This may sound silly but, how do you use an SU marker with a blender pen? I've seen cards that people have coloured in this way. So, do you touch your blender pen to the marker to get colour, or do you use the marker on the image and then blend?
Scribble with your pen on a clean margarine lid. Then rub your blender pen into the scribble and use it on scratch paper until it is the intensity you want. You can get a very light or very dark watercolored look. I like to layer it to shade in the dark areas.
I buy Lucerne yogurt. I save the plastic lid that comes on the foil top. They work great for little mini pallets to blend and pick up color from. These are easy to use, toss when done!

I've also used the shiny side of an old CD. Find the marker swatches stay 'wet' quite long on a CD and then I just wipe it with a baby wipe and re-use. You can also just touch the blender pen to the tip of the marker for the intense colors. When you're done with a specific color, just 'color' with your blender pen on scratch paper until it runs clear and move on to the next!
Does this have the same effect as the blender in the ink from the lid or a reinker?
Yes, very much the same. The thing I like about using markers on a plastic lid palette is that it's very portable. Last year I colored all of my Christmas cards in the car while waiting for my kids after school. I scribbled the colors I needed on a lid and stuck it in a zip lock with my aqua painter. It's very lightweight and easy to carry around. You could use a blender pen too. Another good thing is that the ink can dry between sessions. You just remoisten it with your blender pen or aqua painter. Plus, markers are much more portable than the ink pads.

Thanks for explaining that, the fact that you can let it dry in between sessions is very exciting. I also have extra time waiting for the kids after school. Now I will have something else I can do besides trim my stamps, and plan ideas. I can color and not have to worry about all the inks. Look out Christmas cards, here I come.:mrgreen:

Yes, you touch your blender pen to the marker to get colour. Another way is to use the marker on wax paper and pick up the colour with the blender. But I like the marker to the blender way best! When it starts getting the softer colour then you just "ink up" with the marker again. HTH
Well, there's a lightbulb moment for ya! I never thought of using my blender pens with markers (duh!). I've always just used mine with chalk. Well, ya learn something new every day!

Adrian I'm very new to card making and was interested to read you use a blender pen with chalk.. I presume my Tombow pen is the same as what you are talking about! I thought you applied chalk with a Q tip or the likes. Can you tell me more please

You get a different look if you use the blender pen on chalk. I like it a lot, I can get better control, and more intense color. It's just another option.

Hi Kathy Kaikoura is a beautiful spot in the North of the South Island, on the coast. An amazing place to go whale watching. Thank you for that tip. As soon as breakfast is done I will go and have a play.

I remember seeing some pictures of the area, and it is gorgeous.
Last night, the map I pulled up, seemed to put both places on the same island, which I thought odd, as I could have sworn my friend said her dad was on the south island. So I dog a little deeper, and yeah, found it better. LOL
There's a cute website about your town, and if people want to visit, etc. It's really neat. I feel very lucky to be able to chat with stampers around the world!

When you use a blender pen with your chalk, be sure to only pick up the color from one area of the chalk. The stuff in the pen seals the surface of the chalk so that you can't pick up the color with a regular applicator.

Hi Robyn,
Yes, exactly as these ladies say, you can use the blender pens with your chalks. I generally stick to a small corner, because it does tend to harden your chalk. Then when you are ready to change colors, just wipe the blender pen clean on your scratch paper. I love it when I go out to Crops or something where I'm packing a ton of stuff because with a couple of blender pens and my tray of chalks, I have 48 colors right at my fingertips!

I had a play today and luv the effect of using the chalk and blender pen. I have a long way to go before I can class myself as a card maker but am I enjoying myself. I hadn't thought about what or how to take things to a group meeting. I have enough trouble finding enough room for what I have collected so far in what was only my P&Qing room. LOL! I look forward to the time that I can invest in a digital camera so as I can show off what I make. In the meantime I simply drool over what all you clever people do. Thank you for supplying me with soooooo much eye candy.

I eventually took over our dining room. We rarely use it for eating, and the rest of the family used to just dump stuff in there. So I cleaned it up, organized my stuff enough that if we WANT to eat in there, we can, and we're all happy.
