PROBLEM WITH EMBOSSING

Everytime I emboss I still have some extra sticking to my paper where I don't want it even though I am using fabric sheet to wipe over the paper first.is there anything else I can use.or should I just invest in the embossing buddy bag.

I feel your pain...I finally gave up on embossing and sold all my stuff! :(

One of these lovely ladies will be able to help you! :)

Good luck!

You really should get the embossing buddy...it works wonderfully. Also, I always check my project after pouring on the EP to check for stray flecks and missed spots before using the heat tool. I keep a small paint brush handy to brush away those stray flecks.

I love to emboss and use the buddy to swipe over my paper first. It works very well for me. I also use a paintbrush to get rid of any extras before heating. I emboss anything I can get ahold.

The embossing buddy is great and pretty much alleviates the extra EP for me.
But... I don't always like searching for it, or if I am using a dark cs, I won't use it. I find that if I flick the back of the paper and blow really hard on the front, it takes most of the powder off. Don't be afraid to do this, the ep still sticks really well to the versamark. Also, I use a small paintbrush when using detail ep - that stuff sticks to everything!

I too, feel your pain. The embossing buddy I purchased went back. It left a dull residue that I felt changed the color of the paper. Also the dust that came from it made me sneeze!!! The best suggestion I feel is to use CLEAR embossing powder. Any strays will not be noticed.

Ok, number of things. First do you handle your work a lot or do you have sweaty palms, or do you eat whilst you craft? All of these things will cause the ep to stick to the greasy fingerprints. So if this is the case handle your card by the edges.
Secondly, do you hold your card up and sprinkle the ep over? This gives it more of a chance to spread. Try leaving your card flat and then pouring embossing powder as much just over the image as you can and then dump excess off onto excess paper. It tends to stick less.
Also, black and metallic powders do tend to stray, have you tried colored craft ink and clear powder? Then you won't see any stray.
Finally, yes an embossing buddy does make a big difference. I consider it to be essential equipment. I use it all the time and it comes in handy for lots of techniques.
HTH.

What she said . . .

I haven't bought the embossing buddy yet. I'd rather spend my $$ on paper, ink and stamps. It just seems like one of those things I shouldn't *have* to buy. I've heard that cornstarch (or was it baking soda) in a cloth bag does the same trick, but I haven't tried that either. Maybe someone else here can fill us in.

I have flicked the back of the paper.and a paintbrush to brush away the extra, then I sometimes find I hit areas where I don't want to remove it and find I have to sprinkle more on.and It just goes there anyway.you know same as when I started.there has to be a better way any tips.

I hate to buy the embossing buddy then I do the same thing and it's a waste.also I don't want to invest in embossing powders.even though I love the look.

I gave in and bought the embossing buddy and am glad I did. I use it at workshops and the customers always buy it. Why not demo it and make your money back on it? Better you than Bounce!

Really...don't give up embossing! It's one of those oooh-aaah things that is sooo easy. The embossing buddy is only $4.50, and they last forever! I've had one (non-SU) for about 8 years...I'd say that's well worth the investment. For EB residue on dark cardstock, you can swiffer your card after the EP is cooled.
