I am in the market for a polka dot embossing folder. I know that SU has it, but I am wondering where people are getting theirs from. I certainly much prefer to use a coupon and purchase at my local craft store (JoAnn or Michael's) but I would like to hear the favorites and any other info one can share.
Thanks. Be well
Miriam
I use the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots EF as well, and love it. The only problem I have, is that it isn't 4.25 x 5.5", so you always have smooth paper around the edge where the dots do not emboss, or have to cut the paper down and mat it on another paper. I don't mind doing that usually, but sometimes I would like to have the dots go all the way to all sides of the card. Love the CB product...great embossing folders. Always a great impression.
Thank you for the replies. Did you get the folders at a JoAnn or Michaels? I sure do not want to pay shipping, and would much rather be able to use a coupon too....
Thanks again. Be well and happy new year
Miriam
Darcie also makes a polka dot embossing folder with the larger dots. I tried to post a link and also a photo but apparently I don't know what I'm doing...lol sorry =)

I got mine at Hobby Lobby with my 40% off. I have also seen them at Mikes where you can also use your 40% off. BUT I love my SU one too, different size dots.
tamijo---yes!! Your Darcie link is the folder that I was referring to. Also, there are some videos on YouTube that show how you can make your own embossing folders. I remember seeing one a while back from Above Rubie Studios but I never really looked into doing something like this. It looked too involved for me...lol Megan (Above Rubie Studios) used her Cricut to cut images to create the embossing folder.
That's the one I have. I love the dots, really love the 5x7 size and I especially liked the price after I used a coupon. I wish more embossing folders were as large and as cheap.
I have swiss dots and polka dot from Cuttlebug. I like the polka dot folder because it is bigger. I bought mine from Michaels well over a year ago with a coupon.
Sizzix also makes a polka dot folder with bigger dots. I have it and the old Swiss Cuttlebug dots one. Sometimes I like the bigger dots. Here is a link to cards I made with both the smaller Swiss dots folder and the bigger Sizzix one.

I have a cuttlebug Swiss dot also. I love it but my friend has the SU version and it has more dots and there was one other thing I liked but I can't remember for sure. Maybe it was just that it covers better, which is about the same thing.
I would never replace mine but if I had a choice I'd get SU's.

I agree that SU's is good. I haven't used CB or any other folders for a few years but I was unhappy that none of the other folders I used embossed a whole card front, there was always a little border. SU's folders cover an entire A2 card front. Has CB or other manufacturers changed theirs? Just curious since I looked at any lately.
I have the swiss dots, the spots and dots and the 5 x 7 dots one. I love the 5 x 7 as I mostly make 5 x 7 cards. Sorry, I can'r remember where I got it, likely Jo-ann or Michaels.

With a bit of additional work, you can get the whole front embossed using two passes through the CB. This method only works on folders that have definitive repeating patterns though - swiss dots, circles, houndstooth, etc. When you do your first pass, make sure that the edge of your paper is not butted up against the edge of the folder - move it about a 1/2 inch to the left of the right hand side of the folder and run it through. Then, move it over about a 1/2 inch to the right of the left hand side of the folder, lining up your dots and pass it through again.
