Sometimes just getting something new or different is very motivating. One of my closest friends and I will sometimes borrow each others stamps, and it stimulates our creativity. Although, I have to say, the cards and scrapbook pages she does are amazing. She is a natural born artist, who used to sketch amazing drawings and is great with all kinds of art mediums. But best of all, we have fun when we get together, whether we're making cards, scrapbooking or just hanging out. Both of our husbands think we're nutty to like scrapbooking/cardmaking. We haven't been able to get together to scrapbook in a long time, but maybe one of these days things will settle down.
O.k., I need to go to bed. When I chat like crazy, I am fighting sleep! Hope you all have a blessed Sunday!

This did'nt come from a PIF, but wanted to share it, in case someone can use this idea too. I was thinking I needed to buy more brads, as mine are limited in colors, and happened to remember that I had some larger office supply brads put aside in my craft room. The little tongs? in the back are longer, so I cut them down some, so they won't stick out behind flowers, objects, etc... Anyway, I experimented painting them with fingernail polish (I had heard you can do that), and I was really tickled with how they turned out.

A couple of the colors had a really dull finish, so I went over them again and sprinkled glitter on top. I have also used acryllic paint in the past to color brads. Seems like they had a dull finish also, and I had to add some acyllic clear nailpolish to them. Some of them have two coats; some three. Hope it helps someone else if they can't find a color they need. On Dee's Designs Blog, she used glitter and heat and stick to add glitter to buttons. Turned out really cute! I was wanting to try to color buttons with markers and maybe polish.

Oh my gosh, those are great! I have some pretty nail polish, too, but rarely get around to doing my nails. I just might have to give this a try!

Thanks Melissa! I have a small home and limited funds, so I like making do with what I have when I can. You'll have to let me know how yours turns out.

I've heard that people do this, just never saw pics. Thanks for sharing. I'm seriously going to try this now. CVS had colors like blue, green & black on sale this week CHEAP so I'm going to check it out after I try it with some reds I already have. Thanks!

I hadn't thought of nail polish, but I have taken my regular colored brads and added stickles or glitter glue to the tops to make my rendition of "sugar coated" brads. And clear nail polish to make the dull finish shiny! Who would have thought!! Thanks for the tips!

Thank you!
Louise, the best ones I used were the NYC nail polishes, LA Colors and Wet n' Wild fast dry. The Sinful Colors ones were the ones that had a dull finish.
Arlene, I'll have to try that idea about using the stickles! That sounds great!
I also heard that you can dip the tips in versamark and then dip it into embossing powders and heat.
I was really suprised how quickly the nail polishes dried. I thought I'd have to wait for hours and hours for them to dry, but it didn't take as long as I thought. I have to keep them stored in something the cats can't get into. They love to chew on stuff!

Worked on coloring brads again tonight. Used the wonderful yellow embossing powder from Arlene and colored some others with versamark and embossing powder. The ones in the green and red to the side on the smaller piece of foam were colored with Sharpie markers. I tried using the Bic markers, but they streaked more than the Sharpies. I was so thrilled the Sharpies worked though, because I do not have any polish, embossing powder or anything to color brads red or darker green, so that made me really happy!

Arlene's embossing powder worked best of all the embossing powders. It has a nice smooth finish! Thanks so much!

The funny thing is that I'm not either! I wanted something bright and I really just went with the color coach and thought of the three, the orange was best for the base.

I love your stitching on it also! Did you use a sewing machine? I bought a small needle for my machine in the past and was wanting to learn to do that; added it to my list of many, many things to do.
I'm like Eagles, not too crazy about orange, but it looks so pretty on cards and scrapbook pages!
I also like how you embossed your buttons paper after you stamped it. Very pretty!

I did use my machine...first time ever! I have been admiring that on other people's cards and finally gave it a whirl. It looks great on the front of the card, but the tension is a mess and the inside shows it...should have practiced on some scraps to get the tension right so the inside stitches would be better too! The mains thing I read was to only use your adhesive on the center of your card so that you don't stitch through the adhesive, otherwise you can use regular needle and thread on the machine.

Thanks Gail! That is wonderful advice! I'll have to try that. I'd probably have to practice first.
Well, it may not have looked good on the inside, but it looked great on the outside! You can always cover the inside with cardstock.

Thanks again for the tips!

Here is a card I made with the stamp that Stampergrl gave me (her orphaned stamp!) The printed paper was given to me from someone on this thread, too.

Thank you! The image is large - I made the card 5x5 1/2 - I will probably make a larger card in the future or just use part of the image.

I wanted to use some mulberry paper on this card and then discovered - I am completely out of it! So I posted a thread on ISO!!

Arlene...I LOVE your beautiful card. I especially like the little pearly dots on your pink posies. And, that antiqued copper brad at the bottom. All your elements fit together so well. Lovely piece.

FINALLY! Someone made a card with one of the PSX Botanical Alphabet stamps. And, lovely it is. cainp mailed this card to me to show me how she used the stamp and I told her to enter it in the CAS160 challenge. Then, I realized I'm the one holding the card. It's in my gallery, but the explanation is there. If you have something to comment on her card, would you please post it there on the gallery instead of here. She doesn't visit here I don't think. Many thanks.

This is a card I made for a sweet little teen girl at our church. I wasn't there last week and I always hand-deliver. On the inside I used a tag from Louise, I think...I'm so sorry I can't remember. [It's been a looooong winter for me.] and yellow twine from eagles777. Thanks, Sherry, it was the perfect color.

QUESTION....I want to give this to her tomorrow. Should I glue a yellow dotted Swiss ribbon across the top of the front? It looks kind of naked.

Thanks,
Beverly

I made it up and typed it on my computer. LOL. Had to think of something clever to go with my kitty stamp. Especially after I glued feathers in his mouth!

I have a folder of "border" stickers that I always forget about. I dug that out and found a scalloped, glittery border EXACTLY the same color as your twine, Sherry. Snipped a length of that and attached it to the top. Looks perfect. Too late and tired to take a picture. Wrapped a pretty sheer brown/coppery ribbon around opposite corners and tied a bow at the top to present to her. Big day for me...first day since OCTOBER that I haven't had to drown myself in pain meds. It usually gets worse at night after I lay down. We'll see...I'm off to sleep. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well...I did end up getting a shot of this before church this morning. I added the glittery sticker border to the top front panel and I like it better. Doesn't look so naked anymore. Cailtin LOVED it. I went back to my seat after she opened it and I saw her show it to her mom. Mom had a big smile on her face when she opened it up. So...a good result for all that angst!

Thanks for looking.
Beverly
