Have you ever seen this? The late Catherine Mace, owner of a great paper company, showed me how to do this several years ago. It was by hand with very precise measuring and cutting.
Thanks for the link. I bought some templates similar to this year's ago and never really used them. I love the idea about the lantern. I'll be going through my craft supplies to find them now. Gives me an excuse to spend extra time in my craft room tomorrow while we are expecting a scortching 109 degree day.

These are really neat. I bought a couple on my last trip to Ecstasy Crafts. I have tried doing it by hand but I can tell you...the brass stencils are way better!!! LOL

A friend of mine has templates to do this. Here's a card she gave me several years ago. It looks neat- not something I cared to do so much, but appreciated the look.

I have a couple of the brass stencils that I bought a long time ago, but I didn't enjoy the cutting with a craft knife. The dies, though - that's really exciting! I think I'm going to buy the #4 die that makes what looks like a giant sunflower. Thanks for the link!
Way at the bottom of the page linked in the original post, there's a link for the Geo-dies. Here's a direct link. (Their web page could use some work to make it easier to navigate!)

It already cuts it for you? How cool is that? THAT almost makes me want to buy one of those cutting machines.
I've never heard it called paper braiding before , just Lac; I was hoping for a new technique. I think it must have been quite popular in Europe, I feel I've seen a lot of it on Dutch sites. It certainly has a real wow factor.
can't find Geo-Dies - comes up as one of those weird ones - I realize this is a bit old - does anyone know where else I might find the dies. I also have the stencil one, and it is a hassle to cut with a craft knife. I do have a couple that people have drawn as well, and they are really working but thought I'd look into the dies as well. Have a wonderful day!
I've seen Spellbinders Shapeabilities Cut Fold Tuck Dies at the Tuesday Morning stores in my area. There were both round and rectangle similar to below for about $7.
