customer service. After all, it's the little things that count the most.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
